@@DylanBlackburn no need to be jealous! Yes it`s an awesome lense, but at the end it`s "just" a lense :-) you are an absolutely blessed and gifted guy!
@@sincosy you’re right! I’ve just had that “itch” to get a telephoto lens since I’ve never shot anything beyond 105mm.. thinking about picking up the Sigma 100-400!
@@DylanBlackburn I had a chance to get it 200 bucks "cheaper" and thought, ok why not! in times of inflation is a 70-200gm II a lense with low loss of value. I assumed to shoot some wildlife with it, but 200mm is too short for this in many situations. thinking about a converter or something like the sigma you mentioned. But for indoor events the 70-200 is awesome even in low light.
@@sincosy don’t blame you at all in that case! It’s hard for me to imagine 200mm not being enough but I’m not too surprised. Could always easily sell the 70-200 and have more than enough for the Sony 100-400!
I have 20mm f/1.8G, 35mm f/1.4 GM, and 85mm f/1.4 DG DN Art in my prime kit. As for the zoom, I picked up a Tamron 50-400mm recently, an insane super zoom.
Shot with the A7iii for years. Loved the 85mm Sigma Art lens (for portraits). 35mm is definitely a must as well (great for street). For wide angle, for homes and interiors, I used a Zeiss (I think the 24mm, but it's been a while). Love Sony stuff but the lenses aren't cheap.
Love the 35GM, it’s on my camera all the time. I have both the 24-70GM and the 24-105G, much prefer the 24-105 for it’s lighter weight and greater versatility. I use a Zeiss Batis 85 for portraits, but don’t typically carry it around. Also have the Sigma 100-400 which is great if you want to shoot wildlife or other scenics. And it’s half the price of the Sony. I have several others but I don’t use them enough to say they’re an active part of my kit.
I have been loving the combo as 20 1.8 G and 35 1.4 GM. These cover a lot of type of city/architectural shots I want to take, as I mostly shoot from within the city vs. outside the city from afar where a telephoto lens would be advantageous. I am shooting on a a7Riv which gives me the option of cropping and I also mapped Super 35 to my C1 button giving me ~52.5mm f2.1 at 27 megapixels with a single lens.
Great lenses. I currently have the 20mm 1.8, 35 GM and 135 GM. While the prime lenses are optically superior, sometimes having a zoom lens is so convenient. Specially when you are travelling and want only one lens to carry. Also, I find changing lenses so annoying. I would rather prefer carrying a second camera. I will try to grab a 24-70 GM II as soon as I find a good deal. As versatile as the 35mm is, I do sometimes wish it was a bit tight. Like a 50mm. 24,50,135, a dream trio for me. Having said that, I'm not parting ways with the 35 GM.
Just picked up the 24-105 and looking for a wide angle. I had the 20mm f1.8 G lens and now I’m contemplating the Tamron 20-40 f2.8, but that prime sharpness is pretty solid. Definitely going to look at the 35 GM now, Thanks for your video!
Currently I have Sigma 24mm 1.4 Art Lens for videos and landscapes Zeiss 55mm 1.8 lens for portraits Sigma 28-70 f2.8 Mostly using this for photowalks and night events Planning to buy 16-35 f4 pz for landscapes in photowalks
So I am planning on getting the Sony aiv together with the 24-105mm to start. It is a special discount where I can get that both for about 2'400.- Then I thought about getting the 35mm Prime lens as a second one. And at last probably 200-600mm by Sony for wild photography. do you think that's a good plan?
Always great hearing your perspective and was reassuring to know you use the exact same kit as me minus the 24-105, considering the Tamron 20-40 for video instead due to the size & 67mm thread although I don’t know if i can justify this and the 20mm G. Especially as the lure of an FX30 and a kit of equivalent but tiny lenses (Sony15 1.4, Viltrox 23 1.4 & sigma 18-50 2.8) for travel. As I love the idea of having a compact kit. Even there’d be a compromise on photography. Looking forward to your 35mm comparison
Honestly, I would probably recommend a 24-70 2.8 if you’re looking for a great lens that can do both. But out of these three I would say the 35mm 1.4 because 35mm is a versatile focal length.
I’m pretty torn. I’m interested in the 24-105mm but I’ve been rocking that same style on my a6300 and I’m upgrading to the A7 IV soon. I’ve been tempted to get the 24-70 GM Mk II but not sure. I could get the 24-105mm and the new Sony 50mm f1.4 but it’s such a hard decision!
I can’t wait to get my hands on the 24-105. I’ve always thought the 24-70 GM was my dream lens, but I’d rather have the extra reach over the speedier aperture.
I'm hoping to get the new A7R5 and the new Tamron 20 - 40. The rear screen and the new auto white balance and exposure metering, are the features that finally tilted me towards Sony.
I have a Nikon D3100 from my grandpa and it has a 18-270mm lens. And I really love the wide range, so I can do a wide mountain picture and also a really zoomed in for other stuff. But I just can't find a good (also not that expensive) lens for the Sony a7iv, because I want to buy the a7iv in the future. Is there a lens with such big range for the a7iv under 1000€? Or do I need more money 😅
Also a great lens! I prefer a 35mm as an “all around lens” but 24mm is especially great for video and landscape and street photography. Not as portraits but you can definitely make it work
I have the A7IV And I use the sigma art lens 24-70 And is soooo ducking heavy Can someone tell me a light / good / cheap lens it can be fixed range or not It can be tiny lens too Any recommendations??????
