Last week i ordered my parts from 1A Auto, coilpacks, plugwires, serpentine belt and shocks, installed it all today, works great, thank you 1A Auto. 👍😁👍
Thank you for the troubleshooting suggestions! This afternoon my 1998 Ford Explorer cranked with no start. Checked owners manual for fuel pump fuse location. Fuse tested good (about 3 ohms.) Owners manual showed the fuel pump relay location in the same fuse box. I unplugged the relay and gave it a few taps against the car body in various orientations. Plugged relay back in, and car started up immediately when I cranked it. Probable cause: Relay stuck in open position. Drove car about 6 miles to recharge battery. Ordered new 5 pin relay from O'Reillys.
You can also hear if the fuel pump motor is working by removing the gas cap and putting your ear by where the gas is pumped in and listening for a buzzing noise while the ignition key is in the run position without the engine cranking. Also there could be a fuse an/or relay for the fuel pump that could cause the fuel pump to not function.
My car cranks will not start. I was told to look at the fuel pump relay first make sure the fuel pump is turning on when you turn the key because it cranks like no fuel is getting to the motor. Problem literally started today, car has run and started perfectly fine for the last 5 years.
Before you fire the parts cannon. Lift the car and check the Ground (Earth) strap low down on one side of the engine or the other (you can find out which side on Google). Down there they get exposed to weather and salt, corrode and break, usually where they bolt on. If your ignition system is grounded there and the ground strap is damaged/broken, it will turn over and won't start and you may have other mysterious electrical problems too. Its a VERY common problem often not considered until hundreds has been spent on unnecessary parts.
Your talking about wire attached to the gas hose neck because I just spayed my truck frame with casmoline and that wire has a bolt well that bolt got covered in Cosmo could that be why my truck cranks but Don't start fuel pump not running like in vid lmk any ideas y ?
Assuming your gas filler is at the back of the car I would have thought that earth point is for the rear lights any other electrical systems at the back. There will be several earth points around the car. Find out where they are located and check them all for good contact.
No difference. I have the problem, but if it sits a 1/2 hr after it won't start but cranks, then sometimes it starts. 2004 Toyota Corolla SE. I don't wanna change out fuel pump if it's not that. I did change plugs a year ago, and seen a mouse chewed some of the coating from coil pack wire. Might need new coil pack? But Tks for great Videos! Save slot of money DIY and your parts are A1 !!!! No pun intended! 😂
What if the battery light came on before the car started dying, and then you can no longer start it, but it still cranks, would it still be spark or fuel, could that be a main relay
I just had a nightmare of a time and I want to share my story with everyone so maybe they won’t make the same mistakes. TLDR: new fuel pump might have been no fuel and faulty fuel pump float. My 05 suburban stalled out while driving and it seemed to correlate with a bump in the road. Stranded I was luck enough to find a shop a few blocks away. Mechanic was nice enough to walk with me and give me a brief check. He brought starter fluid and after testing said bad fuel pump. I bought the cheapest eBay pump and just finished replacing. Mistake #1 I didn’t think of maybe my truck was empty. When I had everything apart I noticed little to no fuel but my gauge said I had just under 1/4 tank. And the only pump had some obvious signs of burn on the float connections. Mistake #2 the pump from eBay was not an exact match and I don’t know enough to say it will last. All is connected and first start was a bust but walked to the gas station filled, put 2 gallons in and it started and ran great but fuel gauge had not moved which I think is a good thing because I think my truck is finally reading correctly.
This was so very helpful. My starter has been replaced three times. Each time the mechanic replaces the starter, the car will start for about a week or two and then quit. The mechanic keeps saying the remanufactured starters were probably bad so on the third try they ordered a brand-new starter. When I drove the car off the lot, it started fine. But has been struggling to start at various moments since then. I think it is either the crankshaft senor or the spark plugs that need to be replaced. Or both. I've also spent nearly $300 on a new battery. I don't know why cars have to be this expensive. I have replaced so many parts on my older vehicle which adds up to thousands. But at the same time, I don't want to pay $800 a month for a new car.
Good video! I usually give 3 seconds with brake cleaner into the air intake and immediately start; if it runs a couple of seconds ...5 seconds, it means that the issue is in fuel - it is not getting fuel. .
I changed the fuel relay and fuel pump and I still don’t hear my pump turning on. Waiting for my main relay to come in and see if it’ll turn it on. Car Cranks. Won’t start if I spray starter fluid

