Exactly, and guess what, in Europe they showed the Cx80 which is 4" shorter and narrower. It's not planned to come here but if the 70 fails maybe they will reconsider.
Sorry Mazda but this is a Cx 90, exact same dimensions. I don't believe this was the original plan because it makes no sense. They need a X5 size but they just cheaped out. I'll just get the 90 since it has the Turbo S trim for $50k and the 70 makes you go up to the S premium. Easy to fold down 3rd row when needed.
I'm happy to pay to not have a shoehorned third row. No kids, won't have kids so it's me and my two giant dogs and I have skipped over good deals just to wait to sit in this model
What people aren’t talking about when it comes to pricing. While yes trim for trim they are the same now you will see the price difference next year when the CX-90 rolls into the 2025 model year. And for many people that price difference whatever that will be will be a deciding factor for some to choose the 70 over the 90.
When most manufacturers update a model they concentrate on the front and rear bumpers. Thats because it’s the cheapest and quickest way to do so. That is essentially all Mazda did to differentiate the CX 70 & 90 besides the wheel design.
The Marketing team at Mazda gave the thumbs up to this. They should all be fired. Buy a CX90 and keep the seats down. At least the Honda Passport is shorter than the Pilot.
I just traded my CX9 for the CX70 and I love mine. I test drove the CX90 and it drives terrible. I was watching another review and they said Mazda retuned the engine for this one, and this one is a RWD based AWD. Whatever they did, it drives much better than the CX90. In my CX9 I kept the 3rd row down anyways and I wanted a big car with a 2nd row bench seat, so this checked every box for me. It’s so funny to me that people are upset about the 3rd row cupholders being there. Mine is in Melting Copper Metallic and it’s beautiful! Luxury, size, looks, it has it all, at least for me it does.
Its confusing me on why this was made to begin with. There are rumors of a CX-60 but idk if thats coming here. However, this 70 is so controversial because its the same size of a CX-90, it doesn’t have a 3rd row and its styled the same with minor tweaks and they’re the same price. The changes weren’t bad they make a meaningful difference but in all honesty you can really keep the 3rd row down and you’ll have the same car 💀. The 3 reasons someone would get this imo would be for the red seats, different grill and rims and the gloss black accents. Though the black accents do make the car look like it had an aftermarket chrome delete imo…
I was looking for a Honda Passport alternative with a 6 cilinder and good reliability. This vehicle is way too big. Unfortunately this is NOT an alternative....
I have a Passport and it is hte perfect size if you are looking for a larger two- row. This Mazda is the size of a Pilot.... What were they thinking? insane.
I’m on the waiting list. Already have a CX-30. Going all out for a 3.3 Turbo S Premium Plus in Melting Copper. Going to add premium towing and the digital mirror.
@@arhamkhakwani5851 Don't need the 3rd row of seats. I play in 2 tribute bands and want the space to haul my keyboard gear. Plus I'm moving in a few months to where my daughter lives. I'll be able take a bunch of stuff in the SUV and tow a trailer from U-Haul if I want.
This is just a behemoth of a mid sized vehicle. My cx-5 is too tight and this is just too big. there's no in between that would have catered to a larger segment. Most people won't need a two row with a trunk that big on the 70 for most days. I'd rather be it more nimble and shorter with a less minivan rear look
I was driving both and they are in the same price segment. Both cars drive nicely but Mazda offers way more features on gt-p + way more space. Depends on your preference. Cx-70 doesn’t look that big in person.
A 20 minute video when 2 minutes would do. We've seen this car for nearly 18 months now. If anyone wants to know how this drives, they can watch CX-90 reviews today.
Biggest difference from the CX-90 is no 3rd seat. If I only wanted that to be the difference, I would buy the CX-90 and keep the 3rd seat folded down! I was hoping it would be about 10 inches shorter like most mid-sized SUV's. Price is even about the same price as the CX-90. Think I'll just go with the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
@@seansean681Don’t forgot Subaru Outback, BMW X5, Lexus RX350, Jaguar F-Pace, Hyundai Santa-Fe and Volvo XC60. These are also some 2 row midsize suvs available
You can spin it as much as you want but nobody can say that this is not simply a CX90 with deleted third row option while watching the third row cupholders still inside the trunk of the cx70 because Mazda didn’t even bother to cancel them. Very sloppy Mazda, all in this car talk about a sloppy job.
I would get this over a CX-5 Carbon Turbo or Signature if it wasn't so massive. This looks so big which gives it presence but I wonder how that hinders maneuverability in city & highway driving
This is just a CX-90 without the 3rd row. Oh, and thank you Mazda for providing the cup holders and USB charger at the back even though there is only two rows

I don’t understand why there is no captains chairs in the second row if it just as long as the Cx90 why not use that space for people that don’t want or need a third row and I still don’t know why Mazda doesn’t have a touch screen
It is beautiful like its older brother, but I think it would have been less expenses for Mazda if it had offered better to have an option of the cx-90 with 2 or 3 rows and it would have been the same

I’m starting to get all of the Mazdas confused. They all look the same but are just proportioned differently. Which doesn’t always work out so well. This back end is certainly not working at all.
Mazda won't become a bigger player until they realize the reason they don't sell well is that they lag every major competitor when it comes to practicality in almost every segment. This is a car that is 200 inches long but has the same cargo space behind the second row as a CRV. Nobody packages as poorly as Mazda does and thats why they keep losing to Honda, Hyundai, Toyota, and Kia on sales. I can't imagine why anyone would choose this over a CX-90. Even if you don't generally need a third row, it could be nice in a pinch and this doens't really give you a space or price advantage over a CX90 so whats the point?
Yup, the cx 5 is a hit but the cx90 and cx70 aren't great compared to the competitors. These are cargo family haulers, not sports car. These need to be practical.
@David_Journey the majority of buyers in the segment could care less about which wheel bias the car has. You can't compare it to the x5 because the X5 has a much more well thought out interior and avaliable air suspension. The 70/90 are the size of an x7 outside but the size of a Gle inside. For many buyers, that makes no sense. Some interior trim is nice but then other stuff is missing (stitched dash materials, more adjustable seats, multiple input methods for the infotainment, better vent placement, etc) if you want to go premium and compare yourself against an X5 you better offer some thing more advanced than typical Mazda parts bin. Some reviews of the 90 have reported issues with the transmission programming, suspension/steering tuning issues, and idiosyncracies. In general, the car seems to have been rushed to market considering it's a completely new platform/drivetrain for Mazda. Mazda intentionally is trying to pidgeonhole itself into a small sliver of the market. Not a formula for big sales and profits.
@@th003g I cannot be happier owner of a CX-90 PHEV. This model has not had what you are describing of Inline-6 models. Transmission software was updated, so reviews maybe outdated. Also Turbo S has stitched dashboard on top trim.

This car is just confusing. I thought it was the little brother, the X3 to the CX-90's X5 (Mazda exec's in glee that I am comparing this to a BMW)... But wait - same size? And it feels less premium in general than the convincingly-premium CX-90. If it's going to be the same size, less seats, and more expensive - it needs to be WAY more sexy - the X6 to continue the analogy. Nothing about this feels more premium inside or out, than the CX-90.
