The Atlas headrest for the Embody really completes this chair. The level of quality and attention to detail the designers put into this headrest really blew me away. Make no mistake, Atlas nailed the look, feel, touch-points, and ergonomics while requiring no modifications to the original chair. The headrest does not look tacked on, it looks and feels like it is part of the chair. Like you I have the black and cyan gaming Embody. The The lack of a place to hang the "HM x Logitech" tag is one of the only dings I have against the headrest so far. I do also wonder how well the horizontal tension adjustment will hold after months of daily use. It is something that I will keep a close eye on. Everything else about the Atlas headrest for the Embody seems to be top notch, with the same attention to detail as the chair itself. All of the materials match the chair, including the soft rubber used on the forward/backward adjustment knob, which matches the seat adjustment knob on the Embody. Herman Miller NEEDS to make a headrest a part of the actual chair. It is INSANE that the chair doesn't come with one from the factory. That being said, I love my Embody for focused work and gaming. The only place where it falls down is for relaxing, lounging and other passive activities such as watching videos.
Got mine yesterday. Its really insane how well the colors matching and how soft it is. My Embody is perfect now. Awesome! Worth every penny and will hopefully last me the next ten years

So far it is really good. Definitely an improvement to the embody. Not a tall freak by any means, around 5 11, I do run into the issue of having to crank it down so it doesnt move, but I have loosened it so I can move it manually. It moves when I dont want it to sometimes, but, its an easy fix when it isnt cranked down. Overall, it is a bit expensive for me, but it really is high quality and you wont find anything that seriously competes with it. Glad it's finally here.
I just got this headrest today and goddamn does it make a huge difference. I never really used the recline feature much because I'd have to hold my head up using my neck muscles and I'd only be able to hold that position for a minute or two. Now I can recline with comfort and it is HEAVEN. Also, I was blown away at how closely the headrest's build matches the the build of the chair. It looks like it's a factory accessory sold by Herman Miller. Really an amazing product from Atlas, it really transforms the Embody into the perfect chair.

I purchased this headrest after seeing your reviews, and I'm very satisfied. Your reviews were spot on. I too was able to sleep in my Embody chair after getting this headrest. I'm 6'2", and probably as tall as you could be comfortable in the chair. Though the headrest adjusts taller the back of the chair is just an inch or two below the tops of my shoulder, and I think I'd want a taller-backed chair were I any taller myself.
Woot woot! Here’s something to try - lower the headrest as low as it’ll go and see how that feels on your back! The cushion is so soft that it can actually provide additional upper back support!

After digging what best chair is I've ordered a HM Embody Gaming (Graphite/White) and matching Atlas headrest. 20% off until Monday and his $5 off worked! Just got my white with Iris color in today just installed it. I also have the balance fabric but this Rythnm doesn't look bad at all with the balance. I've been looking for a reclining chair to use in my living room. I don't sit at a desk when using my personal computer, I just pull a modified recliner into position and have a mouse pad attached to the arm. It sounds like this might be a perfect replacement for it. I currently have a Respawn, and it has served me well, but it's starting to wear out and it's time for an upgrade.

I've been keeping up with the progress of this since close to when it was first announced. Do I own an Embody? No. Will I own an Embody in the near future? Probably not. But one day, I will snag an Embody; one day after that, I will snag an Atlas headrest for the Embody. For now my modern art-ys looking chair with piss poor ergonomics and a notorious reputation for leaving geometric imprints on my bone-y bottom will suffice XD. Glad to see this finally coming to fruition and props to Atlas for activating the code AFTER fulfilling the current backlog. Would have been easy, and definitely tempting, to keep racking in more capital with preorders or back-logged orders. Them wanting to clear their back-log first shows good character; very respectable!
2:09 Got this Headrest 2 days ago, THE DESIGN MAY HAVE CHANGED? IT'S NOW WAY EASIER TO INSTALL. The base can now be "split in 2" so you can screw in one side then take the other piece screw it into back of chair on other side, then screw it into the Headrest Frame. SUPER EASY!
Just finished watching your review on both the Embody with as headrest and the Fern with a headrest. After watching your reviews, I am leaning towards the Embody. As someone on the taller side (6ft4 or 193CM), it seems like a better fit for me. Plus the warranty on the embody seems to be a lot longer than the Fern here in Europe. Waiting until black friday until I make my final decision, but it is looking like it will be the Embody. Thank you for your insight and reviews!
I've had the fern in the past month and the seat is small for guys our height (I'm 6'2). Too bad because I thought the fern was a really solid chair, I ended up returning it and bought the embody. The chair is a lot smaller than I thought it would be though, the seat is way bigger than the fern which was the ultimate downfall on the fern for me