Hey bro I'm impressed at what you do ,but my car can't start but it cranks and I've checked the fuel pump and it works pretty well,so I'm just kind off confused
Mine doesnt want to start in the AM after sitting all night. But, after trying for 3 to 5 mins it finally starts. After normal driving, stopping places it STARTS RIGHT UP. this only happens in the first start of the morning. 2006 VW Beetle 2.5
I just bought a fuel pump from you guys.. car still not starting . I removed the fuel line from the engine to see if gas is coming out when I crank. It does come out so that means the fuel pump is working . Prior to my car not starting I put brand new spark plugs in . Car started , was running for about 30 min while working on interior , then it cut off and hasn’t stared again, but it cranks

1 is no fuel 2 is no spark , ive found when you have no fuel it almost sounds hollow and echos were as with fuel it almost sounds smoother like it might start.
Mine 1993 chevy will crank and try to start but won't. Got new plugs, wires, cap, rotor button, coil, and ignition module still does the same thing. Sprayed starting fluid into the TBI still does the same thing.
There is a difference to a fine trained ear like myself. No fuel spins slower because the fuel isint there to lubricate the cylinders and it's more pronounced on a cold engine furthermore causing a minor increase in resistance within the cylinder. While on the other hand having fuel but no spark will spin slightly faster due to that extra tiny amount of lubrication from the fuel not burning. Thats only if the engine is cold if it's hot the fuel will vaporize and will be lubricated by the engine oil quickest roadside test you can do is grab a long flathead screw driver and touch the end to the base of your injectors and press your ear against the other end while someone is starting the vehicle. Or if your alone just spray fuel in it.
Couldn't tell the difference I have the same issue 2002 honda Odyssey it will eventually crank but sometimes take a while I thought battery cables changed them then it still did it battery good I want to know if it is fuel pump or spark plugs or ignition switch or starter great video by the way cause I have had someone say fuel pump someone say starter someone say ignition switch all mechanics so I don't know which one
I have a 1999 Sebring convertible that wouldn't start. Took it to several shops and nothing. The car was down for 7 months. It had spark, it had fuel, timing chain was right and it still would not start. Turns out the security system is built into the distributor. It has a computer in the distributor that determined the car was being stolen so it would instantly shut off over and over and over. No one could fix it because Chrysler would not train people because it was a trade secret. Even took it to a Chrysler dealership to no avail. They suggested, timing chain,($900) , or distributor, ($800)They usually take a distributor off another car and try it in the broken car but didnt have any 99s on the lot. The anti theft system had a glitch. If you buy a new distributor that was oem it would eventually repeat the problem. I finally bought an aftermarket one that had been modified to remove the glitch. That was 8 years ago. Just purrs along...

Yep guessed correct could hear a very slight suction noise in the 1st example without the reference to fuel I would have guessed stuck throttle body tho
Same issue, found problem within 10 seconds. First thing i sprayed a bit of starting fuel into intake and did not give a sign of firing, ruled out fuel pump. Then turned ign on i took a simple tester with a bulb in it, tested the fuses in fuse box and there was no power. The two bolts that hold the fuse box together threads were stripped and the power plugs under fuse box would lose connection. I replaced the bolts with longer ones and a nut. Problem was fixed. Oh the bolts that are in the fuse box have a locking washer on the back side, i put a deep socket over the head of the bolt and then tapped them out to replace them. Hope this helps.
thanks for the info. Can you help please. My 2000 expedition has been sitting for a year and half. It cranks but won’t start. It was working just fine before I parked it 18 months ago!!
My car sounds like Problem 2. I’ve changed the Spark plug and the coils 2 times within 3 weeks. Still my car sometimes making the same problem. Takes time to start. Then Check engine light comes. What can be the reason?
I have 1996 GMC pickup, Crank no start. No spark at the coil but new coil, ignition module, crank shaft position sensor, new distribtor, spark plugs and wires. Checking grounds now.
I have this issue with my car now at a shop. It cranks but wont turn over. We replaced the ignition coils, spark plugs, canister purge valve, fuel injectors, fuel pump (twice) and a couple sensors. The mechanics at the shop believes its an electrical issue. We sprayed starting fluid in the throttle and itll crank over no problem until that fluid dries then it will stall. I have a 2005 hyundai sonata

