To generate subtitles there's a very useful function under "video/audio to text" which can use Vosk speech models to generate subtitles from the audio data. This also need manual corrections, but saves a lot of typing. The speech models exist in quite a few languages, although the English one is probably the best one.

Is it possible to merge two subtitles (english and spanish) and arrange it in top / bottom? Like, the english subtitle is sitting in top and the spanish subtitle is in the bottom. Because right now, auto-translate and merging the two subtitles will put them side by side to each other which I think is very confusing to read.
@@andybobson5906 I'd say create subtitles in both languages, then export the video with the burned in subtitles in one language, then open the video again in the software, add the subtitles in the second language and move them on the top of the screen. Right now it's the fastest solution I could find, but let me work on it and I'll eventually make a tutorial about it 😊
Very nice video!! I’m currently a student in a translation department and one of my essays is subtitling a 15min video (transcription and translation). One big question I have and searched everywhere for the answer is about the frames. The professor told us to keep the settings in the software at 25 frames per second, but the video I chose for the essay is 60 frames per second. Do I keep the default frame rate in subtitle edit at 25 or do I change it to match the frame rate of the video I’m subtitling? Thank you very much!!! Love from Greece ❤

But I have a question: I want to create styles of different colors for each character in a series (the subs will be in .ass format so that styles like this are compatible). I have already figured out how to create the styles but my question is the following: The built-in player only shows the subs in the color and font designated in the program settings so I cannot preview how they look. Is there a way to do it? Thanks in advance.
Hi! So sorry I missed your comment! If you select the word, right click and change the color or font, you should be able to also have a preview button! If not, maybe try and download an updated version
Great beginners tutorial. Thank you ! Just one thing I hope you can advise on. I have an accurate srt file but it gradually loses sync as it plays using KM player. Is there a way to do a global change to, say fix the last line and one of the early lines and have it automatically adjust the time codes of the intervening lines ? Many thanks for considering this.

I want to upload my srt file, then change the font of the whole video's subtitles to something that my viewers can easier read (I use Handbrake at the moment). Right now, in subtitle Edit, I can select individual text lines, and change font, etc, but I can't select the whole text and change the font?? My subscribers, well, some, have complained that my English subtitles created by Handbrake are hard to read. Any more help/suggestion would be very much appreciated. Thanks heaps, Claudia!

You seem to have the supernatural ability to look at a wave form and know what words it represents. I assume you missed out a step where you listen to the highlighted stretch of sound before typing the words.

Hi, thanks! If you head to options > settings > appearance and choose the font/size/color and then hit "ok", these parameters should stay the same every time you use the software! You can always go back there and change them or restore the default ones

I have been editing the subtitles for a television series, and it uses .ass style, there is a option to change the styles of the .ass files. hello ! As you are, in the box where you are writing the subtitle, by right clicking with the mouse you will see different options at the end of the list you will see the option 'insert unicode symbol' you will see several symbols, choose the one you need. I hope it has been useful to you 😊

@@mohdhafizzulmohdsalleh6846 Hi! You can't cut subtitles but you can move them in the timeline. Try this: select the lines you want to move, then right click > "selected lines" > show selected lines earlier/later 😊

Hello, I am having a problem and it is that when I highlight each word, sometimes it separates me with a gap time between words on the same line as if they were different lines, which causes flickering in the subtitles. Would you know the solution?
Hey! Yes you can: once you have the subtitles, select the words you'd like to change in terms of font or color, right click, and then choose between bold, italic, underline, color and font 🙂 If you need a quick tutorial about it, please let me know!
Hey! To change the colour of the subtitles head to options > settings > appearance and change the "subtitle font color" ☺ What do you mean by adjusting the start time?

Generate text from audio via VOSK speech recognition, do this: On the Menu bar, select Video, Audio to text. In the new window, under MOdels", and "choose model", click the button to download the 128 MB VOSK model and allow it to download and install the VOSK pack. Under INPUT box, insert your movie that has the audio you want converted to text and hit GENERATE. Just wait the 10-15 minutes and it makes your SRT file for you with its notification to you.

Hello! There is a chance to select lines, for example, from line 363 to line 784 and not with ctrl button and left click because it takes a lot of time. I've tried with odd numbers and then with even numbers but you must deselect a lot. I will be very happy if you will tell me the right answer. Maybe it's a simple way and it is my fault. Thanks!
Hi, how are you. If you need to select several lines of already created subtitles, you position yourself with the mouse on the first line you want to select, (CTRL+left click) and then by holding down CTRL + the down or up arrow the rest of the lines that you want are selected. you want :(ctrl+⬆) or (ctrl +⬇)

@@C.SynergyOfficial hi! For your first question, you can generate automatic subtitles in that language and then use the auto-translate button which will make English subtitles for you (but make sure to correct them eventually)
@@C.SynergyOfficial as for the synchronization, I'm not sure I understood correctly, but you'd probably have to adjust it manually once you have the translated subtitle if it doesn't match the audio as you want

