i remember drawing on paper with a white candle and then painting over it with watercolour paints as a child and it's so cool to see the same technique used for painting fabric!
I love seeing your prowess in all the different steps of so many yarn and textile arts! I'm also obsessed with that repeating pattern you designed with your scanned ink experiments. Excited to see the results of the wax experiments.
I enjoy watching your videos so much! You are living my dream! I am now too old to go to school for textile, but I have learnt a lot during my life. But it makes me really happy watching young people learning and getting to do all this fun stuff.
So happy to see your video. I was thinking about heading to bed after making my 81st chenille frog, and saw you’d put up a new video. Decided to watch and embroider a smile on froggie. I was drooling over your hand dyed and spun yarn. The colors are my absolute favorite. I’m sure you’re long over being sick but was sad to see you feeling yucky. Trust all is well. How you do all you do and film and edit amazes me. Thank you. Hope your summer has been good. You’re through with FIT aren’t you? Curious what’s next in your journey. Blessings from Texas.
Awwww, imagining a froggie with a smile makes me so happy! Thank you for your kindness, it means a lot to me 🥰🥰🥰Yes, I graduated at the end of this semester in May! I'm still trying to figure out what's next 😅
It’s so enjoyable to see how your painthand wanders… Okkkkayyyyy love this color palette hard. Is it crazy for me to want to see the splash covers left after all the color mixing? Gorgeous yarn!
I enjoy your upbeat attitude in everything you present, even earn you are dealing with problems. Brava! ( And what a great black and white fabric pattern you are wearing!)
Thanks for the excellent overview of how to approach dye mixing and use. Am starting out and appreciate your approach. I hope you continue to have the time and resources to share videos with us all.
Your Red warp with the blue flecks is gorgeous 😍! You are really great with color mixing and can't wait to what other warps you come up with. Also, Very Happy Anniversary to you two, you are a lovely couple. 😊 💐🥂❤️
Yours is my favorite TH-cam channel of all time. I know it's all done now, but I can't wait to see how the journey toward your thesis continues to shape up. In the meantime, every time I watch one of your videos I'm immediately re-energized and inspired to make something myself. It's just such a burst of creative joy.
There's tons of spinning in this project!! 😅 I was one of the only students weaving this semester, and the only one in my class including handspun in my pieces. I wish more people spun yarn!
Makes me hungry for raspberry cotton candy (if there is such a thing)! I don’t know if I’ve ever commented before, but your channel brings me so much joy! Thank you for sharing your adventures :)
Thank you so much for sharing your process and how do you find the time to film and edit all of this? The joy you have for what you're doing is truly inspiring and your work ethic is phenomenal. I'm glad that you put your health first and you're feeling much better. Much love to you from the UK.
Thank you for your kindness! 🥹💕 Unfortunately this semester was so dang busy, I didn't have any time to edit, which is why you're watching a snow day video in September 🤣 I'm hoping to catch up soon!!
wow, I feel like I am getting a proper textile education following you in your studies Alexandra. I so appreciate you taking the time to document your process. I am in my 60s so likely will never attend FIT, But 40 years ago that was a dream of mine. you go girl!
Thank you for mentioning the safety requirements for dyeing! I see so many videos of people using powdered dyes with zero safety gear and it stresses me out! This stuff is really, really toxic!
I am enjoying and learning from your journey so much! I’m grateful that you are sharing with us all.
I love both yarns you spun. Catching up with episodes so I’m looking forward to seeing those yarns again. Thanks Andrea.
What a beautiful warn. Love the jewel like turquoise splotches. 👍♥️❤️👌
You do everything with such joy. I love watching your creative process. Looking forward to seeing how all of this goes.
Thank you SO much!! 🥹💕

I am definitely not a dye professional, but I'm having so much fun making messes and figuring things out as I go! 😅

Loved the color palette paintings and the mixed color and material yarn! A lot of fun to watch.
I love what you were doing with the wax. That is something so fun to work with. Can hardly wait for the next installment.
the snow day was a reminder these were done months ago, lol. So much inspiration here!
Yeeeahhhh, it's been a while since I've filmed these clips! 😅 The semester was just way too crazy to find any time to edit!
Great idea to paint colors on paper first. Then decide what to weave.

@@AndreaAlexander Looking forward to seeing more of it :D
Joyous video. My wife (the artist) and I watched this together. Thank you for a fun date.
Your comment absolutely made my day 🥰🥰🥰
So enjoyable watching you take fiber to yarn then weaving, and dyeing along the way. And the patterns! You are such a maker extraordinaire

Her name is Andrea.
First view, I actually saw the notification this time! 😅
How many ends has your merino-silk wrap?
I love your palette. That reddish pink ❤️
I think it was around 150-ish ends, if I remember correctly! I had it threaded at 15 epi and my warp was around 10" wide.
@@AndreaAlexander Soooo many😅
@@aknittingbakery Not nearly as much as my 1500-end warp from Scotland! 🤣❤
Thank you for mentioning the safety requirements for dyeing! I see so many videos of people using powdered dyes with zero safety gear and it stresses me out! This stuff is really, really toxic!
It is!! I try my absolute best to be as safe as possible, especially when my kitchen is my dye studio 🤣