Make sure.when you replace the battery cable use marine liquid tape coating. Cover all copper wiring that is left exposed.when clamp connection made at.factory. also use wire brush to clean all grounds on body. There are many . I found seam sealer and paint under most that i cleaned. Check tailights for moisture that gets on circuit boards. Do at least 3.drain and fills on trans MAKE SURE NOT TO OVERFILL. THEN DO A PAN AND FILTER CHANGE AND C LEAN MAGNETS IN PAN.
For an old antic car when I noticed no fuel presser but can hear it when I turn the key on I ordered a new fuel pump went to replace it and noticed it had just come unplugged from the fuel line. Spent 350$ on nothin went a head a replaced it just cuz it’s old car, gonna be replaced sooner or later. Also don’t forget the wax your custom pain job after 5 years my paint just came off. 5k wasted. 😢
Thank you for this. I have this issue in a toyota 1zz 1.8 and is a known common issue in older ones. I am in hot weather and when the car is cool it starts perfectly fine and runs great. However, if it is warm already, like if I stop to refuel, and then leave, it has a very rough start. This is especially true after stopping and starting it multiple times like if I have gone to the grocery store and then fueled up after that. At that point it commonly does NOT start and I have to wait 30mins to an hour for the engine to cool down before getting a good fresh start.
Hey guys- watch your videos all the time. 2003 tahoe. Turns over- no ignition. I thought it might be out of gas, even though it only showed low-not empty- so I put 2 more gallons into it. Still no ignition. I just had a tune up less than 5000 miles ago. All new coil.packs-plugs-wires. Etc. And I have absolutely no check engine code. Not pulling anything. Any thoughts?
My 2004 Toyota Land Cruiser sounds just like that. It cranks won't start. But after three tries it started and drove for two days then started not cranking up anymore just sits in my garage. What parts do you suggest I buy?
i also recommed to chek your fuses my fuelpump fuse was bad and that was the reason my car was not starting its the cheapest way to fix ur cars problems.

Hey thanks for the video. Dodge Ram 1500 the engine and red throttle Light is on. The thing cranks, but won't start. Will vehicle need to be jumped? Reprogrammed? Is the entire body dead (hopeless)? If you can give me a peace of information I would highly appreciate it.
My 16’ chevy Cruze had some electrical problems some of the fuses under the hood don’t have power to them.. i tested them. Some light up when contacted and some don’t. I replaced all the mini fuses and still not getting power when checked.. 2 of the turn signals, brake light, horn, power outlets don’t work and engine worn turn on. No crank at all. Also windows won’t roll down from front driver side and passenger, but the rear windows work only on their doors. Won’t work from the master control. But dash lights up and front lights work. Any suggestive leads to take?
My car was cranking and taking forever to start. Changed fuel pump, filter and regulator last night. This morning started up perfect. 2nd time i started it this morning 3 hours later, it cranked forever then started. Sparks plugs coil packs and fuel injectors are all brand new replaced last week
Hello, nice vid. I have a daihatsu sirion 2 with K3-VE engine and it stopped running all of a sudden. It cranks, but no start. I checked all the fuses/relays, they seem good. I checked the crankshaftsensor and it's giving me close to 2000 ohms. So that seems ok. I tested the harness with ignition switched on, no voltage. Any idea what that could be? I still have to check to camshaftsensor though. Regards
When replacing the cam/crankshaft sensors, do you need to put them back in and screw it back in place? Or could you just click in the connection piece and leave it to test if it starts?
I have a 96 honda, crank but no start problem was non of this. Honda has a small starter switch under the dash and very easy to get too. 50 dollars at Advance. Now I have a no crank no lights no anything except my door light works, nothing else. Not sure if it's the ignition switch Have watched at least 100 videos and none of them address my exact problem. So frustrating.
what indicators does a fuel pump give before it goes out? My car started having trouble starting, it took a few tries to get it started, then it just didn't start at all. This all happened in just about a day's time. It was running fine, then it was hard to start, then it wouldn't start at all.
Question. So, if I want to boroscope my pistons, extracted sparks and see that the needed piston is in upper position. I would need to rotate engine crancshaft to move pistons. A good idea to use ignition and rotate crancshaft by trying to start the car, but to prevent engine from actually starting (most likely one side will have sparks and another will not). So, would it be a good idea to remove fuel pump relay and rotate the engine by ignition key, or should it be EFR? I have Sienna 2008 with 2GR-FE, if it matters.
I am having hard time starting my car. It's a Chevy Captiva 3.2 V6 240hp, 2007 4wD. Engine won't start. However the mass airflow, Throttle body, alternator, compressor, intake manifold are all disconnected from the engine. The first electrician said it's the faulty electric installation, and the 2nd electrician said it's the ECU module. Truth is the engine cranks but won't start. I am having a nightmare. Could you please help me
I have mine it almost start but it dies and I do have fuel pressure good so I have fuel . Dumb to ask but if it almost start , does that mean my spark good or does it have a cut of switch ????
I'm having this issue, I have a 2005 Ford ranger automatic. I replaced fuel pump, fuel filter, I also replaced coil pack and crank shaft sensor. I don't know what else to do. I also tested all spark plugs and all are fine. I have no idea where to go from here I need help ASAP. I also do not have a anti theft or any alarms on my vehicle if that helps.

