Sutherland to Bundeena via Audley + Winifred Falls
I took my son for a leisurely walk 😏😏😏 through the Royal National park, from Sutherland to Bundeena
This 20km one way trek started at Sutherland station with an easy 2km walk, entering the Royal National Park at Rawson Parade trail.
From here we descended Honeymoon track to Audley, crossing the weir to the starting point of Winifred Falls walking track.
Be prepared for a descent climb out from Audley on a very average Winifred Falls track, eventually getting us on to a water damaged Saddle Gully track most of the way to Maianbar.
Winifred Falls + Saddle Gully tracks are both very badly kept walking tracks that I would not recommend and do make up more than 50% of this walk.
There were some highlights on this adventure including Audley and Winifred Falls, but overall a long messy waterlogged walk.
✅ this one off my list never to do again 😁

Audley Loop - via Hacking river + Temptation creek
มุมมอง 12419 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
This walk started at Sutherland, taking us along the tram line into the Royal National park and down the historic Honeymoon track to Audley. It was only then that we realised just how much water was flowing over the weir, making us change our plans for the walk. All the heavy rainfalls in the area had created numerous waterfalls along the way making it a fun wet day out Perfect wet conditions f...
Winifred Falls - What Lies Beneath
มุมมอง 105หลายเดือนก่อน
WARNING! Waterfalls and waterholes can be a death trap. Heavy rainfalls have washed lots of debris into these falls creating many underwater snares. The water was a bit cool as I took the plunge into the rich red tannins flowing along South West Arm into Winifred Falls. Winifred Falls is one of the best waterfalls in Royal National Park and easily accessible from Warumbul Rd, but keep in mind t...
My Prickly Friend - Echidna Tasmania
มุมมอง 237หลายเดือนก่อน
I spotted this cute Echidna foraging for ants on one of my recent trips to Cradle Mountain in Tasmania. In order to keep them warm in the colder winters, the fur of the Tasmanian subspecies is thicker, longer and often conceals their spines, unlike the ones I would normally come across around Sydney. #echidna #spinyanteater #anteater #australianwildlife #bushwalking #bushwalkingaustralia #tasma...

Waterfall to Audley - via Couranga track and Forest Path

This is a 16km one way walk starting at Waterfall station that takes you through some beautiful Australian bushland. Keep an eye out for some of the wildlife you may encounter on any of these walks in the Royal National Park. This is the ideal walk for bird lovers, especially when you enter into the temperate rainforest. I was once again extremely fortunate to witness Lyrebirds belting out an i...
Mimicking sounds of the Lyrebird

TURN UP THE VOLUME I was fortunate to record this lyrebird belting out a repertoire of bird sounds on my recent walk along Forest Path in the Royal National Park, Sydney The lyrebird is one of Australia's best-known birds and is a great mimic, capable of imitating almost any sound. I can recognise the sounds of a Black cockatoo, Whip bird, Currawong, Wattle Bird, Sulphur Crested cockatoo, Kooka...
Bluebottle - Man o'War
มุมมอง 4062 หลายเดือนก่อน
So how many of you have been stung by these buggers? The Bluebottle, also known as Indo-Pacific and Portuguese Man o'War, is a common, if unwelcome, summer visitor to Sydney beaches. At the mercy of the wind, they are sometimes blown into shallow waters, and often wash up onto the beach. On the eastern coast of Australia, it is the NE winds and warmer currents that bring them and other organism...
Northern Rivers Rail Trail - Murwillumbah

What an exciting way to spend a day out, riding E-bikes along the very scenic Northern Rivers Rail Trail. This rail trail starts at the state heritage listed Murwillumbah Railway Station and is an easy flat ride, where you will experience 26 bridges as well as 2 tunnels, including the unique Burringbar Range Tunnel (524m) and Hulls Rd Tunnel (50m). Massive Monitor Lizard Swims across Lake
มุมมอง 5693 หลายเดือนก่อน
Once in a lifetime capture. I was out on my kayak paddling around Turros Lake photographing shore birds when I turned and spotted this massive Lace Monitor walking across a sand bank in the middle of the Lake. Thankfully, at the time, I was using my Olympus camera fitted with a 100-400 lens to get these long shots, and then remembered I had packed my GoPro for that "just in case" moment.😁😁👍 It ...

