Luke Skywalker vs The Knights Of Ren | The RISE of KYLO REN Chapter 2 Review

  • Chapter 2 of The Rise Of Kylo Ren has come out and the story keeps getting more interesting. We are back with Snoke who corrupts the young Ben Solo who wants to join the ranks of The Knights Of Ren. In A flash back, we see young Ben Solo, Lor Sen Tekka and Luke Skywalker on their way to a Jedi Outpost when they encounter The Knights of Ren. Luke Skywalker fights The Knights of Ren and destroys them and basically embarrasses them. The Comic is an amazing read. I highly recommend it. I wish this information was made canon well before The rise of skywalker.

    He feels like... everything is a lie and he's been lied to all his life: his last name, the truth about Vader and his family, he thinks Luke wanted to kill him (and doesn't love him), his parents were afraid of him or they saw him as a monster and that's why they sent him to Luke , expectations about him being a Jedi like Obi Wan...
    This makes more sad and upset his ending in TROS.

    I have a feeling that this Snoke is not the same one from the films. I know it's a comic and they will make everyone look different but this one looks younger and he seems more mobile. Maybe there are times where unknown to everyone (Even his guards) the being goes out on a journey of his own and it's to meet Palpatine and update him on Kylo Ren. Maybe something happens to that copy of Snoke every time and he's replaced by another and he always has a cover story for why he looks different. Just pure speculation here.

    It's sad that Ben Solo's fall makes sense at the cost of the rest of the story. Considering his parents dumped him (in his eyes), imposed ultra high expectations (legendary bloodline) and to make matters worse his uncle tried to kill him it is understandable why he rebelled. Problem is all who wronged him were acting completely out of character...

    Did anyone else find it disturbing that Ben calls Luke "Master" and not "Uncle"? I mean, Luke's been raising him since he was 10. And there weren't any other students to require Ben to set an example. Did they have to be so damn formal? Did Luke really take this child, who felt so unworthy and abandoned by his parents, and answer the boy's need for connection and belonging with formality?!? Is "Skywalker" some word that means "totally clueless on the parenting front" in ancient basic, or something? Seriously, they were ticking off boxes is How To Make A Sociopath, weren't they?

    • @aloha7609

      that seems to be common. Even in TROS they have Rey calling Leia MASTER. I noticed it too. He was awfully young not to be in true loving care. Again, where JJ and Chris messed up TROS. IF Leia had trained why did she have to send her young son away?

    • @micheledeetlefs6041

      @@aloha7609 She explained that herself in The Force Awakens. Han says Ben had too much Vader in him, which is nonsense. Vader died before he was born. Anything Ben had in him was what his parents taught him. Not to mention that no one ever heard of a 10 year old Sith Lord. His PARENTS had too much Vader in THEM. By that I mean PTSD from being hunted and tortured. They needed counseling and maybe medication on top of parenting lessons. Anyway, Leia says that was way whe wanted Ben to train with Luke. She didn't feel prepared to help Ben through his darkness. Remember this is a woman who couldn't even tell Lando who she was over 20 years after she found out. She couldn't fully accept her own origin, much less help Ben forge an identity for himself. So, she handed her son, still younger than Harry freakin' Potter, over to her brother. A brother just as wrapped up in his personal agenda - finding relics and history about the Jedi- as she was in the Senate. Then only difference is thus time Ben was being shot at.
      Seriously, I hope there's some Witch or something that can reach Force Ghosts who will come along and beat the fear of pick-an-innergalactic-diety into the 3 if them.

      Michele Deetlefs , Luke and Leia we not raised by their parents, they were raised by surrogates to “ hide them from their father”, to expect either or both Luke and Leia to be perfect in the skills of parenting is something which was not ingrained in their upbringing. They were both raised in homes where there were a lot of expectations that they would work hard and do as they were told, Luke rebelled at what his uncle Owen and aunt Beau wanted him to do by spending time with his friends. Absent parents are not a good or bad thing, it is the circumstances they found themselves in to keep them both safe from their father who would have either made them follow the path he chose or kill them.

