That detail is also important. There was a whole different game making culture in the ps1 and ps2 gens, that isn't the dominant one in modern gaming, like it or not. So modern remakes of games from that era could never replicate some of those vibes, including dialogue. RE also is influenced by that change. Then the matter turns out to be this: when RE makes those changes it is criticized by some fans but it's seen as minor stuff... but SH does the exact same changes and it's bashed by many fans as a big deal. The remake was phenomenal, and it wasn't exploitive. It maintained the original I held with high regard, and just gave it a facelift. My favorite apart about the game has always been the eerie atmospheric music. Brian Eno meets Trent Reznor is how I would describe Akira's sound; although, he is of course an original composer and a genius in his genre. I don't use that genius word lightly either. They've made the game scarier, and I thought that would be impossible to do - especially considering the time it was released, and the age I was when playing it. I was wrong - and I HIGHLY recommend it. A faithful remaster that anyone who wasn't old enough, or even alive, to play the original can enjoy and authentically experience Silent Hill the way it's meant to be experienced.
You have released a very high-quality product! Most of the game I just sat in suspense, constantly looking around because of rustling sounds, the game is very atmospheric! This is exactly how a real horror should look!
Apparently its a 16hr game, well it took me over 20,i coudnt resist the urge to stop and just observe everything and listen, after playing and looking so many times the original i had to just slow down out of awe and appreciate the efforts made in the remake. I was not disappointed.
what I most like about this Remake is, that it if fitting perfectly in the line of fantastic Horror Remakes we earned to enjoy the past few Years. Resident Evil, Dead Space and now Silent Hill. Resident Evil being the Picture fpr Action Horror, Silent Hill the Psycho Horror and Dead Space as kind of a fusion between both. How much the developers love the originals and how they showed them respect. The old ones beeing as good as the new remakes.
You guys made a masterpiece I am a long time fan, And I love you all for respecting the game and making it feel modern. Don't listen to the loud few. This game is perfection. Please remake the other SH games!
I really noticed the 3D audio in Unhinged betrayal, it gave me chills during that fight! I'm glad that I had steelseries sonar to help boost the audio even further with some tweaks to the bass, that and the spatial audio made it sound like an epic choir was singing among a bunch of industrial machines. I haven't gotten chills like this since I first heard One Winged Angel for the first time, at least in terms of boss fight music and excluding the original in this comparison because of course that's a banger, that was my favorite track on the original. The sound design in this game was absolutely peak, there were so many moments I was on edge simply because of the ambient sounds. Bloober cooked so hard on this game and it shows!
Im really grateful when the games comes out, after 2 decade of waiting, and boom it came out. One of the most cult classic game ive ever been played from my childhood. I wish the original SH and SH3 got their remake too. Especially for the SH, the game itself was insane back then on '99.
Props to Salóme Gunnarsdottir, the actress that played Mary/Maria for still having the dedication to work and act on the gaming development while being pregnant.
I have to admit, I was SUPER critical about Bloober Team making one of THE horror classics "Silent Hill 2". I was 20 years old when the original SH2 came out and it was such a lifechanging experience. I also had my experience with some of Bloober's titles and for that SUPER critical that it might fail in a big way. But let me say this to you: I NEVER expected Bloober to make such an extraordinary game. Every time Mary reads her letter I cry. Every time James explains himself to Mary and she says "Then why do you look so sad?" it always makes me cry, even when thinking about it. Bloober, you really earned my respect again. It was so good I even had the motivation to Platinum it, and I did. Please keep making great games, I am one of your fans again.
Im a huge SH fan and love the 2nd game but honestly, I prefer the remake :) awesome how they worked with some of the OG team to perfect their intentions for the theme and modernise the gameplay. Lovely stuff.
4 just isn't a game that will be able to be remade in this style. It would have to be totally reimagined into a different game, and may as well make a new game at that point.

