THANK YOU!! YOU'RE A LIFE SAVER! I was about to lose it when my laptop needed a bitlocker recovery key (which i did'nt remember ever having). I was working on my bachelor thesis and i was ready to give it all up until I came across your video. I tried to watch videos on ways to retrieve the recovery key but it did not work on my laptop. You explained about the Azure Active Directory clearly and I was able to follow your instructions easily. Thank God I got the key I needed and have all my data secured. Thank you for this. You have a cool accent btw!
For Azure, if you lose the key and it was not backed up, the microsoft link won't work. The only other thing you can do is try to use the recovery key ID to find the key itself in Azure under a different serial number. This is not well understood by Azure support and requires multiple levels of support if it is indeed possible. The lesson learned here is that encryption is a double edged sword. If you don't back up the key and you get this screen, you may as well throw the machine in the river, you aren't getting in.
Not so fast. There is software that can retrieve the recovery key, not always, but often. Several forensic software. And there is PC-3000 Data Extractor device that can discover it. Finally, you can crack the Bitlocker password, but not the key.

Very useful! Some time ago I was helping my dad recover from the same issue - and luckily I had printed the recovery key when I first set up the device for him. But seeing how BitLocker is used in the coorporate setting, then it actually makes sense. Great video as always! Keep it up :)
My initial reaction was similar - how dare they assume I want them to take a copy of the key to my data and store it in a MS account! Then I realised that by default on a home PC anyone with access to the MS account could just log into the computer anyway so it's kind of moot. Still feels like they ought to ask... or at least tell you upfront.

Thank you very much! I lost my hope and was ready to reset my computer completely. But thanks to you I've tried Azure and this one worked for me, though no key was found on my personal Microsoft account. Thank you! Have a good day!
Holy cow. No clue what activated that bitlocker nightmare but thanks to you my laptop didn't have to fly from the third floor. And why is it always so hard to find information on your account.
It seems Microsoft pushed out an update that has triggered BitLocker on a lot of devices. Presumably they made a change that affected the boot measurements and the TPM doesn't trust it.
Thank you so much!!! First time for me to see this blue BitLocker screen, with your instructions I could recover the access. Very well explained and clear, super material, thank you for your work!
Thank you so much. The explaination of why this screen pops up was so reassuring. The microsoft account method you relayed worked as perfectly as you described. My day is much better now thank you.
thanks, the method through private Microsoft account worked for me to get my Dell back to work with. Your English is clear and straight to the point. I have subscribed to your channel. thanks again.
Excellent explanation, well done. Quick comment - Windows 10/11 only automatically turns on BitLocker if you sign in with your work or school, or personal Microsoft account. So, if the customer signs in with a local account it won't automatically activate BitLocker. The customer can manually turn it on, of course, in the Manage BitLocker tool. I happen to think BitLocker is a good thing, of course, for the reasons you clearly laid out at the beginning of your video. :-)
Thanks. There seem to be other scenarios where it gets enabled as well. Although they say it doesn't get enabled automatically for local accounts, I have observed it getting enabled automatically when using local accounts where a Microsoft account was subsequently added within the Windows user profile (i.e. saved in the settings app for logging in to applications, but not used to log in to Windows itself). I haven't tested it, but I assume the addition of the Microsoft account within the local user profile was the trigger in that case. Given how difficult they're making it to sign in to Home edition devices running 11 without a Microsoft account I think it's going to become difficult to avoid! Personally, I always ensure BitLocker enabled; but most people don't know it even exists and MS could do a much better job of warning them. There have been quite a few people who have messaged me about second-hand devices where they have no idea whose account the key was stored in. A popup any time a new user signs in to explain that the drive is unencrypted and they need to keep a copy of the key somewhere would avoid a lot of problems.

