  • Here's a 2009 Jetta Tdi with CBEA engine and it starts up then dies. Its not a immo issue but we lack any kind of direction as there is no codes. We start through the FAST-TEC acronym for no start diagnosis.

    got myself a simular situation after i parked my 09 cjaa for a week or two. got some hard pipe/intercooler upgrade from darkside in the UK, got a new battery from advanced and then came down with a nasty seasonal cold. went back to start on it today and it just started and died immediatly. went through several diagnostics thinking i might have left something undone... I just replaced the alternator and serp belt like 1.5 k ago. turned out it was the battery. i unhooked the new one, connected the leads and drained the system, put the old battery in from the passat and she crawled into the garage out of the rain for me. intercooler undone just like you showed me. finishing up with the jack stands now. about to take the whole front off. :)

    I like the 2 part videos. I also liked the process of diagnosing and how you tested your guy's knowledge. At first I thought it would be a faulty pressure sensor since we don't know what a working sensor's data looks like. Or maybe the fuel is making up for lack of something else?

    The problem could be the key to the ignition not being programmed. On my ‘05 TDI it will start with my non programmed ignition key, run several seconds then stops.

    This may be a stupid comment, but aren't the intake flaps on those cars to help stall it in a run away situation? Maybe that is what's stalling th car? I'm just throwing it out there, as I never saw anything on it in the video, and just popped in my mind

    My guess before part 2: one injector in which the "needle" in the nozzle is held open by some debris, a mechanical problem only, therefore draining the hi pressure ? but why does it start then? let's see part 2
    edit: WRONG,it was a clogged exhaust, the damn DPF totally blocking the exhaust!!
    but i have seen it a few times to be an injector especially on Renault 1.5 DCi cars (Megane ,Clio etc); in Europe.

    • @CoolAirVw
      @CoolAirVw  25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      fuel air spark, injection timing, cam timing, exhaust restriction and compression. turbos fail on those alot and the impeller moves to block airflow. We have a 2015 golf here right now with no start due to failed turbo.

    • @gratefultrucker7781
      @gratefultrucker7781 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@CoolAirVw yup that's exactly what it turned out to be. I replaced the turbo, now it looks like the head gasket is leaking a little. I'm thinking it ingested enough engine oil from the turbo to lift the head from preignition. Anyway I ordered a set of upgraded 12.9 head bolts from darkside. I'll try to clamp the head down to see if the leak goes away, if it doesn't I didn't lose anything by trying because I believe the head bolts I ordered are non torque to yield style so Should be reusable. Thank you so much for your comments because they helped me diagnose the failed turbo!