@@jarlwhiterun7478 If this studio has proved itself worthy (and that's a big deal... the 1st western studio that did a great work with SH, after the departure of the original devs) then i'd rather get them involved in a brand new game and not pushed into this ridiculous trend of remakes. Not that i'm against any remake ever, but the problem is the overuse of remakes, that is very clearly the situation of the current gaming world. It's everywhere, in many different genres. The companies are abusing the nostalgia of the classics in order to keep themselves together, in a situation when they are declining in creative drive. Like Final Fantasy is being carried by remake hype and not the latest game, Resident Evil is being carried by remake hype and not the latest game, and so on for other franchises. I know Konami is working on a desperate initiative for redeeming themselves, so getting into the remake trend is the safest bet (look at Metal Gear Solid 3 remake too), but i hope they don't overdo remakes in the same way Capcom has been doing with RE, that's one of the most ridiculous cases in the industry... I'd rather move on already into a fresh ambitious project taking the hype momentum from both SH2R and MGS3R.
Most streamers/youtubers that are new in playing this game are rushing into it so bad it makes me mad, because they are missing important parts from the story and they don't care...they don't understand that this game is meant to be analyzed and felt from every corner. The developers are correct when they say just stay a moment to listen and look!
It was beyond my expectation when i played the game. I swear it brings me back when Silent Hill games were in it's prime. Now that remakes are getting popular I do wish they remake the other games and perhaps continue the line of Silent Hill Games. With the technology today it would be possible. Good job bloober and konami working with each other, and bringing gamers together!
I had faith in Konami and this remake so Im happy to be playing it again. Im 33 and I remember I got it with my ps1 when i was very young HAHAHA and I loved it, was not afraid at all. Seeing the puzzles and scenes again is like reliving that time and I got super emotional also with a bit of taste of something new. Its perfect, it didnt destroy the way I remembered the original game but also provided more. Now I want Silent Hill 3 And Silent Hill 4: The Room remakes in future! I HOPE!
Ehhhhh I would not give credit to Konami for this. Why? Because Konami is a shitty company who's only claim to fame in recent years is having two of the worst rated games of all time back to back and investing heavily in gambling machines in Asia. They haven't been a notable developer since Kojima was forced out of the company a decade ago. The release of this game and the upcoming remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 are both because they are trying to keep the rights to both IPs. It's why they picked the most popular games of each series to remake instead of the first ones. Sorry not trying to be a downer, but they are shitty corporate overlords. The only good things they did were picking Bloober Team to develop the game and not interfering with their vision/direction. All of the things you said are true, but credit belongs to Bloober Team. This was one of my favorite games of all time, and I'm grateful it was made. But just think the right people should be acknowledged
❤ as a day one SH Player back in the day, it's SO awesome to talk to people that didn't knew the old fGames now, and they finally know what i was talking about, how this game feels etc. It's such a special game and i love that more people can get addicted wirh this Franchise xD
I think one of the best things they did was there a few doors that are locked, that when u try to open them nothing happens even if u just stand there for a moment but the minute u decide to walk away someone is either yanking the knob screaming or something bangs on the door a couple times. It startled me everytime
When I realised I was walking up to Angela's mirror room, because of the doors being the same, I had chills. They really did an amazing job. Silent Hill purists are gonna hate, no matter what. Whether it was the OG SH2 not following the first game, SH3 not following 2, SH4 being weird... it'll never be good enough at first. Just wait for a couple of new releases, and this one will be a classic again
James and maria gave literally the two best performances, facial, animation, and voice i've ever seen in a video game. Absolutely raised the bar. Bloober slayed this remake. I can't even imagine playing the original after playing this. It's effectively the same in every way, but far scarier, much more relatable characters, real characters, and it's actually fun to play. The original is a better piece of art than it is an actual video game.
ive just gotten to the prison and up to this point ive been constantly going "damn the sound design is soo good" and "the lighting and composition is sooo good". everything is damn good, but its all presented with great subtlety. like everything is super refined in these aspects.
I’m hoping for more remakes this has been such a nostalgic experience for me silent hill In all my years has been my favorite franchise and now to see it advance in such a way is pure satisfaction !!! Great freaking job silent team
Salóme did a wonderful job as Mary/Maria imo. there was a hint of creepiness to her as Maria, and a lot of bittersweet sadness as Mary. lovely portrayal by a talented actress. 💖
I absolutely love all the Silent Hill games and I have to say that this remake, in my opinion, is better than the original SH2. The ways they expanded on the characters themselves as well as making the town feel more alive than it has in a long time is just amazing. It made me love James Sunderland as a character when before he was just meh, something I didn't think possible. I truly want this game to succeed and that we can see the original Silent Hill given this love and attention. I've been desperate for one for so long.
