I was born and raised in CA, and left when I was 20. I make a decent living, own a home, bought a new car 4 years ago, support wife and kids. I thought briefly about moving back to Cali years ago, and quickly realized that I couldn't afford to. Selling our 3-bedroom home on an acre wouldn't even get us into a studio. Horrible economy

I thought briefly about moving back to Cali years ago, and quickly realized that I couldn't afford to. Selling our 3-bedroom home on an acre wouldn't even get us into a studio. Horrible economy

It's the frog in the boiling water effect. I lived in Seattle from age 11 to 33, and during that time I can't say I ever really noticed many of the problems Seattle had. And your base line resets as they get worse. Then I moved to Texas for a couple of years for work, and then back to Washington. It really brought the shit that goes on in Washington into stark contrast when you see there are places in the US in which homeless drug addicts haven't overrun the parks and dodging used needles isn't a daily concern.
