Why I Left the Mormon Church

- Hi yall, this is different from my usual content, but as it is now 2021... one of my goals is to speak my truth and to be more of my authentic self. I feel like it's time I share my story (about many things) but especially about being part of the mormon church. This is a general brief overview, but I have a lot more to say, so stay tuned! I don't intend to be hateful, only truthful and open and real. Hope someone can relate :)
You're very articulate, aware, brave, humble, broad minded, and beautiful. Not trying to diss your old circle of friends/family who remain in the cult, but you're head and shoulders above that flock. "Reprogramming" is such a poignent, insightful, accurate, concise word to use. I wish you the speediest recovery from the emotional upheaval that comes w/taking back your life/personal identity. You are so not average, it's no wonder the cult wasn't for you; I wish you the very best. (*edit*) I forgot to add DIGNIFIED! when I described you. I would be honored to meet you in person, I hope our paths cross some day.
I was raised in the LDS church, but have left the church. My immediate and extended family are all still in the church, it can feel so lonely to be the only one out. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for leaving and for taking your weakness and confusion out from among us.
@@johnlee1352 trolling and sending hate comments to people who left the church is a great example of Mormon Christlike behavior
@@carsonk6221 No wonder you're lonely...coming to these sites to seek the fawning approval of the haters will only get you loneliness.
@Blackpill Calisthenics Stay out. Your weakness and confusion are not welcome. Socialize among the dross and offal who come here to bash the Mormons.
@Blackpill Calisthenics Neither is showing up to church with rancor in your heart..."just to socialize". It's clear you are not a Mormon. Stay out.
I left the Mormon church in 2014, and it feels amazing to see another fellow person of color speaking up about this. I typically only hear the perspectives of white people leaving the church (not that it's a bad thing, but their experiences are usually not the same as mine), so this was so refreshing to watch. Thank you for sharing your story -- it means a lot!
Thanks for leaving and for taking your weakness and confusion out from among us.
@@johnlee1352 Thank you for the sweet message! As the LDS apostles, prophets, and Jesus Christ said, thinking and spreading kind thoughts is a Christlike attribute; we must treat each other with kindness and respect. ❤️ Wishing you the best in your faith journey!
@@roselynnr Mine has ended. That's why I'm glad you left!

@@johnlee1352 Really, John Lee. Don’t you ever get tired of typing this same sentence in your replies to ex-Mormons, after years of doing so?
Have you ever done any study for yourself of the history of the LDS church?
wow. thank you so much for making this video. I resonate so much with your story
I too was absolutely traumatized by my endowment experience and would love to see you do a video on your experience!
I have a friend who was very traumatized by the endowment ceremony many decades ago. 😳
I have never liked the culture!!!!!!!!!!!!
You never had what it takes to be a Mormon. Be traumatized outside of the church, please.
@@johnlee1352 LOL, interesting that you know nothing about me and yet can make such a sweeping judgement. It would be interesting to compare our Mormon credentials and see if you stack up. Make sure you never use the internet again or crack open a science textbook. That can quickly turn you into someone who 'never had what it took' to stay Mormon.
@@brookelyn4828 "sweeping judgment"...not sweeping at all. It was based on your own words and conduct. If you can't even stand by what you say and do, it's worse than I thought. Thanks for leaving so we didn't have to throw you out.
Hi @Brookelyn as a nevermo what’s the endowment ceremony. I wish you all the best in your journey and never mind the judgemental trolls girl!!! 🤗🧡
I absolutely love this! Especially that you own the pain the church caused you as legitimate trauma. So many active members will try to write off any pain an ex-member experiences as merely being "offended" but the church DOES cause legitimate traumas in so many of its members. And I 1000000% agree with your experience of life being so much better post Mormonism. God is NOT a straight white man in my experience. Keep living your best life, and thank you for sharing!
Oh boo hoo
Thank you so much for sharing your story! I left the church myself. It was really hard at first, but I’ve never regretted it. It was definitely the right choice.
sending allllll the love your way. i identify with so much of this. in 2020 i left the church i grew up in. i had been questioning doctrines and inconsistencies for years, but finally found a way where i was able to leave and start finding myself and who i am again. so proud of you, this isn’t an easy thing. it’s so hard but you’re so worth it. ♥️
You're so brave. You deserve all the love and all the right people to be around you.
