  • Follow along as we figure out why we have a no crank-no start on a 206 Jetta Tdi BRM engine. Customer told us what was wrong but we want to confirm anyway.

Obviously bright engineers don't build pos junk like that (ALL cars are like that, for that matter) on their own; something,or *somebody* is making them do it extra-corporeously it seems, for not even the devil could come up with intricate and lots of times nearly unfixable contraptions like that on its own lol
Great videos, friend, looking in from Porto, Portugal
(retired mech here, also had my own Jag only shop,in NJ...)

The bushing should be drilled out to the size of the split pin, after it is installed in the turbo, it will make it much easier than doing all the measurements to make a notch that will be very hard to properly line up for the split pin to go back in.

Really love your videos. You are the best mechanic ever 👍. I would like to ask you a question. I am driving an old SEAT Toledo with a 1.9 tdi volkswagen engine. Engine code is AFN, almost the same as ALH. Sometimes the engine starts only on 3 cylinders and when it does that i shut it off and start again and then it is working just fine. I have checked for trouble codes but it dont register any. Could it be something wrong with the 3rd injector that has a cabel on it? Maybe you have some ideas what i could check?
    Best regards
    Fredrik

Love watching your videos, always learn lots! I have the exact 2006 TDI (BRM) with the DSG Auto I purchased for $1000 because the owner said the engine was knocking. It has 230,000kms. I brought it into the shop to get the camshaft inspected prior to fixing it up and they were barely able to get it running to drive it into the shop, and unable to get it running afterwards. They said the camshaft looked good, no obvious ware. I didnt want them to spend too much time on it so I towed it back home and found that the battery was bad, so I swapped it out for a known good one, then I just got starter clicking so I removed the started and bench tested it, it worked fine. I think the engine is seized, I tried putting a 19mm socked on the bottom crank pulley and it doesn't budge... anything else to check? Do these engines sized with so little milage for a TDI? Engine had oil and I had it running when I dropped it off at the garage a few weeks ago. Or should I be looking to do an engine swap? If I get an engine should I get the whole thing with transmission and ECU as well?

certainly seems like the engine is seized
