I have only realized after editing/posting that I referenced this performance of Laudate Dominum from Mozart's Requiem (K.626) which this is not from. It is from Mozart's Vesperae Solennes de Confessore K.339. RIP to the beautiful Patricia Janečková (1998-2023) and prayers continue to her friends and family 💛
I am shocked. I just saw her Doll Aria. She was really talented in that performance for her age. Now, she's gone. I definitely will say a prayer for her. Thank you, Jessica, for putting up this video.
Dear Jessica, Thank you for your reaction, i admired yours on the doll song of Patricia, watched it several times and was hoping you would give us more of her. Would you be so kind to give us as well a reaction to one of the latest pieces Patricia sang, where her voice was more adult? In remembering Patricia, it's sad the accent is put on her younger years, as she became even more sublime growing up. I hope you will do, many whom love Patricia will be grateful.

Thank you Jessica for sharing the work of this exceptionally talented and ultimately tragically-fated young coloratura. There are many uf us who are still reeling from the loss. I believe she started training at the age of four, and her father was a professional cellist, so you could say she was born to it. Her passing was not widely reported in the western media. Thank you also for your expert technical analysis of the music itself and its latin meaning. RIP, our angel on Earth- and our beloved Mozart.
there should be a concerted effort to promote patricia's name in the west! a biography, documentary, stage musical, fil, in english & the release of her work on cd & dvd would elevate her to star status, posthumously, like eva cassidy!!!!
Yes Jessica. Read up about her life… she sang at age four. Her father is a cellist. so, yes, yes…. Lots of talent ,lots of musicality in the family….it is a terrible loss to all the world. Thank goodness we can hear her beautiful voice forever…
there needs to be a book, documentary, stage musical &/or a film written/made about patricia & her work should be available on cd & dvd! certainly a 'greatest hits' type compilation album should be released with her fans voting for say between 20 & thirty songs! also, 'AI' might possibly be used like it was with ABBA & THE BEATLES!!!
Very interesting review, thanks; this was instructive. I must have listened to this performance by our beloved Patricia over a hundred times. Most remarkable. It led many to refer to her fondly as the Queen of Amen. What a great artist we lost. She is sorely missed.
I too cannot get enough of this “amen” but the Les Talens Lyriques performance of the Pergolesi Stabat Mater with Sabina Puértolas and Vivica Genaux also has a wonderful amen complete with a priceless radiant but only MOMENTARY grin upon its conclusion by the otherwise totally serious Ms. Puértolas that expresses her joy in singing this sublime composition, and the extraordinary quality of this performance.
Hello Georges, poor Patricia created a place in our hearts, even our souls where she'll be forever. For me it's still complicated to listen to her; the loss blocks a full apriciation of what she sings. Mourning takes time.

Hello Jessica ! Thank you for paying such a beautiful tribute to this young soprano. You give a very clever and accurate analysis, and after all with a very pedagogic and clear approach, which is definitely necessary for a beginner in music theory like me... Her performance, as you said, was very impressive and well controlled. If you can sing Mozart well, you can sing everything, and clearly Patricia Janeckova could... It was a tragedy she left us so soon. Just a few words about the text in latin. I think "manet" means "remains", as you said, but this word is in the second phrase. "Quoniam confirmata est super nos misericordia ejus, et veritas Domini manet in aeternum". You can translate it as :"For the mercy of the Lord on us is strengthened and His truth remains forever".
I thoroughly enjoyed your video explaining her technique as well as music theory but I cried 😢 because I've been following her for years and I was a fan, I didn't know that she died until today. I am heartbroken.😭
I found Patricia on a video of her country's talent contest singing Once Upon A Time In The West(a capella)which she won. At that time I was not a huge opera buff but her voice and vibrato called to me. I did not hear of her passing until about the end of the month she died. RIP dearest Patka. 😭😭😭One of the world's greatest voices stilled forever. 😭😭😭
The most beautiful recording of this fabulous piece of music since that by Ursula van Diemen in 1927. What a tragic loss to the world of opera and the liturgy.
I have only come across Patricia today by chance. Love my classical orchestral music but yet to be taken by the opera. I was immediately moved by her. Absolutely beautiful to listen to. I am sorry to all those still mourning her loss. I look forward to listening to her more.
Your reaction is so beautiful as it is apparent how physically and emotionally the music moves you. It’s impossible to listen to, especially knowing Ms Janećková’s fate, without shedding tears for the terrible tragedy of her death, far too young.
I really enjoyed this. Hope to hear much more of you. I am a musician but not a singer. I love Patricia's hauntingly beautiful voice and culture of singing. This extremely sad and untimely loss reminds me of Kathleen Ferrier's fate. Different times, different style. But I adore both singers. They passed on. To me, they are not dead. Can't be...