Hi! Just click on Video > Audio to text (whisper). You should have both whisper and vosk as options. If not, try and download a different version of the software :)
i wanna subtitle animes with it but i dont know how to save the file as mp4 or similar. the audio is japanese so i add japanese vosk audio to text. then i have japanese text as subtitle and then i do auto translate to german and the japanese subtitle text switches into german subtitles. but i have no clue how i can save it as an mp4 etc all the options i see i never saw that data type before and my player dont play these

Hi! So the difference would be on exporting the file: if you want closed captions, it means they are burned into the video (I have another tutorial for how to do this), but if you export the SRT file separately (file > save as) it means they're open and you can switch them on and off as you please

Nice video, but I was asking why you did'nt use vosk ai to make the subtitles faster? You will find that on video... audio to text (vosk/kaldi) first time you have to download a vosk ai model on your language just clic on ... then select and download with the video loaded just clic on generate, I know its not perfect but it's very accurate and then just manually fix it, there's a huge different if you do the subtitles using that powerful tool, I speak spanish sorry if I make some mistakes on my message I tried to do my best, have a nice day. you can keep it at 25 fps as your professor told you, it shouldn't be a problem :)

Hey, do you mean in this software or afterwards, while playing the movie with VLC or other players?

Hi Claudia, do you already have video on how to cut a subtitle. Let say we already have existing subtitle for existing video. Let say I edit the video by cutting out one scene. So is there any way I want to cut the subtitle out so that it will still sync with the video
@@mohdhafizzulmohdsalleh6846 Hi! You can't cut subtitles but you can move them in the timeline. Try this: select the lines you want to move, then right click > "selected lines" > show selected lines earlier/later 😊

That's weird, it never happened to me. Try to uninstal the software and download it again!

Although, merge as dialog and merge with previous line , both of these options are working absolutely correctly

Hey! To change the colour of the subtitles head to options > settings > appearance and change the "subtitle font color" ☺ What do you mean by adjusting the start time?

Generate text from audio via VOSK speech recognition, do this:
On the Menu bar, select Video, Audio to text. In the new window, under MOdels", and "choose model", click the button to download the 128 MB VOSK model and allow it to download and install the VOSK pack.
Under INPUT box, insert your movie that has the audio you want converted to text and hit GENERATE. Just wait the 10-15 minutes and it makes your SRT file for you with its notification to you.

Hi, how are you. If you need to select several lines of already created subtitles, you position yourself with the mouse on the first line you want to select, (CTRL+left click) and then by holding down CTRL + the down or up arrow the rest of the lines that you want are selected. you want :(ctrl+⬆) or (ctrl +⬇)
i have a question that what if video language is not English and creator or editor has asked to add subtitle into English would it automatically generate Non-English content's subtitles into English? furthermore i wanna know that i have tiny issue with ready made subtitle timestamp which kind a shifty how can it easily be done? another issue that the language of the particular video is not English so how can i make its stamp synchronization correctly?
@@C.SynergyOfficial hi! For your first question, you can generate automatic subtitles in that language and then use the auto-translate button which will make English subtitles for you (but make sure to correct them eventually)
@@C.SynergyOfficial as for the synchronization, I'm not sure I understood correctly, but you'd probably have to adjust it manually once you have the translated subtitle if it doesn't match the audio as you want

Before exporting I check the font, the color which is white (FDFDFDFF and/or FFFFFF), I export... but the subtitles still look like they are of very low quality

Hi! Just click on Video > Audio to text (whisper). You should have both whisper and vosk as options. If not, try and download a different version of the software :)
i wanna subtitle animes with it but i dont know how to save the file as mp4 or similar. the audio is japanese so i add japanese vosk audio to text. then i have japanese text as subtitle and then i do auto translate to german and the japanese subtitle text switches into german subtitles. but i have no clue how i can save it as an mp4 etc all the options i see i never saw that data type before and my player dont play these

Does the Video>Open video file generate soundwave instantly for every video? It usually takes like a minute or two to generate if you do it manually.
It should only take a couple of seconds to generate!

Hi! So the difference would be on exporting the file: if you want closed captions, it means they are burned into the video (I have another tutorial for how to do this), but if you export the SRT file separately (file > save as) it means they're open and you can switch them on and off as you please

Nice video, but I was asking why you did'nt use vosk ai to make the subtitles faster? You will find that on video... audio to text (vosk/kaldi) first time you have to download a vosk ai model on your language just clic on ... then select and download with the video loaded just clic on generate, I know its not perfect but it's very accurate and then just manually fix it, there's a huge different if you do the subtitles using that powerful tool, I speak spanish sorry if I make some mistakes on my message I tried to do my best, have a nice day.