This is all very relatable and I'm really glad that you shared your story. I think it makes post-mormons feel better to realize that we aren't crazy, that our experiences are pretty universal and that a lot of us were struggling with these issues but felt pressured to keep it locked away in our minds. Since we couldn't even admit our pain and doubt to ourselves, we couldn't work through it with others or bond through our shared pain. It's nice to see that that has changed for the people who leave.
The whole part about your prom pictures is so so sad... I'm so sorry that that happened to you. Thank you for sharing 💙
I never saw God as a white male, I just saw him as a creator or as a father which I still do. He is a feeling to me and I trust him with my life. I left the mormon church in 2021 and I'm glad I left I'm so much more happier. All I focus on now is God and Jesus Christ♡
Not the temple, not the church, not the doctrine, not the temple recommend or "the work "
I love God and Jesus christ and they're all I need 🙏 ❤
Wish you the best in your journey
I grew up in the church. Went on a mission and did all that. About two years ago I came to known the true Christ which is different than that of Mormonism. I had to make a choice. I chose Christ. He has freed me since and it’s Great. The Mormon reprogramming takes time. Stay with the truth, the Bible.
Thanks for leaving...
Thanks for leaving on your own so we didn't have to throw you out. Your weakness and confusion will not be missed.
wow, you are amazing!!! you are so self connected and self empowered. you should be really proud of yourself for taking the time to reflect and change!
I too felt like an outsider in my ward because of my family not being all Mormon. I also would wear shorts and show my shoulders and definitely felt judged. I also had an eating disorder. I relate to you so much, thanks for sharing. I’ll probably share my story on here some day!
Thank you thank you thank you! You articulated all of those feelings so well and I connected with everything you said. I also felt so liberated and yet, like you said, it has been equally as heartbreaking. Thank you for sharing- hearing these experiences from someone else brought a new level of validation. Xx
Thank you for this, gurl! You expressed these feelings better than I ever could have articulated for myself.
The same with me.
Thank you for sharing. It was hard for me too, so thank you for sharing this.
What a year to transition out of the church! We obviously haven't met, but I'm proud of you! I left in 2015 and that loneliness is really a tough period. You have a really solid community here, should you ever need it. Forgetting any residual shame and guilty in or outside of the church, you are amazing and you matter.
Thanks for leaving on your own so we didn't have to throw you out. Your weakness and confusion will not be missed.
@@johnlee1352 Please stop being hurtful
Girl, I feel your struggle. As an ex-mormon, being Mexican and convert I felt like I was only accepted because of how active I was but not pretty, educated, or talented enough. I can go on about a lot but I am just grateful I saw through the bs even though I was in the church for 12 yrs, it definitely gave me PTSD from having to DE-program my believe system after leaving. Thank you for putting your story out there. I am 8+ years out of the LDS cult and thanks to them it has been much easier to see through others BS and not let myself be manipulated! keep doing you because in the end you have to live with yourself everyday, choose freedom ;)
Thanks for leaving on your own so we didn't have to throw you out. Your weakness and confusion will not be missed.
@@johnlee1352 Now how exactly do you Mormons claim to be Christians if you hate the whole entire world?
took the words right out of my mouth. let’s be friends!
You are NOT a second tier person. You are totally top tier, all the way! You’re brave, smart & talented, and it’s so so great that you “woke up” early in life.
You are definitely not alone. Many many leaving the mormon church
According to US News and World Report, the Mormon church is the only major faith group in the US to experience any growth in the last decade. Just the weak and confused are leaving...yay!
@@johnlee1352 because the church does not take into account those that leave but not take their names off (me and my family, and many friends) It is growth by manipulated numbers is all
Thank you for sharing your story! It’s not an easy thing to do when you’re leave the church. It takes a whole lot of courage and bravery so kudos to you! 👏😊💖 I am so glad you are your happiest! There are always struggles even many years after leaving. I left 20 years ago and I’m still trying to deprogram myself but stories like yours always help me and are so uplifting!
It has been so hard for me too. Thanks for sharing.
