Pah-TREE-see-ah YAH-netch-koh-VAH (Slovak pronunciation) Patricia was only 17 at the time of this performance. The coloratura skill exhibited is very remarkable for one so young. I absolutely loved your Masterclass reaction and analysis of this piece. Very nice background info as well. This is one of my all-time favorite arias. It is IMO Offenbach’s finest effort in combining delightful humor with truly gorgeous singing and music, something also found in his Orphée aux enfers. It is not simply the doll motif that is funny. The lyrics are silly - birdsong and love everywhere - almost to the point of being a send-up of Romantic traditions. Nonetheless it is truly beautiful aria, although a real challenge to sing. Great job Jess! Thank you!
Thanks for the help with the pronunciation of her name! I, too, love this piece by Offenbach. I love seeing how different soprani bring this doll to life

I love your technical analysis of Miss Janeckova. Spot on! I took voice lessons in college hoping for a career in opera as a baritone. Instead, I gave private voice lessons. A career in opera didn't happen. Patricia's technique was flawless! I love her!
Your patrons have chosen a very good theme, with a great technique and an exceptional staging, from the beginning to the end, with the doll saying goodbye to his audience from the shoulder of his "creator". On your part you have demonstrated a technique that we all knew and your sympathy when showing it to your audience does not detract at all the great performance of this artist that you have just incorporated to your channel. Wow, Jess, I love this reaction and technical analysis! I think it has become my favourite reaction and technical analysis, because of the pure delight in your face as you listened and the depth of detail in your analysis! It will become the third reaction to a Patricia Janeckova performance that I will return to just to watch the reactor's expressions of delight as they listen. I have heard two other professional singers analyse this performance and they both noted, as you do, her precision on the trills and stacatti and the quality of her voice remaining even as she moves up in her register. I would love to have you react to more of Patricia's performances - any or all of three Rossini arias, L'Orgia, La Pastorella delle Alpi, La Danza (conveniently all three have been published together in a post by user pa1189j) , or Fruhlingsstimmen, Mein Herr Marquis by Strauss. Thanks again for a very enjoyable and educational analysis.

I love the performance of Patricia, but, for me, the most impressive version is from Sabine Devieilhe. What she does with this song is from another world.
Hi from Brazil, dear! I love your channel and your reviews! It must be awesome to talk about music for hours and hours with you! I love this version of this aria (she's 17 y/o!!!) and the extra effort put into it, but my favorite one is still Nathalie Dessay singing it pregnant at La Scala. For some reason I find it to be a very "elegant" rendition, meaning that nothing is trully overdone. It's as delicate as a feather yet preserving the "fantastic" side of the scene. Maybe it's just a "La Scala" thing, but it is trully magical and the public goes nuts! Maria Aleida and Sabine Devieilhe absolutely blew my mind with their staccati too. Maria sounds borderline robotic, like a "real doll". Sabine slays also. Her singing is smoother and "human" but on the other hand it's probably the cleanest in terms of sound itself. It's like fine crystal and many notes could trully be confused with a high pitch of a violin or a flute if isolated. Her look is terrible though. Lol.
Thank you for such a penetrating analysis of this magical performance by Patricia. In due course, perhaps you could look at one of her more recent performances - for example th-cam.com/video/43I6cIqtj9o/w-d-xo.html or th-cam.com/video/8WrXtnCX_9g/w-d-xo.html. Many thanks again.

As a person who loves singing, and who married a person whose singing sounds like a brain damaged hippopotamus I would overhear it and I would cringe and then I'd think, I love them anyway. But IT WAS A RED FLAG. That's my fault. All my bad. Because overlooking a bad voice, let me tell you, it eventually comes back to haunt you. Then, one day, it's just over. You can't do it anymore. It begins to be tortorous. It's impossible to unhear the worst singing in the world. Always ask your lover to sing for you BEFORE you commit. Before hand, always. I named my child after Mary Costa, my very first love. I hope my daughter doesn't have her mother's voice, I pray, please god. I beg thee. Now I know I should have listened for a mate, not looked for one. Who cares if your face is a train wreck or your body looks like a nightmare! If you sound pretty, you are pretty. If not, well... The voice reflects the character, I have learned, as well, that your mate is hiding. When my ex roared it wasn't a lioness'es roar, and really, I would have loved that. I would have purred back. T'was the devil's roar, a mixture of screaming bullfrogs, half squashed racoon raodkill, and dying goats. Loved your analysis and your voice; love it. There is a God.
thank you, love it! notice: the vowel can last as long as we please. consonants are staccato 🤍 i taught myself how to sing. i worked my range up to a true soprano, not bad for 5’11” but i pay the price by having such a constructed nasal passage.
Tu n'arrives même pas à la cheville de Patricia. Qui es-tu pour la critiquer? 😞
Por favor, analiza a Yma Sumac, es espectacular!! 🎶🎼✨

thank you, love it!
notice: the vowel can last as long as we please. consonants are staccato 🤍 i taught myself how to sing. i worked my range up to a true soprano, not bad for 5’11” but i pay the price by having such a constructed nasal passage. God loves us in all kinds of ways.
love,

the speed of the descent of the pure note makes it slightly atonal.
yan-ech-ko-uh, btw
