  • I was lucky enough to witness these Lyrebirds in the Royal National park put on one of the best mimicking shows I have ever seen in the wild. BEST AT 1.53
    Listen to this male bird belting out dozens of different sounds including a whipbird, currawong, cockatoo, lorikeet, kookaburra, wattlebird, rosella, robin, rock-warbler, thornbill and many more as well as mechanical sounds that I could only guess. #royalnationalpark #nationalparksandwildlife #lyrebird #bird

      This was probably outside the midwinter mating season though males call and display compulsively for at least 9 months of the year. If the male was serious he would be doing his full tailfeather and dancing display. The males wills still get excited over a female outside her breeding time though. Can't help showing off and this bloke is good.

    Bird watchers need to beware in Australia. You hear a whipbird or a bellbird, or a kookaburra, but no...there's a resident lyrebird doing them all. Such talent.

      These birds have a number of calls of their own, some of them very loud and carrying. If you look up my posts Lyrebird Diaries you can hear a wide selection of calls. Bear in mind their mimicry differs a lot due to where they live and which birds are in their area.

    Yup, I suppose so. When I see a title that says something is going crazy, I expect to see something going crazy. That video shows nothing different than all the other Lyrebird video's I've watched. And dont take my comments personal because they're not meant that way. I just expected to see a Lyrebird going ballistic and making chainsaw and car alarm noises all the while attacking another bird or something and doing sommersaults across the ground and springing 10' into the air. Now, to me, THAT would be going crazy! Thats all. Have a great rest of the day! (and it IS a good regular Lyrebird video)👍

      What is 'crazy' if highly subjective. Depending on what you've been exposed to in the past.
      Your version of crazy was unrealistic and fanciful

    • @stuartleslie5421
      @stuartleslie5421 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      "Car alarm" and other electronic-type sounds are actually their own calls. In the wild lyrebirds have never been found to mimic human sounds, only captive ones do that.