This is the most interesting video I’ve watched, thank you! I was obsessed with the religion and mostly the aesthetic and happiness portrayed online by so many members of the church. I followed you and saw the stickers you made of the Prophet and other related things. I’m so interested in hearing your opinions, soooo many of which I agree with.
I’m still exploring the religion but these videos are so insightful.
Hello! I went inactive because I found the leaders to be dishonest, hypocritical, arrogant, discriminatory, racist, judgmental and homophobic. I went inactive because I found myself developing these traits! Did we discuss what Jesus said? No, we discussed talks given at general conference. I was a convert to the church and I missed Jesus! It’s still taking me a while to de-program.
So you unrighteously judged all those leaders and called them the usual woke names...the truth is, you went inactive because you are weak and confused...no testimony, no commitment, no loyalty, etc.. Just a poser looking for the first convenient off-ramp. Why do you think you need accolades and attaboys from the haters here? You've left...now leave it alone. Or is that your payoff?
All under 21 investigators should watch this video.
Excellent window into young persons experience in the "saints"
So happy to to see this, I hope you upload more soon
I too left the mormon church. I am 70 now and left 50 years ago. I joined the Marines when I was 18 and was exposed to many religions for the 8 years I was in the service. After being exposed to the truth for a few years I am a Baptist now and I am finally learning about Christ and have been born again. It was tough because the whole family was Mormon and I was disowned by them. I now live in a very small town in Southeastern Utah surrounded by Mormons who try to keep working on me but with no success. Once you really know Christ and are born again and receive the holy spirit you can not go back again. Thank you for your message as I now know I am not the only one going through this experience
5 decades later and here you are. How pathetic and weak that after that long you still feel the need to denigrate your former faith. Seems you still have unfinished business with the Mormons. Thanks for leaving all those years ago...we would probably have eventually thrown you out, but thank you.
@@johnlee1352 I came to understand the real truth about about the LDS. It is a business designed to make money. They financed the City Creek center from "church" funds while at the same time hording over 3 billion dollars. It is designed as a cult not a Christian church. How many wives did Joseph have particularly those who were married to other men? Why is the book of mormon being changed concerning native americans once DNA evidence proved that no Jewish ancestry was in them? If you want the truth read the bible as I did not myths.

I was surprised when you shared what your Bishop did . That was so wrong of him . I’m sorry that happened. You really are a sweet girl.
Dear Jill, As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints, I am sorry to hear that you had to go through these many things in the church and be treated less than what you deserve. I bet they didn't realize the impact they would have on you and I know the feeling must have been extremely hurtful for you. I hope you had had met better examples and not the less perfect ones. I hope you will find the healing you need. God loves you for who you are, rather you are a member or not. His love is infinite for you.
this is such a sweet comment :)
I think they take the word of wisdom over the top. Soda is full of chemicals that are bad for you yet it's ok to drink it by the gallons but they can't drink coffee? Coffee doesn't have a bunch of chemicals in it. It also states that they are to eat meet sparingly mormons are some of the biggest meet eaters I know.
Jesus Christ was actually a person of color, like all Middle Easterners before some of them got mixed. His coloring was a lot like yours.
You did the right thing. I am 86 years old inactive member. Do not feel guilt. I feel the church should be more transparent with it's history. More are leaving the church because the truth is out of the bag. Religion is personal and God couldn't care if you were a member of 16 million member church. 4 million active and live in a bubble. God is more concern if you are a good person and not if you belong to certain faith.
Jesus definitely wasn’t like a renaissance painting!!!!!!!!!!
*The flesh was a man but the spirit in Him was God. God is a spirit and therefore has no color or gender.*
If you were introduced to a blind member I bet they would have accepted you with open arms because of your typical American accent.
The same thing happens in Australia towards new members. I am a caucasian heterosexual Aussie man who has an ethnic surname but most members treated me like I had the plague. They were also stuck up and had a sanctimonious attitude. The members had an Us and Them mentality too.