I recently filmed this healthy looking Red-bellied black snake in Booderee Botanic Gardens searching for prey. What Lies Beneath - Freshwater Diving
มุมมอง 8214 หลายเดือนก่อน
It was yet another awesome "warm" day out combining a bit of freshwater diving into our bushwalk. This was extremely interesting with much to see and very refreshing in the water especially with temperatures on the day reaching around 37 degrees. What Lies Beneath - Freediving with Grey Nurse Sharks
มุมมอง 4365 หลายเดือนก่อน
I was fortunate enough to free dive with these beautiful creatures today. The Grey Nurse Shark, also known as the sand tiger shark or spotted ragged-tooth shark are found along Australia's east coast at a number of popular dive sites. These sharks are predominantly found in inshore coastal waters and are likely to be seen cruising around sandy bottoms and rocky caves, and close to reefs and isl...
What Lies Beneath- The Long-finned Eel

I decided to take a mask, snorkel and GoPro with me today on one of my bushwalks . I was pretty excited to get to swim with this Long-fin eel for some time giving me a great opportunity to get some cool footage. What started out as a solo adventure from Shellharbour to Minnamurra, eventually turned sour with what I would consider one of the most challenging walks I have taken on in a long time. The day was around 38degrees and the plan was to take in the Bass Point loop trail on my way to Minnamurra, following the map I had uploaded from AllTrails. Fantastic mate ! Did something similar quite a while back where I got dropped at Audley and walked back via Winefred & Anice Falls and through the back of Maianbar to get picked up at Bonnievale - was the longest I’d done at that point, was a hard slog !
This was a very messy walk on some pretty badly damaged tracks. Still glad that I did it but will not do it this one again
Lovely walk mate... insane the amount of water going through that place at the moment.
It is so good to see this much water along temptation creek and no shortage of leeches
Brave hike. Camera man's worth more money. =)
Annoying?? Are you kidding me???
Another person who doesn’t read the blog. My video is titled. Sounds of the Koel I said, Google the most annoying bird in the world and this is what you will find. If you did read the full comments, you’ll see that I am a Bird nerd and do enjoy this Bird.
@@findmyaustralia3767 Oopppssss, sorry about that.

nice vid, thank you. Lacies are just amazing. It is obvious you'd built a bit of rapport with that lacey, it was reasonably comfortable with you. they are such characters, but yep - extremely dangerous 💕💕
Thanks. The main thing when filming is to not make the subject feel threatened and most times you can get the footage you hope to get. Love working around lace monitors whenever the opportunity is there. 👍
They got good beatboxing
This is amazing thank you !