My problem is the car cranks but won't start, like it's flooded or choked. Also you're driving and it just shuts down. I had to tow it to a shop, then the engine started. What could be the problem. The catalytic converter was removed because it broke from the pipe and was replaced by a piece of soldered pipe. Could that be a problem?

My car sounds like Problem 2. I’ve changed the Spark plug and the coils 2 times within 3 weeks. Still my car sometimes making the same problem. Takes time to start. Then Check engine light comes.
What can be the reason?
This guy was right. I let it crank it started. Checked plugs 120k worn. Will replace in Am
I would love to change my spark plugs, tried absolutely everything. Garage I guess, so annoying when it should be an easy job.
I have 1996 GMC pickup, Crank no start. No spark at the coil but new coil, ignition module, crank shaft position sensor, new distribtor, spark plugs and wires. Checking grounds now.
The fuel pump may be bad in the first one because the engine was not kicking over and the tone was lower
+@andrewdasilva7249 We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
Dude your video is the stuff. Can't get any better with tge info

Having same issue with a 2010 Tahoe it does it randomly and is a pain to start and no engine codes
So I need a fuel pump cuz p0340 is the code that popped and my car engine sounds just like that. No buzzing noise from the fuel pump.
One of the BEST videos I’ve seen. Thank u so much! 👏🏼
I couldn’t hear the difference. I got confused thinking there maybe a difference that I couldn’t pick up, but at the end I figured I was right 😊
Hey guys- watch your videos all the time.
I can hear my fuel pump sucking air when i take my fuel cap off and listen to it and my vehicle wont start. any ideals what i need to do please ?
Yes the first one had a different sound at the beginning and always start with easiest least expensive first so spark then fuel
Great tips that I have never heard of
Most helpful video I have found! Love your channel. Bravo

My 2011 F 350 is a 6.7 does the same thing before it starts. Always starts.
Very helpful this video help me fix my problem
Do you have to turn the key to start position in order for the fuel pump to start pumping?
Thanks my friend you are good thank for your teachings you are great thanks
That would be a crankshaft position sensor down by the starter I believe and doesn't sound like a fuel I had this problem 2003 Yukon
Excellent video, cheers! 🙌🏻
Regards
Nice video, gave me a couple of ideas, thanks!
If you don't think that these computerized vehicles do not cause problems today ....,just read all of the many complaints below ..,good luck ! ! !
Not sure if it's the ignition switch
Have watched at least 100 videos and none of them address my exact problem. So frustrating.
What if you have no spark and no fuel? Tried everything i could think of!!! Think u can help
Great Demonstration!
what indicators does a fuel pump give before it goes out? My car started having trouble starting, it took a few tries to get it started, then it just didn't start at all. This all happened in just about a day's time. It was running fine, then it was hard to start, then it wouldn't start at all.
I have a 98 k1500, I’m gettin spark and fuel but it will only crank. Any ideas?
What about a bad ignition switch? No one ever talks about that. That is what was wrong with my 1997 GMC Sierra 1500.
Could you please help me
Very knowledgeable and well presented
On a 97 Lexus ES300 that cranks but doesn't start, how would you fix it. I was told that there was no spark

Is that a pickup truck ur doing coz I would appreciate it very much..coz my truck is doing the same and the battery kept on dying on me