      @Karen Atchison You seem to be suggesting only biological patents can pass on healthy patenting skills. This is not true. Adoptive patents can and do possess these skills and pass them on every day.
      Luke and Leia were both adopted by loving 2 parent households. So you are mistaken in thinking they couldn't have learned healthy parenting skills. They should have. Being a farmer or being royalty doesn't keep one from being a good parent either. Luke was typical teenager in wanting to be with his friends. That means he was in a healthy, well parented home. As for Leia, well, making her a child soldier for the Rebellion was a terrible idea. But that didn't happen until her late teens, so she still had a basis of good parenting. They both just seemed to think these skills should be considered because Ben had The Force, for some reason. Makes you wonder if they might have been a better family had he been born psy-nil.
      And while it is true absent parents do not always lead to damaged children, take a second look at Han, Leia and Luke and you'll see other factors at play making their absences and distances the straw that breaks the camel's back. Kids in daycare today in our world are rarely the kids of war survivors. And, as far as I know, none of them have folks seeking to refound ancient religions or start military insurgencies. And they aren't telepathic, hearing their parent's thoughts without fully understanding the context. What Ben faced was unique.

    • @SVOKRAplays
      @SVOKRAplays 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I believe the purpose for Ben calling Luke 'master Skywalker' instead of 'uncle Luke' is simple. Luke is teaching a whole new generation of Jedi, not just Ben. But Ben also seems to be far superior to others which may be very discouraging for them. I'm quite sure Luke was well aware of this and he considered that treating Ben equally to others will be better for him.
      However, if I were to guess, I'd say this was an unfortunate decision that further developed Ben's feeling of loneliness and distance from his family and at the same time it also failed to help him fit into the collective of his peers.

    If LucasFilm is going out of it's way to make Ben a more sympathetic and tragic villain like they are with this comic, then this has to be part of a long-term setup for Rey eventually getting him back. Why else try to get more fans on his side?

    • @micheledeetlefs6041
      @micheledeetlefs6041 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I personally think they knew the film fanboys would never accept Ben surviving because they think of redemption in the Calvinist sense only, a single blinding moment. They would never want to see him going through redemption as a practical process. But the more diehard fans would, since we're the ones who've been debating if loving your son for half an hour honesty does make up for murdering a couple of dozen toddlers. We watch the movies but also read the books to dive into Tarkin, Vader, Thrawn. They can give the fussy fanboys their desired death for the killing of Han, while leaving us with the map of the World Between Worlds. We'll see that's probably how Palpatine got to his devotees and realize there's no Ben Force ghost because he fell into this. So we'll jump at buying a book on this Disney gets what it wants, happy repeat movie goers. Then we get what we want in s book in a year or 2.

    This is a great mini series but it so sad how Ben felt he had no choice but to turn to the dark. I think even though he’s 23, he’s still dealing with identity issues he came from a very heroic well known family (Han war general, Leia princess and rebel leader, Luke a Jedi and Lando blew up the Death Star) but with all that it felt like he got sidelined and was forced (in his mind) to live up to every expectation from who he was named after to his own family. With his last name being chosen for his father I can see how that would make it hard to relate anything with that name which would frustrate Ben since he already felt he didn’t belong. With Ren I think he was planting the initial seed of doubt in both Luke and Ben when he said he could feel the shadow in Ben which would put strain on their relationship leading up to the incident in Bens hut. Snoke is so creepy in this and it shows how he really was herding Ben away from his family by lies and manipulation.

    Snoke is NOT autonomous! It even implies in TROS he was not under palpatines direct control, merely worked for him and was also probably trained by him. Star killer was a clone too, but he wasn't directly controlled by Vader. Same concept, I don't know why everyone thinks Palpatine controlled him directly, it even says in TROS snoke was his own person when Palpatine says "Snoke trained you well." Implying Palpatine did not train Kylo Ren, but snoke, who is his own person trained him. Palpatine could be lying, but I doubt it.