Thanks so very much for sharing so many interesting videos of this beautiful part of Sydney. Please dont ever stop posting up more. Your channel deserves a lot more exposure as it truly is great viewing .
Thank you 🙏. More to come
Great video. The 3 Tiered National Falls in the Southern Parts of the Royal National Park is also very impressive after heavy rain. If you are looking to do a longer walk that includes Winifred Falls may I suggest the Loftus (Station) to Bundeena 19k walk. One version of it can be found in the AllTrails app.
Planning on doing Winifred falls walking track from Maianbar to Audley possibly next week depending on whether weir is open. That way we get more time to explore upstream South West Arm Too hard to get to National Falls at the moment with McKell ave closed
@@findmyaustralia3767 looking forward to seeing the Maianbar to Audley video.
Takes me back to my childhood, spent every holiday down in the part of the world, thanks for sharing, actually I am heading down to Gerringong in a fortnight. Can't wait
Beautiful part of the word. Enjoy
great info. thanks for the video. may i repost to a local neighborhood social media platform NextDoor under CC licence? i actual have already done so with credit to you but unsure whether CC applies or specific permission needed. i always give credit where due.
Can you send me the link so I can see what you have done
Wouww wonderful walk tour before find waterfall of Audley, you find many thing wouwww ❤❤ beautiful forest via couranga track 😊❤❤👍🙏🏻🙏🏻 Thank you so much dear friend 🙏🏻 Nice experience to enjoy beautiful waterfall of audley 👌🙏🏻 9:43
Thank you very much and happy you enjoyed it 😊😊
Beautiful trail
Looks like a great walk. Did you get any Leeches attaching themselves to you? They love the wet weather. Using the WIFI at the Audley Cafe you can call an Uber to take you back to Waterfall Station while you take a break and enjoy a coffee and a bite to eat. Typically the Uber is there within 15 minutes.
Did get quite a few leeches on me but never worried about them. A bit itchy today on a couple of the bites. Actually always stop off at Audley cafe and also use the wifi. Will put that on the blog. Cheers 👍
Walk My World have a great blog about these places, and they have visited many amazing ones like this
Find My Australia has a great blog about these places as well.🫤
@@findmyaustralia3767 cool...try Newnes area the Valley of the Dinosaurs and Valley of the Kings are great hikes to do...start from Col Ribaux former residence and walk up
Probably easier to navigate this way. Note that many people have got lost trying to do this track in the opposite direction in the past.
Very easy to lose your way on this walk. We had the AllTrails map working offline to find the trail
🎉🎉🎉🎉Nice sharing ❤
Wrong title, they "they come to Dad"......read a bit of their Biology....please
Definitely trying to impress.
not annoying at all, it's beautiful. You have the problem, not the bird ! It's called intolerance.
You called this annoying??? This is music to my ears. I grew up hearing this my entire childhood and miss it now.
I actually enjoy the sound as well. If you google the most annoying bird in the world, this bird always comes up as number one
When i spent two months in American Samoa i learned that the long line bottom fishermen especially at night while hand pulling lines into boats that they would get fiery red welts on exposed skin. The Samoan name for this condition is "sami uila". Roughly translated to English means " sea lightning " reference to the stinging electric shock sensation on skin. Sami (sah-mee) is sea and uila (oo-ee-lah) is lightning. The long lines would snag and break-off the bluebottle tentacles and fishermen would then get stung. The fishermen didn't actually see the float gas bags but just come in contact with nematocyst tentacles.
i can see how this name was given. That describes the pain very well. The worst I have been stung is being completely wrapped all around my body and face when I found myself surrounded by a swarm of bluebottles and no way out
The milk cap seal 🤦♀️
Is it safe there now after those whirlpool deaths
I have been there twice since this happened. Never to go when there is heavy storms around
Great video mate.I can tell you lake Illawarra at its deepest is over 16 meters in a spot as per my boats depth sounder.
I thought that may have been a mistake. I googled the info just before I spoke and thought that was a bit weird. The NSW govt site has it down as an "average of 2.1m" and I just increased it to 4m. I should have said "average depth"
Just found your channel mate and looking forward to watching them all.I have subscribed mate.Any chance you can do a beginner video.Types of tracks to tackle? How to pack your bag? Etc.Cheers.
The water looks so pretty😊
Seen few in North West Tasmanian2 days ago!
well I've done it, I've had a beautiful pet lacey for a year now. fantastic pet for the seasoned monitor caretaker
my mate has one and he always feeds it live mice lol
If I were to ever visit Sydney, I'll be looking for brush turkeys.
Hope your shoulder is alright mate, cheers for the video!
Still not good. Have been doing physio to fix it with only slight improvement
cute
A great result yesterday for blue groper in NSW with a ban on line fishing. About time.
That’s great news
Bullllllllllshiiiiiiiiiiiiit
@@bretloyd8097I'm so sorry. It must be really sad for you not being able to kill these fish any more.
@@mawfish1 if a ban is based on science. . No problem. . But this ban is not based on science and research. It's based on bullshit by very loud pretend conservationists that know absolutely f#@k all about the lifecycle of the blue grouper.

Hi, great video. Just wondering how long was the walk from the most Northern end of Minnamurra beach (at the end of the track) to the Minnmurra river where you crossed over on that yellow canoe?
Hi. At a guess I would say Minnamurra beach is just under 2km. My total walk for that day was around 21 km And I can say I was more than happy to walk the home trail along that beach. Btw the yellow float was a $10 kids float I bought the day before at K Mart😊👍
@@findmyaustralia3767 Thanks for the insight, will have that walk on my to do list
Looks awesome, Pretty sure its Tasmania ? Wonder if any of these animal would have main land equivalent
No sorry, not Tasmania. These are Sydney Spiney crayfish. Sorry, can’t give location for obvious reasons - too many people want to eat them
