  • I was curious how would things develop if the Male Trooper will side with the Empire, so I created new boosted Trooper. There is no Romance included and he was pure LS (from Default settings) And Wow....Last Elara´s response is really intense... :(
    Enjoy. :)

    This is why I love Elara - Malavai comes groveling regardless of the choice but Elara sticks by her morals; her character development over her companion story and the War on Iokath is probably the best in the game

      Big Like! Exactly my thoughts. When I played this expansion (with this boosted Trooper) and for the purposes of video and curiosity to see how it will be different, I have chosen to side with the Empire. And through the whole process, when I was killing Republic Troopers, it felt so unnatural. Like, no matter what would head figures in the Republic do, how they would treat me. But I could never (in my real Trooper gameplay) side with the Empire, because I knew, that I would have to my destroy the soldiers which I swore to protect and guide. Maybe the exact same soldiers who served under me. I think Elara was completely right in this.

      Yeah but where the hell was the Republic during the whole Alliance vs Eternal Empire war? They didn't lift a finger to help, while Acina had your back the whole time. Not to mention Saresh tries to have you assasinated, so the Republic can go screw themselves imo.

    • @alamedaace8522
      @alamedaace8522 7 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Acina didn't have your back the whole time - she joined in only after the Battle of Odessen and on Iokath she admits she only helped because it would help her (and tries to pretend like sending troops to Iokath to get the superweapon is no big deal). lastly, the Republic DID sit out the war, but they weren't the ones that send Saresh (they tell you they don't care what you do with her and her partners were mercenaries and an Imperial)

    • @sebbysanity
      @sebbysanity 7 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Regardless of what the leading officials did during the war on Iokath, it is important to remember that the Alliance is made up of people from both sides who decided to fight for the greater good. While Acina may have decided to help, It was a choice made after we (the alliance) waged war on the Gemini fleet and Arcaan. Acina had undisputed power in the Empire and if you think about it was probably influenced by Lorman to invite us to Kaas City so he could assassinate us. Acina joining us was little more than opportunistic, the republic was probably focusing on rebuilding/defending themselves.

    It was REALLY hard to like the Republic in this expansion.
    At war with the Eternal Empire? Sure, tons of Republic soldiers and Jedi joined up, but the Republic ITSELF would have happily sold the Alliance to Arcann or Vaylin to curry favor. Eventually despite the inevitable reprisal, even the Sith Empire signed on with a rather dramatic and clear show of force and solidarity. And the Republic... is responsible for backing a coup attempt on Empress Acina and assassination attempt on the Alliance Commander, so Saresh could assume control of it (There's no way she had the resources to do it without considerable support). When that failed, they didn't pop their heads up again until the war was over.
    And what was the first thing Supreme Commander Malcom did? Apologize for the Republic basically abandoning one of their most stalwart heroes when they needed them most, and not even helping when the friggin' EMPIRE was willing to step up? Apologize for Saresh's BS in any meaningful way? Nah! He lets you know the Republic is willing to forgive you and take you back, as long as you stab you current allies in the back for them so they can get their hands on a superweapon NO ONE should have.
    Not even allowing for a cease-fire to sort the mess out and the fact all three factions had been quite obviously manipulated.
    And if you DO side with them, the 'Ra ra go troops!' nonsense is just OFFENSIVE at that point after what you've been through. Spouting all the typical anti-Imperial rhetoric to someone who HALF THEIR FORCES are ex-Imperial, and who's life was saved on Voss by Imperial intervention, and then again from a REPUBLIC assassination attempt.
    Thanks, Jace. Thanks for making the choice EASY for my Bounty Hunter, and really REALLY friggin' hard for my light side Jedi.

    • @jedimasterren5520
      @jedimasterren5520 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      You know I actually would’ve liked if the republic during the fallen empire expansion would’ve stabbed you in the back to gain favor with Arcann or Vaylin (depending on the expansion) Now that would’ve been extremely interesting.

    • @AnodyneJS
      @AnodyneJS 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Saresh led that assassination/coup plot. Did she have some help? Most certainly, but probably only from a handful of loyalists. All that she needed was the ability to communicate with Lorman to form the plan, money to pay the GenoHaradan and a ship to take her to Odessen. A few loyal aides could have made all of that happen. I sincerely doubt that the Madon or Malcom would have wanted her to have control of the Alliance. It was even quite possible that Saresh's influence kept the Republic from approaching the Alliance in the first place, leaving the opening for the Empire to do so, but we can't know that with the information that we were given. As far as the aftermath of the decision, Acina is every bit as dismissive of the Republic, and your Alliance is also full of those as well. What you said here was your justification, and that's fine. It's your story, you can fill in the gaps where the writers left it vague however you see fit.
      On the other hand, I chose the Republic on every one of my class mains, and would probably do so on nearly any other character to go through this. My reasoning is that we have two factions coming at us with a proverbial knife there. One is running face first at us brandishing the knife, while the other cozied up to us and attempted to stick that knife in our back. Being attacked openly is a damn sight better than being betrayed in my book. That was not left vague.