It was difficult for me because I was a single adult man who had no idea about the American cultire in the Mormon Church. In Australia, there is a different culture because of our hot, humid weather, and laid-back lifestyle. I had an easygoing manner but I was always anxious and wary going to church on Sundays. Besides, I am an introvert and I don't like talking in public yet I usually got along with ordinary people in society.
aww poor thing they should ave treated you better. :(
Ex-christian here. I'm glad you shared your experiences, it's truly brave and amazing. I personally left because I saw the roots of corruption and injustice that no one in the church addressed. As a woman in the church as well I wasn't allowed to do anything, I looked after younger kids and served food, I didn't get to go fishing or go on adventures or even share the word with anyone because it "wasn't my place." Even learning wasn't pushed. They didn't want us to think for ourselves but rather be beautiful and silent. I left and graduated top of my class as one of the most successful students my school has seen. I also have never seen God as a man, because I'll be honest, all I've seen from men is death and destruction, especially in the church there is so much toxic masculinity. I also had some horrible experiences with elder men grooming me. I see God as a feeling as a being of pure love and if I were to assign them a gender they would probably be a woman because I see those traits in women more. I am so happy I left, and I am moving forward. Thank you for sharing!!
Oh, the virtue signaling is palpable. So woke. She even threw in the buzzword of "toxic masculinity" to demonstrate her bona fides. If only we were all as enlightened as Abbi. After all, she was the one who saw the "roots of corruption and injustice" that nobody else addressed. What a special person! And a victim to boot! If you don't believe it...just ask her! If only she would cut back on the meds...yikes

Got denied from BYU Idaho and eventually just stopped going to church. im much happier now and I hope you are too! ❤️ Ive also told my story of leaving the church on both my channels 😁
Sounds similar to me when at age 20 I joined a Southern Baptist church. As a nonwhite also (I'm Mexican) I was a non-starter as a none white person in a mostly white membership. (I was so very naive to think race does not matter as Christians? ) These white Baptist love to go to Mexico to do a "mission" and post on social media, pictures of them wrapping their arms around a "brown" skin person. But these white Christians don't want to sit next to a Mexican in the same pew back home ?
You should study Catholicism .Many Baptist Pastors ,some of them were virulently anti Catholic have now converted to Catholicism . Just recently 4 staunch anti Catholic Baptists for Texas did an intensive BIBLE STUDY for a very long time . All of them converted to Catholicism ,with one of them entering the Priesthood. Then , few yrs back ,a group of Born Again Christian Seminarians, from South Carolina left their seminary to enter the Catholic church . I travel globally and just came back from Greece last month .I attended Mass in Athens .The worshippers were from all races ,Asians,Caucasians,Blacks to name a few ,which is typical of Catholic worship service .There are tons of video testimonies at chnetwork.org ,including from former anti Catholic BIBLE SCHOLARS,hundreds of Pastors ,Christian Historians ,Intellectuals ,Theologians et al . this is like excactly how i feel... except i stopped believing that shit when i was 13. im only 14 now and my parents force me to go to church they dont allow me to stay home they always invite the missionaries over to help me but obviously it dosent work. i find new shit wrong with christianity everyday. i have so much religious trauma. during the pandemic we couldn't go to church so i used this time to heal and then we were allowed to go back again and the second i got there i ran to the bathroom and had a panic attack. it was so hard going back because i was trying to go theougg the healing process but then i was forced back into that hell again. the first times back were terrible and i was forced to go to class. now i kinda just sit in the foier(idk how to spell it), the stage, the mothers room, or the bathroom during class. and during the sacramwnt i always refuse the bread and water. my parents are always pissed at me. oh and guess what my family had the missionaries over for dinner of jan 2nd and apparently i asked too many offensive questions. MY BROTHER INVITED THE WOMEN MISSIONARIES FROM THW YSA(young single adult) WARD TO TALK TO ME!!!! 😡😡😡😡so now on wednesday they're gonna be at my house right after i already am gonna have an exhausting day at school just so they can drain me some more. i just want this hell to end. i just want my mom to accept that just because i made a promise to god when i was a freaking 8 year old dosent mean i am going to keep that promise forver or wven believe in god forever. i totally agree with the mindset part. i didn't view people as people. i was a terrible person. i was judgemental, homophobic, transphobic, and overall just rude and didn't even tey to understand peoples circumstances. i had a spiritual awakening in november 2020. it changed my whole life for the better. im a much better person and ive improved so much. i am so goddamn proud of myself. i drink coffe behind my parents back as a treat sometimes. AND GUESS WHAT! i dont feel guilt i feel amazing doing it. because going through my awakening and finding out i was gay made me resent god. and i resented all the people too. people going out of their way to tell u to stop sitting on the counter. well ok old lady i dont care im gonna keep sitting on the vounter on my phone watching jack septiceye(idk how to spell it) pkay doki doki literature club during church. 😡(fun fact i gave her the dirtiest look i could and she went out of her way to look up my name in adress in thw church records and brought me cookies later that day to apologize 🧍♀️ngl i felt rlly bad after) anyways if you actually read then thankyou. thats personally my experience with the church.

