The difference??; finding the current Windows11 directory on my computer with multiple hard drives and partitions. I really have to learn to simplify. Fabulous walk through!! Everything worked until I got to the list of users and of course the user is a Microsoft account. Is there any way of creating a new user.? It looks like I am grayed out of adding or resetting a user. My daughter passed away suddenly recently. We are trying to access her files. She did a lot of writing. Your help means a lot. 😅
This legit helped me. Even though I reset my Microsoft password and tried it, even though my laptop was connected into its known home network, there was no other way to reset other than my memorable answers which God knows why were not working, assuming due to a space etc. I was able to reset a password for a laptop I had not used in months. @Britec09 it seems this solution still works but you will see the 'set password' button greyed out at any case, then you will have tick advanced tab and the advanced button, select the account in the users folder and left click, choose set password ... doing this within 30 secs because system will close any windows that are open on the lockscreen.

Thanks for all that you do for us. But when inside of the command prompt (WIN11 Home), below is the message I get: c: "This drive is locked by BitLocker Drive Encryption. You must unlock this drive from Control Panel." Of course I can't access the control panel without logging into my local Windows account. Do I have any other option(s)?

This information was very helpful. I had to use an installation USB to get to recovery page. Using the left shift key and clicking restart wasn't bringing that up. I'm using a Lenovo X1 Yoga Gen 5 running windows 11. Could there be any other means within the locked PC to get there without an installation USB?

Once you have the console open (after the renaming) you can use the net user command as well