Thanks for the upload, just got my headrest today (Finally, lol) and this vid saved me from headaches with the tips, loving it, best improvement to the embody. I can finally tilt my head back when reclining it and not feeling like my necks about to snap, lol.
I wish I knew that installation tip when I did mine. That arm piece fell so many times lol. I got the white frame and nightfall sync version of the headrest. So far, liking it a whole lot. I have it dialed in pretty tight, but I can still adjust it easily.
Yes the rigidity of having to tighten everything so it doesn't move back is a problem. Also I feel like I'm tightening it too hard but overall it's worked amazing the last 2 weeks and I'm happy.
Great review! Very reassuring as preoders are always a bit of a worry. Paid my deposit on 18th March. Paid in full on 1st April. Shipped on the 16th June and set to arrive in Australia on the 21st! Cant wait to install it and tive it a spin!
I'm so excited for this thing. It's been on my radar since I got my embody, but I put in my pre-order as soon as you announced that it was open here. I'm a tall guy that really only uses my chair in leisure time and really the only complaint I have of the chair is the lack of a headrest. Obviously, we should temper our expectations, but this is really hyping me up for the coming weeks.
Great review! As there will be no 'Balance' fabric version of this headrest, which fabric would you recommend to go with my current white frame / black balance fabric chair? It's hard to tell the difference between the Rhythm, Sync and Medley fabrics on screen. Rhythm looks the blackest and possibly a similar synthetic texture to the balance. Sync looks a bit more woolly and the Medly smoother.
Hey! I ahnestly (ha!) don't know...I showed what the sync looks like against the balance fabric in the video! So maybe you can either choose or rule out that based on what you see!
I preordered the same one and still haven't received my head rest yet. I'm happy that others have received there's. Makes me can't wait for mine even more lol
6ft here. I give it an extra 90 degrees of turn with the key (after max hand tension) on the forward/back before it actually supports the weight of my head properly. I can still adjust it, but after a dozen or so adjustments, gotta bust out the key and ratchet it down again because it will loosen with movement. Hope that feedback helps.
I'll probably end up making some type of permanent wrench contraption that I can reach back to tighen/loosen 180 degrees so that I can clamp it down without getting up.

my plan is to 3d print something to try to get that tag to adapt to the headrest arm. Not sure what that looks like until mine arrives but thats the plan for now.
7:05 I’m 6 ft 2 and having trouble with the lack of upper back support that I’ve bought an Aeron to see if I will switch. (Just got the Embody) DOES the headrest help with the upper back problem for tall people? I REALLY LOVE this chair but the shoulder blades being above the top is SO annoying! @Ahnestly what have you heard?
Got my rhythm blue on white frame headrest; doesn't 100% match the balance blue fabric but close enough :) Thanks for the tip on installation. So far enjoying the headrest a lot, it is close if not mimics the original quality of the Embody and it is very easy to adjust!

Quick question, does installing this headrest break the warranty? I just me and the wife each a chair today. We are loving it, but definitely learning about the product. Gonna wait a month before I order this headrest if it doesn’t void warranty. Thank you.
Look up Magnuson-Moss warranty act. In a nutshell, HM cannot legally void your warranty if the headrest doesn’t impact certain aspects of the chair (e.g. if the armrest breaks, they can’t deny your warranty claim bc of a headrest that has nothing to do with an armrest). But also, just gotta use your head! How would HM even know you used a headrest? You gonna tell them?

We just got 2 of them today for both the wife and I. But since we are still in the honeymoon period with the chair, I want to make sure it is for me before I invest more money into it. I got mine as well. It looks fantastic and is comfortable. What I don't like is that my Unit has some ugly production marks around the screw holes which you can even see when everything is attached... still waiting for an response from Atlas.