I was so nervous about the idea of a remake of this game, but I haven't been this happy to be wrong in ages! Finished my first playthrough today, and I am thoroughly impressed!
im so happy being an OG Silent Hill fan cause I see in every comment on every video, we all want remakes of 1 till 4 xD we don't even care about the others XD
I put my trust on them and purchased the deluxe version. Happy to know that it exceeded my expectation and the chance to play the remakes of 1, 3, and 4 (this is what I am more interested to). The only negatives for me is the soundtrack is only disc 1 of the supposed 3 discs, stutters break immersion (can be patched), not a fan of Maria face model but I know they based her on the voice actor. The ragdoll manequinns will not stay down and are scary asf.
I didn't realize the Bloober team was predominantly Polish that was a cool little detail to discover they did a fantastic job. This was my first time playing the Silent Hill franchise I will definitely check it out again if they decide to remake more.
A fantastic remake. I love almost everything about it and i think it's more towards modernizing an old game rather than reimagining or completely remaking the whole game like Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 Remake. I think these 3 games resembled nothing to the original but in a very good way except maybe 3, lol. This is what Silent Hill 2 looks like in my child brain back 23 years ago.
How interesting video, you guys nail it perfectly, the IT factor of the og SH games is very present in the remake, thanks for sharing your ideas and show us the love for the industry the team have!

A faithful remaster that anyone who wasn't old enough, or even alive, to play the original can enjoy and authentically experience Silent Hill the way it's meant to be experienced.
even the actor looks sad
the game was supposed to be sad, maybe
Nah she look fine af

I hope they win awards for the sound design. It was fantastic.
Another choice would be a crime.
Best game horror of 21 century! Great job
You have released a very high-quality product! Most of the game I just sat in suspense, constantly looking around because of rustling sounds, the game is very atmospheric! This is exactly how a real horror should look!
general atmosphere, and ambient sound design is pretty good. Something i noticed so far frequently.
The sound designers are absolutely geniuses. Masterpiece!
Apparently its a 16hr game, well it took me over 20,i coudnt resist the urge to stop and just observe everything and listen, after playing and looking so many times the original i had to just slow down out of awe and appreciate the efforts made in the remake.
I was not disappointed.
Very passionate group of people, love to see it!
This is an incredible job. The game is made with respect and love at all stages of creation. Thanks for everyone who's worked on it.
what I most like about this Remake is, that it if fitting perfectly in the line of fantastic Horror Remakes we earned to enjoy the past few Years. Resident Evil, Dead Space and now Silent Hill. Resident Evil being the Picture fpr Action Horror, Silent Hill the Psycho Horror and Dead Space as kind of a fusion between both. How much the developers love the originals and how they showed them respect. The old ones beeing as good as the new remakes.
the sound design in this game is something I last experienced with og RE4. Literally elite. Brilliant work
the new james 100% is better than the old one, MAJOR props to the actor
You guys made a masterpiece I am a long time fan, And I love you all for respecting the game and making it feel modern. Don't listen to the loud few. This game is perfection. Please remake the other SH games!
they all seem like they really appreciated and respected the og when trying to make this. it makes me happy.
The new actors did their job so damn well. They really understood the assignment.
the actors didnt stutter, so its proof that UE5 is to blame😂
LOVED this game. They nailed the atmosphere, the sound, the combat, the visuals and oh my goodness - the scare factor. 9/10 from me. :D
El nuevo Team Silent .....pulieron un diamante ......os amo BLOOBER TEAM ❤
Never played the original and just finished the remake. It's so good. The storyline, the visuals, the ambiance ... the music .. everything is perfect.
"Not too good looking" I think you guys failed on that part

Im really grateful when the games comes out, after 2 decade of waiting, and boom it came out. One of the most cult classic game ive ever been played from my childhood. I wish the original SH and SH3 got their remake too. Especially for the SH, the game itself was insane back then on '99.