@@ProTechShow Hey pro tech show I tried your last method with the command prompt but my numerical password had numbers in it is this normal what am I supposed to do now pls help me
@@quanqiller409 The numerical password should consist of numbers. This is normal. If it's all numbers and no letters that is correct.
Thank you so much. You saved my day and my computer. Been trying for 2 and a half hour troubleshooting until I found your video... And finally fixed in less than 5 minutes
Glad it helped you
Thanks a million times bros, your video really helped me after I installed windows 11 on a new laptop without knowing my drive was encrypted luckily I signed in with my Microsoft account and it backed it up and I have it unlocked….thanks so much
Glad it helped!
This video saved my bacon. 3IT companies couldn't direct me to an unlocking secret. However this video did. Thank you so very much
Glad it helped you
Thank you ! After 3 hours locked out, I was able to unlock my PC using your video..
Glad it helped!
Thanks to you I could find the key - your explanation is better than the one of Microsoft itself!
Glad it helped
Thanks, man you're a real Pro-Tech and your show deserves the name (Pro Tech Show).👍
Cheers!
Excellent video. Solved a big issue for my laptop which hanged up as BitLocker Key notification. Millions Thanks. Having said that even my wife's school IT team doesn't know about how to solve the issue of Bitlocker. :)
Thanks. Feel free to point them at the video if it'll help someone else!
@@ProTechShow Affirmative
Absolute lifesaver, it turned out to be a problem with my old school account which I still had logged into my laptop. Very useful, thanks a ton!
You're welcome
Thank you so much for this vid.
The fact that you actually explained not only how to fix this issue but why we need and what it does, all makes your method enviable.
Bless up.
Thanks 🙂
Fantastic help. Having found that the key for my laptop was not stored on my microsoft account and being close to wiping all my data i found this clip and after one last restart the Bitlocker screen magically disappeared and I was able to locate the key and make a note of it for future reference. Something of a relief.
Phew! Good to know you've got it for next time.
Thanks a million for this. I had tried countless options and ended up finding the key through the azure additive directory. You have saved me from a big problem. Good life friend! ❤
Glad it helped!
You are one in million.!!!!! Million thanks to you...I was super worried after seeing this error and knowing that it is next to impossible to find the key from microsoft account who first created his / her account on my office PC. After trying your way, I was able to grab my bitlocker key. God bless you in all possible ways. You are an angel!!!!
Glad it worked out!
This worked!!! I have been worried about this for months now and I am so happy rn I could kiss everyone and everything that led to this video being made!! 😭🙏🙏
Glad it worked out for you
Glad this didn't happen to me before you uploaded this video. I'm grateful, really saved me a lot of stress.

