I've heard the sounds of coal train carriages clashing together and the grunts of deers from a lyrebird near my home town. It freaked me out big time because there was no train around at the time!!
This is the best bird species in the world. I think they should start replacing parrots in all the pet stores and be breed in mass quantities because they are so awesome.
i visited friends outside Melbourne towards the snowy mountains and we were sitting on the back deck have a tea and from the forest behind us at night fall is a lyrebird doing a baby crying. The lyre bird was imitating their new born baby. It was a weird thing to hear coming from the forest.
The sounds they they make depend on the area that they live. E.g in the Blue Mountains of NSW,where I am from they mainly mimic local birds, however on the North Coast forests north of Newcastle they're more likely to mimic chainsaw sounds because that's where there is a large timber industry
having that as a pet ohhhhh my.. here you are a sleep 3:30 in the morning you wake up to the sound of a chain saw.. soon you wake up first thought would come to mind is someone is going to cut you up ROFL NOO THANK YOU ROFL
Ms. Dalziell herself was worthy of several kinds of mating call, sadly the sound of an actual Rolls Royce engine operated by some oick likely having consigned the lyrebird to a life of frustrated solitude.
What a wonderful, impressing bird! Both its so called dancing moves and spellbinding wing movements seems extremly like peacocks! Are they in any way relatives?
Why are scientist trying to study jellyfish in hopes of giving humans near immortality. They need to study these because I want to see somebody with these vocal cords!
This American pretty much stole everything David Attenborough had to say about it, word for word. Really funny though that it imitates chainsaws and camera shutters hahaha
Nobody has ever explored the limits of lyrebird's repertoire? why?! Those are the most fascinating vocal chords i have ever heard!
Yeah.

They don't just do a kookaburra, but they do *two* of them arguing, even overlapping them!
Almighty heavenly Father will always be praised
I liked this. ☺️
Ay lyrebird can I get a “oh yeah”?

Yes, because "Shut up, it does" is always such a valid answer to every question. :)
So much of this footage is nicked from the BBC, David Attenborough did a bit about lyrebirds and its all the same footage as this
I agree, i have the video set made by David Attenborough, this is plagiarism.
Amazing!
i love this bird:)
Our lyre birds rock. Aren't they awesome at mimicking sounds?

Its so sad to hear that thing imitate a chainsaw...
And I thought that African Gray parrots were bad.
Anastasia, play Tie Fighter sound or the War of the Worlds tripod sound to him or Darth Vaders breathing noise or the THX intro. Train that bugger.
Not many cooler sounds than a TIE Fighter. Maybe those Dune weirding module sound weapons from Dune too.
evilyig Agreed, something funny would also be thinkable, like the Road Runner or the Hypnotoad from Futurama.
pretty sure thats the same guy who does the voiceovers for mythbusters
سبحان الله له في خلقه شؤن

Why are scientist trying to study jellyfish in hopes of giving humans near immortality. They need to study these because I want to see somebody with these vocal cords!

They should learn sounds of bombs exploding, gun fire erupting. For, next time there home is being torn down; may make loggers think twice(?)..

Damn, if they imitate loggers, i feel so sorry for Australians. That must be annoying as hell.
