If it's something is not right, they are supposed to run around the vault or abort the run up - then they deducted a full point for trying again. Honestly though, I don't know why it really matters if they touch the springboard or horse and just abort the run - it's an aborted attempt both ways so let everyone try again if it happens.
@@hymnovortexlyricsedits5298 How is it a fair rule though? Because I get deducting points for a second attempt but I don't see why touching the vault matters.
Someday a gymnast will miscalculate, try to avoid the springboard not to be given a 0 and injure him/herself in the process. Only then they will analyze if the springboard/vault rule is worth.
Not in the Olympics, but in the USAG D.P. Program, you are allowed to touch the vault table and springboard so you do not injure yourself trying to stop.
What struck me watching this is there is not really enough room at the side of the vault podium to abort a run without touching the springboard or vault. You can't just stop from a sprint. Domestic, smaller competitions are better in this respect as they tend to be held on a flat floor. As a coach I think it's vital as a safety measure to have the option to safely abort a vault.
Ive done the UB touch and salute in the brazilian national championship since i had no chance of actually getting on the podium (never was my best), the athletes that already presented that day had done better than i could with an injured wrist and i didn't want to risk injuring more and not being able to do the vault (that i did have a good chance and actually got silver). As Nadia stated, "every gymnast has only so many routines in their life to perform before the risk is higher than that of gracefully saluting and not performing.

In artistic gymnastics there is something called a “run-through” when a gymnast runs up to the vault, hurdles, and leaps aside before touching anything. It is drilled into the mind of every gymnast since they are young, it is literally the first thing you learn. It’s to avoid circumstances like this. Also, the criteria for “attempting” a vault is so strict because otherwise it is too general. They touched the springboard but not the vault? Well, there are actually some vault routines that involve completely going over the table, and it could be argued that if a gymnast messed up that routine, she should get a second turn because she didn’t touch the table. She touched the apparatuses but didn’t jump? Okay, what do you mean she didn’t jump, do you mean she didn’t go all the way over the vault or that her feet never left the table? Couldn’t it be argued that if the gymnast only jumped a little it’s okay? And then how far can that line be pushed? See, this is why they have strict guidelines. Very nice editing, but its kinda annoying that the intro to a person is longer than the actual vault lol
i look at the title and imagine elgintensity commenting about crossfit kipping pull ups
These girls work too hard to get a 0...there must be something here. I hope their lives are not adversely affected by one event in all the times they strive for their own excellence.
I know if a very slight miss of attempt doesn't mean you're not capable..it means every attempt was to win this as a team of professionals.. As a young adult or past...great outfits
Ellie Black and Maria Paseka look so young. Good times.
4:39 like vanessa ferrari in 2021 tokyo Olympic
Hannah Wheelan scored a zero on her DTY in AA 2012 too
Yeah that was upsetting for her as she would automatically place last in the final and she really wanted to place higher, which is why she risked the DTY at all, when she normally did a much cleaner/safer 1.5Y.
Then what constitutes 1s and 2s?
4:30 I would've been pissed, and I feel like maybe she was, that I didn't get to perform and have fun lmao.
maria was a vault specialist and bars wasnt really her thing, so i guess she was just fine with that
@@bonsoircheri7014 oh, that's good, then. Thanks (:
just to clarify Keshia did it for the same reason as Maria?

Sorry but have you already posted this video? Or I just think so.

Lol, the last 2 were bosses. 😂🤭
Gymnastic rules are so harsh and that what makes the sport that much harder
They said bye 🚶🏻♀️
Is this still the rule today? So they don't even get the difficulty points?
