@@jessicasopranonotes so i know im late but when kristen does live shows like this with high octane parts where there is no time for music cues, she collabs with the conductor and substitute conductor so that she can implant acting cues into her performance so the conductors know when to continue. If u look at the conductor through out. u will see him looking at kristen multiple times keeping an eye out coz its coming up to her cues and he is making sure its to her timing.
This is my all time favorite performance by Kristin! It's a testament to her powerhouse coloratura and incredible acting abilities, which as a fan and fellow soprano, I just can't get enough! She's probably the only person that can shoo Patti LuPone off the stage and get away with it, lol! Thank you for doing a deep dive as only you can! I do have the sheet music for this, but I haven't looked at it in a while because it's just so difficult, but I'm curious as to what dialogue, if any, is in it. I'll let you know in Discord. Thanks again Jess!
There's a good chance she was naturally that hyper, I've been a fan of hers for years and I've found no other explanation. She is trained in opera, though, not just musical theatre. She was also in her late 30s here, which is (I believe) around peak age for a woman's voice, isn't it? Overall she's just an amazing combination of natural talent and hard work and we stan
The "Oh my God!" was her ad lib for comic effect. I did a concert version of this show playing Dr. Pangloss. I would suggest that you listen to the original Broadway cast recording to hear Barbara Cook's incredible performance of this aria. And you are correct about the overture. How often does the overture of a Broadway musical become a standard piece for symphony orchestras around the world?
@MsAliciaRL The same can be said for "On The 20th Century". It's a musical, but musically, it's an operetta. And don't get me started on "Sweeney Todd" which is, as far as I'm concerned, an opera.
We did Candide in college, and our Cunegonde was terrific. Knowing what I do now about voice and the difficulty of that role, and remembering what I do about her performance, she was really great! This was over 25 years ago now, but still so memorable.
Has anyone seen Kristen's performance of " The Girl in 14 G"? It was a piece written for her, and absolutely showcases her talents for singing and acting.
@dianesparrow1592 That’s what I came here to say. That’s my favorite for. The Charismatic Singer has a reaction to that one, but not this song. Now we just need to get Jessica to react to that one and Elizabeth to do this one. Then we’ll be really happy. Lol
Hi, thanks for this! Great vid. 😀 btw Hannah Corneau's performance of No Good Deed from Wicked posted by the TH-cam chanel Broadwaycom might make a cool analysis some day (its not a bootleg). She played Elphaba. She has an eeriness that I'd love to hear you analyze.
I watched another analysis of this performance. They also pointed out that it was difficult to sing in sitting and leaning position like Ms. Chenoweth did at the beginning of the song, in corset most likely. And yet she still sang perfectly.
I like Kristin's interpretation of the character. She put her own spin on a role originated by the immortal Ms. Barbara Cook. I feel like if she didnt take the character in this direction the performance would have come off as her trying to impersonate Ms. Cook.
Hi, you have a very interesting channel with very good music 👌 I subscribe here. You could make a reaction to the video clip of Enamorada (Tour Minage) by the singer Monica Naranjo. She's amazing. Greetings and congratulations. I leave you the link of the video in the comment below 😜👍
I can't tell you anything about her fitness routine, but I can tell you that she has asthma, Which makes this even more impressive.
I had no idea! wow!

Because it's more of an operetta than a musical. Musically, Candide is more similar to H.M.S. Pinafore than West Side Story.

Love that you pointed out the breath thing being part of the character or intent, I’m def gonna add that my practice❤

I've seen it and I have the sheet music...it's a tour de force (diaphragm workout)!

@@frankiek2269 I agree absolutely. Jessica and Elizabeth are my favorites to watch for their analysis of performances.
This is one of my favortie performances of hers❤, cant wait for your masterclass analysis 😊
Omgosh, I'm so excited!!!!! Love me some Kristin Chenoweth! 😊

She is a rare talent.
I agree!

I love watching you watch her.
I think the "Oh my God" was just an adlib response to the fact she fell short of the spot on the couch where she was actually supposed to land.

She has a part of the PAC in Broken Arrow, Okla named after her, has some of her out fits. That woman is tiny like really.
This reminds me of pistol annies hell on heels