It looks like the current model, but... do you know if this headrest is compatible with older ones? Looks fantastic. If it's not, any ideas on some knockoff that would probably attach?
I just ordered my Embody, got it 20% off for a total of $1,510 after tax and shipping. Hoping it arrives around the time they come to pick up my Vantum, yeah I bought one without reading reviews ... I cancelled before it shipped but it did ship. I do not suggest a Vantum, the seat is tiny, the armrests suck, it's only really amazing for lounging in. Once my Embody arrives I plan on getting this headrest maybe in a paycheck or two, Herman Miller nearly broke me. xD
great question! Not sure if you caught what I said in the video, but I don't use a headrest when sitting upright in the chair. I only use it when tilting back in the chair. One of the reasons I love this headrest so much is because I can get it to stay out of the way when I sit upright and "bring it in" when I need it to tilt back!

i have absolutely cranked tension knob (even with the wrench) and it still moves back when i put my head back on it, kind of disappointing. happy with everything else about it
Hey, I was thinking about getting this chair and headrest combo but it looks like the chair is a little narrow on the back. Is this something you ever notice at all when leaning back? Does it feel like your shoulders overhang? I've had a steelcase leap v2 for a couple years and I really like it but want a headrest for my chair.
I heard they won't have one for the Amethyst gaming color😔 I would've immediately bought one otherwise, but now I'm curious about how this holds up against Office Logix's embody headrest as they do offer the amethyst color. In terms of looks I think Atlas wins by far, but not having my color does suck a little bit. Thankfully it's not a deal breaker lol Hoping to see a comparison some time so I can have an idea of what I may end up leaning towards lmao
My opinion with this headrest and the company is that the product sells for premium price but not on par with the herman miller's warrenty ,albeit its awesome design and quality.

after installing mine, I had the same thought about the allen wrench! I'm 6'4" and found a tension that holds me up but is still adjustable.

After digging what best chair is I've ordered a HM Embody Gaming (Graphite/White) and matching Atlas headrest. 20% off until Monday and his $5 off worked! Yes expensive, but I'm at home office 8am-10pm with work & gaming. This will be the final piece to new home office from Secretlab (Magnus Pro XL).
Was thinking Haworth Fern originally or the Titan also from Secretlab, but HM the best. Thanks for thorough reviews making it easier and get the matching headrest.

Just got my 3 last night. After installing I said this is how the chair should have came. I looks and feels amazing.
Just got my white with Iris color in today just installed it. I also have the balance fabric but this Rythnm doesn't look bad at all with the balance. I love it turns this chair into a whole other monster. I also used your code so thanks for the savings with that. Im for sure going to get some Warzone and some BoardWalk Empire in this chair today. Im a full time trader and this chair with this headrest in 100% best chair on market and best headrest if your at your Pc for 8-10 hours a day. Thanks again

I've been looking for a reclining chair to use in my living room. I don't sit at a desk when using my personal computer, I just pull a modified recliner into position and have a mouse pad attached to the arm. It sounds like this might be a perfect replacement for it.
I currently have a Respawn, and it has served me well, but it's starting to wear out and it's time for an upgrade.

I've been keeping up with the progress of this since close to when it was first announced. Do I own an Embody? No. Will I own an Embody in the near future? Probably not. But one day, I will snag an Embody; one day after that, I will snag an Atlas headrest for the Embody. For now my modern art-ys looking chair with piss poor ergonomics and a notorious reputation for leaving geometric imprints on my bone-y bottom will suffice XD. Glad to see this finally coming to fruition and props to Atlas for activating the code AFTER fulfilling the current backlog. Would have been easy, and definitely tempting, to keep racking in more capital with preorders or back-logged orders. Them wanting to clear their back-log first shows good character; very respectable!

2:09 Got this Headrest 2 days ago, THE DESIGN MAY HAVE CHANGED? IT'S NOW WAY EASIER TO INSTALL. The base can now be "split in 2" so you can screw in one side then take the other piece screw it into back of chair on other side, then screw it into the Headrest Frame. SUPER EASY!
Now if only they could actually complete the orders from 7 months back

Just finished watching your review on both the Embody with as headrest and the Fern with a headrest. After watching your reviews, I am leaning towards the Embody. As someone on the taller side (6ft4 or 193CM), it seems like a better fit for me. Plus the warranty on the embody seems to be a lot longer than the Fern here in Europe. Waiting until black friday until I make my final decision, but it is looking like it will be the Embody. Thank you for your insight and reviews!
I've had the fern in the past month and the seat is small for guys our height (I'm 6'2). Too bad because I thought the fern was a really solid chair, I ended up returning it and bought the embody. The chair is a lot smaller than I thought it would be though, the seat is way bigger than the fern which was the ultimate downfall on the fern for me

I got the white frame and nightfall sync version of the headrest. So far, liking it a whole lot. I have it dialed in pretty tight, but I can still adjust it easily.
Yes the rigidity of having to tighten everything so it doesn't move back is a problem. Also I feel like I'm tightening it too hard but overall it's worked amazing the last 2 weeks and I'm happy.
U should do a review to see if it leaves any marks on the chair after long use.