Props to Salóme Gunnarsdottir, the actress that played Mary/Maria for still having the dedication to work and act on the gaming development while being pregnant.
Whaaat omg talk about dedication
Boys and girls, you did everything right. Thanks for a wonderful remake
Yall did it justice
I really hope we get the chance do see them remaking silent hill 3 and 4 with the same care
3 would be amazing
Silent Hill 1 is the one that should be Remaked
4 just isn't a game that will be able to be remade in this style. It would have to be totally reimagined into a different game, and may as well make a new game at that point.
I don't think it's good for the industry to get so much into this remake trend, that became completely crazy lately... and at least to me it's unfortunate that the own community is accepting the situation. That has turned the current gaming generation (ps4-5) into the worst of all time in originality and creativity.
Ok that SH2 was remade, i'll take it. But going from that to requesting the remakes of the rest of the original games, that is too much. And i'm not picking on Konami or the dev studio either... i also don't support when Capcom started to remake all REs systematically.
I'd rather move on already into a fresh ambitious project taking the hype momentum from both SH2R and MGS3R.
hope james actor is at least nominated on tga. Incredible work on it.
Good job bloober and konami working with each other,
and bringing gamers together!
Congratulations Bloober team! really makes this game alive again! Perfect in every way!
These devs nailed it 👌 as a new comer to SH,this is awesome. Stomping never gets old.
I'm glad to finally see the faces behind Bloober Team. I followed their work since Layers of Fear. This remake is a achievement.
8:10 noticed this detail right away when playing with my headset, it's a very nice touch.
The original is a better piece of art than it is an actual video game.
the sound design is so incredible, huge props to the team. also the music during the flesh lips fight is a bop
ive just gotten to the prison and up to this point ive been constantly going "damn the sound design is soo good" and "the lighting and composition is sooo good". everything is damn good, but its all presented with great subtlety. like everything is super refined in these aspects.
The Best Remake i´ve seen so far. My Favourite Game couldn´t get better.... i thought. Many thanks for such a great Re-enter!!!
this remake is incredible, thanks for this experience on ps5.
I hope they will do a chronological remake: Origins, 1 and 3.
Great job from Bloomer! Very glad to see such a good remake like this one.
I grew up playing SH,RE, GOW, MGS series and now I'm 32 grown man busy with life work etc. But time to play these OGG remake is a must for me.
Incredible casting for every single role
The little details are incredible and some of my favorite aspects of this game.
A fantastic remake of one of the most memorable games I've ever played. I've waited so long for this remake and I was NOT disappointed.
Best game of 2024!
I think a huge congratulations and thank you is in order. Fookin bravo bloober team, you did it and Im so grateful its good, given i love the original
This remake is criminally good, it should be illegal to top the original game, but you did so. Kudos for the team
Absolutely enjoying the remake!! Love the original and the remake so far is much better. Been a fan of SH since I played SH1 in 1999
I didn't realize the Bloober team was predominantly Polish that was a cool little detail to discover they did a fantastic job.
REALLY ENJOYED IT! JUST FINISHED MY FIRST RUN AND GOT HELLA SCARED! CRYED FELT ANXIOUS A ROLLERCOASTER OF EMOTIONS AS THE ORIGINAL! THANK YOU SO MUCH
Even the cast looks the same as in the game 😮 how phenomenal
Because they literally used their faces for their expressions.
Genius 😂😂😂😂
This game is the reason I bought ps5. I’m so glad it didn’t let me down. Played as a teenager and to this day it’s still my favorite franchise.
The acting in this game was just flawless
I just finished streaming this game and everyone did so good that I'm now a SIlent Hill fan. Officially.
I don't know about you but I feel that James is so far (if not the most vivid character in video games), everyone did a great job.
Omg the producers are POLISH 🎉❤
How interesting video, you guys nail it perfectly, the IT factor of the og SH games is very present in the remake, thanks for sharing your ideas and show us the love for the industry the team have!
Just proves that this game should have been played first, then judged they did a great job with it
I am not a part of everyone saying “we were wrong” and “the world doubted them and the game” because I didn’t doubt the game for a second. I knew it would be good and everyone needed to just wait and see first
This was remakes was absolutely phenomenal what an amazing job they did and Luke killed it