    Calling it now, none of Snoke’s actions were dictated by Palpatine. He probably went rogue and shaped his own identity in the Outer Rim or Unknown Regions. Then, once he heard his creator had died and the imperial remnants were in the Unknown Regions, he took advantage of the power vacuum and seized power by helping them rebuild. I also like the mind game he’s playing with Ben. Get his to be his powerful right hand by building him up, then keep him subservient by constantly berating and abusing him. I wish the sequels started at the downfall of Lukes jedi academy and we got to see Luke in action on screen one more time then you can have him go into hiding at the end of the film after he witnessed the death of Han, then you could of had Rey be one of his students who goes looking for him by the request of leia, and between 7 and 8 could be a 3-5 year time jump, actually seeing Luke witness Hans death will make it more believable as to why he takes the blame and leaves everyone and goes on that island, seeing his Nephew kill his own father, more development with Luke and Ben before he goes bad, at the start of 7 everything is going great for Lukes jedi order, until later on in the film it all goes to shit, instead of just starting out 7 skipping all the important stuff, then in 8 you could pretty much have it play out the same but with an actual vision not making it up as they went along, also this way its a new story and fans actually get to see Luke do something, and it doesnt feel like a new hope 2.0, and maybe they could have built up to starkiller base in 9

      @@ATATChat I have the feelin (dumb incomprobable speculation) that 9 is not so much what Abrams wanted for 8 and 9 and joined both stories together. But, i think he took ideas for 7 that were left behind and used them for 9, while trying to honor the last two movies.
      Maybe, in the earlier ideas for the trilogy, Rey was Palpatine's granddoughter from the start (and realized this in the first movie), maybe she found this out by going to the remnants of the second deathstar and needed Luke's help so she doesn't fall the dark side. 9 felt like a potential 7 to me (or like 7's "missing pieces"). The exogol, the hyperspace complications in the unknown regions, all this new plot things, are like things to kick off a story, not to be introduced in the ending.
      Like, what if Palpatine was going to be the first step to kick off the new trilogy?
      I don't think it was a bad thing to make 7 a introduction of new characters while following a story that resembles the original trilogy. It was a cool "welcome back" and a reminder of why i liked star wars in the first place: i liked how everyone begin in a lonely place and hidden behind a mask, and how the force awakens when they try to protect each other (at least that was my take of Rey finding her powers while escaping with Finn and Poe and trying to protect them).
      The only thing i don't like is that 9 (even though it is a fun SW movie nad i don't hate it) felt like going backwards, not in a nostalgia dependant kind of way; but in the way that they tried to use old ideas for this new setting in 9. I don't know, nobody can know i guess; but it is fun to speculate the behind the scenes.

    They could say that Snoke used the same ability Palpatine user and put his spirit in a clone body.

      He didn’t bring himself back to life again because after Ben killed him his purpose was fulfilled.

    Ren was actually stated by his creator as a Darth Vader that you can drink with, basically.😂😂😂

    I am not a fan of comics. I mean, I have nothing against them, don't get me wrong. I just can't read then for some reason. I read one page and then... just... stop. So this was a real issue because I have been waiting for Ben's back story since Snoke said "Your father" to Kylo Ren. I have wanted to see how Luke, Leia and Han could have created this "Dark side" hate inside of their son. What happened from point A to get him to point B. And when I realized they would come out in form of comic books (I have already read the actual books so I know a bit of his life before going to Luke), I was heartbroken. And I have tried to read Snoke's comic book but again... I can't.
    So thank you so much for this. I can't wait to watch your video of Chapter 3. Thank you

    Ngl, if Ben saying that Solo isnt his real name as a call back to "Solo" the movie I'm gonna be kinda mad because that movie was just....blegh
    Edit: oh I guess it was a call back. Well that sucks. It's a good thing Ben Solo is my favorite character from the sequel trilogy.

    It’s kind of weird why Han and Leia would name their kid Ben. Neither of them had much of a connection with him. Leia never even met him.

    lol I know it’s tragic but I gotta say, he’s made up of two fake names. His initials are LITERALLY B.S. lol I might turn to the dark side too at that point

    Maybe Snoke made Palpatine and made him believe that he made Snoke. The real Snoke is out there, ok no.
    maybe he meant "i was born Palpatine, i became snoke (and i can become more snokes) for two movies"

    funny how this is all just nonsense now cause snoke is just a clone...

    • @ATATChat

      Snoke wasn't a clone. He was just a creation of Palpatine. What are you reading that told you Snoke was a clone?

    • @spellman007
      @spellman007 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ATATChat They are not a Palpatine-created clone? like, they show clone tanks in AOTC & more snokes in tanks in TROS...