The Republic isn't perfect by any means, but people who act like the Empire is ACTUALLY morally superior are laughable xD

    Elara herself is a traitor, no matter how she justified that. Personally, I don't see a problem if you can create Fel Empire-like, liberal regime with Imperial Knights-like protectors. Council of Moffs instead of Dark Council and centralised imperial rule don't seem as bad idea - so it's logical to rather start with Sith Empire than to try 'fix' the corrupted republic with too many interests. In this particular case, if Trooper romances Lana, it totally reminds me Jagged Fel romancing Jaina Solo :)

      10 months late, but i don't care. ''small choice'' dude, this character just sided with the sith empire, the faction she dedicated her life to fight against, how is that a small choice?

    "Good soldiers always follow orders" is something she would say to me when we played in the basic campaign. It hurts to see a teammate be mad at you.

    For all of my characters I haven't bee able to bring myself to have them side with the opposite faction.
    Even if it's a new character of the same class. I am very tempted thought to have my Imperial agent to side with the Republic because she is a spy after all.

    Is this the last the Trooper Commander see's of Dorne?

      So far, yes. That said, there's no confirmation of her dying anywhere so there's a chance we could see her again.
      Given the comments on Elara's alleged hypocrisy, that would be cool to see Bioware address it if a reunion happens.

    I hope we get to see her again in the future (in timelines where you sided with the Empire on Iokath, of course).
    My guess is she'll appear again when the player starts to actively search for the Jedi-in-hiding. If so, I imagine there will be a BIG discussion, especially if the Trooper went back into the Republic for Ossus.

    The last 2 are so hypocritical. You always have the attack fleet and super weapon if you side with the Republic. Moreover Dorne is just as responsible for killing your soldiers and that of your allies. I think pointing out the fact you chose to fight her would have been enough. Then again, she came prepared to fight you too.

    Am I the only one who thinks she's right, even for a light side playthrough. Light or dark, who chose you to become a dictator of the galaxy? what gave you the right? The right to decide which planets get food as which ones starve? Which factions get their claims legitimised? Who will say what you are doing is wrong? And who can overrule you if the actions you take are petty or wrong?
    Spoiler Alert:
    Theron is right, you don't deserve this power, you need to be brought down. And not be replaced with just another dictator, no matter how many food packages you sent or people you spare. It should never have been in your hands to make those choices. And Theron might win, that Chiss had the vision that he would, and it's inevitable that somehow in someway, the eternal alliance must fall, along with the empire.
    Because neither were present during the clone wars

      mini2239 If I remember correctly, Lana, Theron and the others during chapter 8 or 9 didn't give you a choice, they all basically TOLD you you were going to be the commander. Remember, in the game, our characters are Mary Sues and Martin Stus. So we're like the most powerful people in the galaxy, universe, etc. Remember leveling up how stuff we, the players, found easily done but the quest givers acted like it was damn near impossible for them or armies to do? It was like with Quinn's dumb ass betrayal during the sw story, if you were light sided or even married to him, it made no sense for him to be a douche canoe, but if you were dark side homocidal and treated all your companions like shit, then it made more sense. Hell, I would have betrayed a jedi if they were dark side and an ass hat.
      But my point is, that the reason you're in charge is because Lana and the others made you in charge. They didn't vote on it, or give you a choice. Lana even says they didn't give you a choice, you just were. So if Theron is all butt hurt over you having 'power' or being a dictator, it's his own fault for not speaking up when they made you the commander of the alliance.

    • @mini2239
      @mini2239 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Perhaps, but take away the gameplay barrier of not having a choice and simply take this from the perspective of someone in the universe my point still stands. The outlander could have always blown up the fleet

      mini2239 everybody fucked up but you, and empress acina is trying to keep the empire alive republic is bloated running out of resources falling apart and can't decide on doing anything is run by people who's best skill is talking. emperor vaylin and arcan are mad tyrants
      And elara is an hypocrite oh I'm sure the supperweapon is an paperweight for the supremechancilor who's an puppet without an master after chapter 2
      And SPOILERS Theron hasn't betrayed you but tried to save the galaxy from the order of zildrog finding zildrog but you lose the gravestone and the fleet

    • @obi-wankenobi8406
      @obi-wankenobi8406 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      mini2239 falling apart doesn't mean it will rigth now there are major shortages in raw resources
      And look at the republic after the war with exar it spawned 3 more wars witch crippled the republic than they rebuilt than came 2 wars with the sith empire and one more with the ethereal empire and than 1 more with the sith which they nearly lost and entered the dark age losing alot of knowledge and technology and completely forgot about yavin 4 and losing most of the planets outside of the core
