Intelligent, insightful commentary from guys who don't have cucked politics. You've earned yourselves a subscriber. I look forward to listening to more of your discussions. My only feedback is the black metal guy's mic is a little quiet. Oh, and orc bad.
Thanks for the kind words man, and thanks for listening. The way we saw it, there was a massive need for black/death criticism in the true spirit of the music, rather than looking at it from the outside-in, gawking and wringing hands. Or worse, pretending it's something it's not. Of course, we're not the only ones. If you haven't already, check out Hessian Firm, Bunsen Burner Podcast, and Radio Free Innsmouth. Re. the mic - thanks for the feedback, that sort of thing is genuinely helpful, but you'll be pleased to know this is an ANCIENT episode, and the production is much-improved. Orc bad. ⚔ -TBMG
The early beatdown band from NYC. Don't think they were Christian - checked M-A and their last full-length has their samurai mascot beating down Satan AND Jesus.
Thank you. I finished this episode today. White Hand's Power was the first Graveland song I heard, and I have been a fan ever since. It sounded so weird AND BAD, but after playing it a few times, it grew on me, and I went on to listen to other songs and albums. I am not a musician, so I cannot critique musicianship in a meaningful way, but while listening to it, I could tell, in my own dilettante way, that it was not good. While listening, I thought, "Did three guys just pick up their instruments and start hammering away like lunatics?" @@TerminusExtremeMetalPodcast
Dude I love this comment. You totally get it. Your reaction to Graveland is pretty much how people reacted to the Stooges when they first came out. And fwiw, when Amebix started out, they *literally* just picked up their instruments and started hammering away. -TBMG @@BGFitnessNY
Hey look I finally get to address this! While I do still enjoy Blood Incantation (mostly because their disingenuous and stolen riffs amuse me because that's how I write) it is beyond abnoxious how uninterested those guys are in being a metal band, they really shouldn't even try to release anymore metal ever
It stands to reason that the first true hipster death metal band, has even less to do w/ death metal than the hipster black metal bands did w/ black metal.
And Graveland! Lovely
Cheers! Glad you dig the pairing.
One of the brutal death metal
INDEED ⚔
love you guys