I like seeing that this message was 2 days ago.
You are a hero! I was completely stuck but followed the steps on your video using my Microsoft account and it worked exactly like you said. I'm really grateful, thank you so much.
Glad you found the key!
@ProTechShow hi, this was helpful however, we found our bitlocker key and entered it, but nothing new happened. Any other suggestions?
Thank u so so so much!!!! 💓 u just helped a lot! I didn't have the key on my Microsoft account which was used on my pc, but i checked my School's microsoft account, and.... THERE IT IS!
Seriuosly u saved my life thanks alot !! I almost gave up by watching other videos and... was about to give to the company to format my hard disk again.
Glad you found it!
I logged in!! Through my Microsoft account! Thank you so much! Life saver!
Glad it helped you!
Thank you so very much! Turned my computer on and I was completely lost as how to fix it. I didn't think I had a key to unlock it but after following the simple steps you explained I located the key and all is fine now. God Bless!
Glad it helped you 🙂
Thanks. The last method worked for me. My laptop has locked up once before and I ended up resetting it. NBD because I save everything in the cloud. But it was a hassle. Your directions were clear and simple.
Glad it helped
Thanks man! I never knew that section existed to get bitlocker key. I kid you not, the last time this happened it took 5 hours for help desk to get me back in
5 hours... At least you can do it quicker now!
Thank you. The last one worked for me. Now if I could only remove this Gorilla Glued on rubber strip to get to the hidden screw I'd be in good shape. Never had this problem before. You just got another sub.
Glad it helped!
@@ProTechShow Turns out there wasn't a hidden screw under the rubber strip. I was able to clone it, and bitlocker was not activated.
Thank you very much! I lost my hope and was ready to reset my computer completely. But thanks to you I've tried Azure and this one worked for me, though no key was found on my personal Microsoft account. Thank you! Have a good day!
You're welcome!
Dude you are amazing. The Azure AD had the key to unlock the drive I was asked to get files off of. Thanks!
You're welcome. Good to hear you found it. 🙂
@@ProTechShow Well that DOES sound like Microsoft!
Thank you so much!!! First time for me to see this blue BitLocker screen, with your instructions I could recover the access. Very well explained and clear, super material, thank you for your work!
Thanks! Glad it helped 🙂
Thank you so much. The explaination of why this screen pops up was so reassuring. The microsoft account method you relayed worked as perfectly as you described. My day is much better now thank you.
Happy to have helped 🙂
thanks, the method through private Microsoft account worked for me to get my Dell back to work with. Your English is clear and straight to the point. I have subscribed to your channel. thanks again.
Glad it helped you
Excellent explanation, well done.
You’re a real life saver! I’m just starting my law masters and thought I’d lost everything from my degree so would be unable to do it. Thank you so much
You're welcome!
Omg!!! You're a genius!!! You don't know how much I appreciate you!! I have a test Monday and need this laptop to work and the key was on Microsoft like you said!!!!!
Glad I could help!
Perfect example of. "Yah give us your money for it but you don't own it"
Thanks for jogging my memory about being bullied into making a microsoft email account when i set up my surface pro. Found the recovery key and thankfully did not have to reset.
Glad it helped!
Thank you so much! I was able to recover my bitlocker code from another computer. I logged in and followed your instructions.
Glad to hear it!
Thank you so much for this video!!!! I am about to start classes again and I saw this screen and had NO CLUE what to do and the Microsoft FAQ was USELESS! Tysm for helping me recover my laptops data and now I can use my laptop again!!!!

Thank you for this. I rebooted and the blue screen was gone.
But I watched the whole video and learned how to get the recovery key in case this ever happens again.
Glad it was helpful. Good to know you'll be prepared should it happen again.

Thank you so much for this video! I watched several other videos before this one and wasn't able to solve my problem. This worked perfectly!
Glad it helped you!
Thank you, you beautiful man. The Azure Active Directory did it for me.
Haha. Thanks 🙂
Thank you! I had to enter my recovery key three times to work through the updates but it worked as you described.
Glad it helped
Amazing. Thank you SO much. This finally got me back in to my computer that I couldn't get into for weeks!

Thanks a bunch for this great video, I spent a few hours researching how to unlock my 2nd SSD I had added to my laptop that ended up being bitlocked when I reset my laptop. The key was located on my school account's device! Cheers!
Glad it helped!
Sir i purchased a laptop, its windows 11. I never came across this bit locker and all that, and i don't remember the product key either...... (as he seller said it all is linked to your Microsoft account).... My laptop is working fine but from last two weeks i see a popup message whenever i start my computer, it says " there is an issue with trusted platform module (tpm) data.
Press (Y) - reset whole tpm
Press (N) - boot with current tpm data
Note: bitlocker may require the recovery key to boot to windows.
SIR I AM FED UP WITH THIS, i press N every time to get access, it works But i need to get this bitlocker key, which i cant find even after doing all the methods that you mentioned......
Please help me.
Thanks Brother. It's Really Working. My Four days Tension is Gone.
Glad it was helpful
YOU JUST SAVED MY 2000 DOLLAR LAPTOP TY SO MUCH MAN❤❤❤
Glad to help!
Thank you. This solved it for me. I needed the personal account despite their link taking me to the Azure link which didn't have my key. I'm surprised the official link takes you to the wrong places.
You're welcome. Glad you found it.
Dude, your awesome, thanks! This information to get into my laptop without the key and then finding where the key is located so I can print it, was (and is) invaluable. Cheers!
Great to hear!
Thanks a lot! the Microsoft account method worked perfectly. You just gained a subscriber! Thanks 👍👍