I'm so excited for this thing. It's been on my radar since I got my embody, but I put in my pre-order as soon as you announced that it was open here. I'm a tall guy that really only uses my chair in leisure time and really the only complaint I have of the chair is the lack of a headrest. Obviously, we should temper our expectations, but this is really hyping me up for the coming weeks.

Great review! As there will be no 'Balance' fabric version of this headrest, which fabric would you recommend to go with my current white frame / black balance fabric chair? It's hard to tell the difference between the Rhythm, Sync and Medley fabrics on screen. Rhythm looks the blackest and possibly a similar synthetic texture to the balance. Sync looks a bit more woolly and the Medly smoother.
Hey! I ahnestly (ha!) don't know...I showed what the sync looks like against the balance fabric in the video! So maybe you can either choose or rule out that based on what you see!

6ft here. I give it an extra 90 degrees of turn with the key (after max hand tension) on the forward/back before it actually supports the weight of my head properly. I can still adjust it, but after a dozen or so adjustments, gotta bust out the key and ratchet it down again because it will loosen with movement.
Hope that feedback helps.
I'll probably end up making some type of permanent wrench contraption that I can reach back to tighen/loosen 180 degrees so that I can clamp it down without getting up.
How’d it hold up 7 months later? Did you come up with some kind of contraption or do you still just tighten it every so often?
Can't say I miss a headrest on my embody, but it does look nice quality.

DOES the headrest help with the upper back problem for tall people? I REALLY LOVE this chair but the shoulder blades being above the top is SO annoying!

Got my rhythm blue on white frame headrest; doesn't 100% match the balance blue fabric but close enough :) Thanks for the tip on installation. So far enjoying the headrest a lot, it is close if not mimics the original quality of the Embody and it is very easy to adjust!
"Tall freaks of nature" LMAO. Love the vid, don't even have the Embody (rocking a modded Amia), but I love the production and content so much, that I watched the whole way through. I think a headrest is tough to implement, as it can make or break the chair. This one, however, seems very thought-out and comfortable! Great video as usual, Ahnestly!

Quick question, does installing this headrest break the warranty? I just me and the wife each a chair today. We are loving it, but definitely learning about the product. Gonna wait a month before I order this headrest if it doesn’t void warranty. Thank you.
Look up Magnuson-Moss warranty act. In a nutshell, HM cannot legally void your warranty if the headrest doesn’t impact certain aspects of the chair (e.g. if the armrest breaks, they can’t deny your warranty claim bc of a headrest that has nothing to do with an armrest).
But also, just gotta use your head! How would HM even know you used a headrest? You gonna tell them?

We just got 2 of them today for both the wife and I. But since we are still in the honeymoon period with the chair, I want to make sure it is for me before I invest more money into it. I got mine as well. It looks fantastic and is comfortable. What I don't like is that my Unit has some ugly production marks around the screw holes which you can even see when everything is attached... still waiting for an response from Atlas.

I just ordered my Embody, got it 20% off for a total of $1,510 after tax and shipping. Hoping it arrives around the time they come to pick up my Vantum, yeah I bought one without reading reviews ... I cancelled before it shipped but it did ship. I do not suggest a Vantum, the seat is tiny, the armrests suck, it's only really amazing for lounging in.
Once my Embody arrives I plan on getting this headrest maybe in a paycheck or two, Herman Miller nearly broke me. xD

great question! Not sure if you caught what I said in the video, but I don't use a headrest when sitting upright in the chair. I only use it when tilting back in the chair. One of the reasons I love this headrest so much is because I can get it to stay out of the way when I sit upright and "bring it in" when I need it to tilt back!

Hey, I was thinking about getting this chair and headrest combo but it looks like the chair is a little narrow on the back. Is this something you ever notice at all when leaning back? Does it feel like your shoulders overhang? I've had a steelcase leap v2 for a couple years and I really like it but want a headrest for my chair.

My opinion with this headrest and the company is that the product sells for premium price but not on par with the herman miller's warrenty ,albeit its awesome design and quality.
What is the material of the headset? Will it be greasy in the future? How to clean it.
Same material as the embody - but it’ll depend on which embody fabric you choose. Check their website!
