I was told a while back that there were workshops specialising in restoring these models in Czechia (The Czech Republic), where they have an iconic reputation. Maybe a short trip to Prague (lots of cheap flights) might help you source the parts you want? It's a lovely place to visit, many of the friendly locals speak quite good English and beer is dirt cheap! 😀 The Škoda museum at Mladá Boleslav, about an hours trip north of Prague, is also well worth a visit.
