    Those seats didn't look quite that bad when I put those covers on 😆
    There was another fabric used for the higher spec cars which lasted a bit better, especially on the 130 Rapids. There was also a UK dealer which fitted their own seat covers to their Estelles, and they lasted very well.
    Best of luck with the swappings. The dash swap should be quite simple once you have found the right nuts to undo! (from memory, just look for the ones fastening directly to the bulkhead, and not the bracket to the dash.)

      @Mickhanic-garage  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah they have suffered a bit, the fabric does seem to fall apart badly. I know the harder wearing fabric you mean. I'm.sure thr dash swop will be interesting, see how you got the wiring to fit as some switches are in different places..

      @@Mickhanic-garage I can't remember having to extend any wiring, so it should be quite straight forward for you!
      I've just had a thought about the heater controls though, I think you might need to remove the radio and black metal backing plate to do the swap.
      A thought on the different suspensions. I found that when the brown car was on its original axles, it would skip around a little on rough roads in a similar way to a live axle dies, the 130-style suspension gave a more settled ride.

    I had a pea green one with a black vinyl roof in 1994 when I was at college, my mums turkey cooking tray under the back end to catch the oil. Previous owner had fitted big flappy mudflaps on it and a ridiculously loud exhaust...it was an absolute bag of spanners but this was when I fell in love with Skoda and i still love the old school ones. Fantastic nostalgic video. 👍

    1.8 K engine... you hooligan!😊. Must be scary going round corners with that suspension!
    I bought a 130GL new in 1988. Absolutely loved it! The only mod I did was to replace the original carb with a replacement,(not uprated), twin choke Weber carb. Best thing I ever did, it didn't go out of tune at all....damn I miss it 😬

    • @Mickhanic-garage
      @Mickhanic-garage  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Its biggest issue with corners is how fast they come up! Yes it was a bit lairy but knowing its capabilities is key. Now it's got uprated springs, all new shocks and vented disc conversion it should be a lot better.. its no track car but certainly upsets faster cars 🤣

    I really like both of them.
    Being a Škoda enthusiast, and purist, I do prefer a factory original example, which would be the way I would go if I were fortunate enough to own one.
    I’m very fond of the 105/120/130 range, they evoke happy childhood memories❤.

      I'm usually very keen to keep things original, even down to tyres and radios bit it gets hard work.. this was my first big modification project, I'm keeping the brown one original by swapping everything back to standard..

    if you looking for an update to the mirrors, the older FX4 london taxi electric mirrors work and look good on the estelle / rapid, main mod is to sand down the mounting block to fit the estelle door profile
    my 120 five is the same colour as the brown on, same fade to it, it oxidizes really quick after its polished up
    i find that the older S type steering box type seems to have a quicker lock to lock, obviously the estelles have the rack and pinion type but i have done a swap with that onto an s-type, when i couldnt get parts for the older ones, i might swap it back though,

    The first car I bought was a brand new 120L Five Skoda in red (although it was more orange!). The car was built like a tank and for the price was reliable motoring. The only thing I got fed up with was the lack of performance so after about 2 years I bought a new 130 Rapid in black. This is the car that What Car (if memory serves) stated handled like a Porsche 911! 😳

      The 130 Rapid and Estelle were a bit better trimmed handles better and had a bit more go... I drove mine for a year as a standard 120 which was ok. Was peaceful and calm not like the hybrid demon it is now 🤣🤣

    Laughed at trying to get rear hub off with jammed keyway. Dragging around yard in circles behind f/truck. Bought mine back in the day £350. Off side of road sale. Sliding all over place on bench seat 😅😅 Begging the front end to grip in corners lol. Yours looks the business fella. Wicked swap. All the best with rest of build.

      Yeah the rear hubs go with a bang when they go with the puller. At least the 130 I won't have that issue any more!
