      if windows was not pre-install on all computers in the world, no-one would use them.
      By the way, after so many decades, does anyone use the Apply and OK buttons right?
      By the way, why on earth we must type the password twice?!! The system could just alert if the password typed is wrong!
      It is just the worse os in existence.

    Dam they made things so complicated for no reason compared to the older versions of windows! Instead of making things more intuitive, user-friendly, and practical they make things harder and worse! Thank you for the Video now my laptop should be able to restart much quicker!

      arley rodriguez: I have extensively used every single windows operating system since 3.1, then on to windows 95, etc. The absolute worst piece of garbage was windows ME, the error filled system they released as a cheap fix between windows 98, and windows xp. Windows 7 was the best, in my opinion. I HATE HATE windows 10. I am soooo tired of jumping through microsoft's hoops using this lousy system.

    I can't thank you enough for this simple and easy-to-follow tutorial! For some reason, my laptop presented for the first time the image with which you open your video. I never bothered to create a password; I'm the only person on this machine. I tried several online suggestions, but most of them required Windows 10 to be up and running. The only option I had was to enter a PW, which I didn't have. Using another laptop, I was able to reset (actually, create), but the same infuriating screen appeared after a boot. Finally, I was fortunate enough to happen on your tutorial. I followed your instructions and fixed the problem easily. Thanks again!

    I couldn't believe how easy it was eliminating the login page. I recently bought a new Windows 10 from Amazon and it includes computer tech support so I contacted them twice to eliminate the login page and they somehow couldn't do a simple computer fix. It took me less than two minutes with your video and now I'm all set thanks to you.

    I used another site's directions and I ended up with 2 login names and for the past year I've had to manually select the second login and type my password. I followed the instructions in this video and it finally worked. I can't believe the solution was to simply shut down my computer and turn it back on after changing the login settings instead of restarting after changing the settings.

  • @CaptainPositron
    @CaptainPositron 8 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    I followed these instructions and I still have to do the password to access my desktop.

    • @nickscomputerfix
      @nickscomputerfix  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Microsoft Windows automatic updates have a terrible inclination to reset Windows settings. So from time to time you might have to go back in and repeat this procedure again. Try this: "User must enter a user name and password to use this computer" >> check it > reboot > uncheck it > reboot again. Sometimes Windows can get very confused about what it's doing.

      I had the same thing happen to me and I looked everywhere trying to figure it out. I finally found it. Search for "User Accounts" and open that file. Click on "Make changes in my account in PC settings", another window should open. In that window click "Sign-in Options". At the very top it should say "Require sign-in...... If you've been away, when should Windows require you to sign in again?". Mine was set to "When PC wakes up from sleep". Change that to "NEVER" Shut off your computer, turn computer back on. You shouldn't need to put your password in anymore. Good luck.

    absolutly brilliant to those who say it dosnt work with online accounts i have just done mine, after trying 6 days everything, i think the most important bit slightly missing in nicks viseo is when you get to "uncheck" the users must sign in part, and then press "applly" that box that comes up asking you for password twice, the "user name" is very important, dont use admin or your name YOU TYPE IN EXACTLY WHAT YOUR LOCK SCREEN IS ASKING FOE, mine was my email address so i tyed it all in, the i typed in the password not a new one but exactly as you would sign in on the screen, worked a treat, sorry to mentiom i did this just now on lenovo mixx 300 windows 10, again nick thanks for that.

    JUST WAIT if your computer is blank or hanging for awhile after startup. Mine was, and it was updating but it might also have been reconfiguring for the new setting. I came back 10 minutes later and everything was fine. Thanks Nick!

    YOU ROCK!!!! Consider me subscribed. This INSANE issue has been bugging me for the last week --- since I never gave it a password in the first place and I am using a dial-up internet connect, every time I rebooted my computer it would ask me for a DIFFERENT password (whatever LAST password I had used before shutting down.)
    Windows 10 sucks. I've been with Windows since 95.... working with computers back with DOS 5.... and the utter insanity that they've give us as a new system makes me wish I had pursued Apple instead. Whoever foisted this on the public should be summarily fired and stripped of his US Citizenship. Let him wander the world without a home country in punishment for this crap.

    Thank you very much for this direct, no-nonsense brief on solving a very annoying Windows problem created by the Microsoft Cabal. I tried about 20 other web sites/videos of potential solutions before finding your excellent instruction. One recommendation -- get a good mic. The hum behind your voice is distracting. Your graphics are very good, however.

    NOTE to anyone saying they have followed these steps and it didn't work for them (procedures already done in settings and netplwiz). The resolve for this is you HAVE to go back to the default settings. You have to CHOOSE "...password after sleep" and in netplwiz, CHECK the box to require sign in. Shut down NOT RESTART and wait a few seconds. Restart and THEN follow these directions (uncheck "...after sleep" and in netplwiz, UNCHECK "require password for log in". SHUT DOWN * not restart * and wait a few seconds. Restart and it should go directly to your desktop. This approach worked for me.

    VERY good Video Nick ...My little Vital ASC 2 in 1 11.6 inch Laptop was driving me crazy asking for the password every time it went dark this was every 15 minutes unless I hit a key ... I did have a bit of a problem however this android version of windows does not have a RUN or search box to enter the Netplwiz command into . It does have CORTANA so after trying several things I clicked on the Cortana microphone symbol and asked CORTANA for "Command Prompt "...Then up popped the old type command prompt screen . I then typed in NETPLWIZ on the command prompt line and hit enter and up pops the user accounts window ! same as you show on your video then I un-checked the little box for signing in and clicked the shutdown window symbol for a re-start and OH BOY ! It worked ! I no longer have to sign in with my password ... I worked Hours and Hours trying to do this and with the help of your Video I was finally able to do it ...THANK YOU NICK ! well done !
    Bob

    The first time I watched this video I thought this did not work for me because the box was already unchecked. A few days later I landed back here and decided to try to check it, hit apply, uncheck it and hit apply again. This worked for me, even though visually nothing has changed (box is still unchecked after all).