6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
1. Anyone for whom Christ gave himself “a correspondent Ransom” will be ransomed (from death&hades, see Hosea 13:14) as a result.
2. Anyone ransomed as a result of Christ’s death will be saved.
3. The “all” for whom we’re told Christ gave himself a ransom in 1 Timothy 2:6 will be saved.
4. The “all” for whom we’re told Christ gave himself a ransom includes all mankind (1 Tim. 2:4-5).
5. All mankind will be saved

Wow, I am so sorry that happened to you. That bishop was way out of line. We culturally checked out first too then left after studying the history of the church
There is a tv program called The Old Path, you can listen to the teachings based on the bible (you can easily tell).
basically, people ask questions and the church leader answers them based on the bible, he even challenges them to check/confim to their bible.
they have a youtube channel.
The Old Path
mormonism is often criticized by the old path because mormonism have another book which is supposedly "better" than the bible.
Daddy Bishop is watching you at all times. Even when a person is 40 years old, they still have a strict daddy (bishop) . The LDS church should be renamed the church of eternal families of latter days saints. The main focus of LDS is family. Not the the Lord Jesus. Jesus and his apostles and the prophets did not teach 95% of what is taught in the Mormon church. The focus is not on the Lord what he did for us in his grace. I'm glad you figured it out. The scales did not come off of my eyes until I got into my fifties. I didn't lose my faith, simply gain the truth. So strange as I look back but I actually believed all of that nonsense and it's okay to have Daddy Bishop watching my every move.
The main focus of the LDS Church is worshipping ITSELF as as institution… Glorifying its history and its leaders… Jesus is just the window dressing
*I've recently met with 3 mormon chicks and we had an hour long discussion about our respective beliefs. They were really nice even if very uneducated on Biblical texts. I'm meeting with them again soon.*
The main thing to me is to let them be aware of some facts that I'm sure they don't know anything about but they deserve to know.
1. The fact that Joseph Smith and all of the current leaders of the church in the hierarchy, I'm not talking about bishops and stake presidents. The general authorities of today going all the way back to Joseph Smith claim that Joseph Smith translated The book of Mormon by placing an egg-shaped Stone into a hat and then placed his face into the hat, allowing no light and then each letter or word would appear on the stone and then he would relay the words or sentences that he saw on the stone to a scribe. The church claims this is how the book of Mormon written was written which essentially means the plates were not even used. Of course there were no plates. You can Google search and show her pictures of the Stone.
This was basically hidden by the general authorities of the church for the most part.
2. Share the fact that Joseph Smith head over 30 wives and a half a dozen of them were already married to other men whom he had sent out to do missionary work thus leaving the wife alone and then marrying them. He also married at least one14 year old. This was also hidden by all of the general authorities in the church from the time of Joseph Smith until the present day.
3. The fact that Mormon temple rituals and ceremonies were simply taken by and large from the Masons. Joseph Smith became a mason was the time that he introduced the temple ceremonies and rituals and clothing which were and the handshakes which were identical to the Mason ceremonies rituals and handshakes and clothing.
4. Mormons believe that it's possible to not be worthy to enter the temple as a believer let's just say in January and then by April or May you can be deemed Worthy to enter a temple as a believer. The fact is that you can't be not worthy in January and then be worthy in April. Christ either paid for your sins or he didn't pay for them. You are worthy or you are not worthy based on whether you believe in the merits of Christ. If Christ paid for your sins then you are worthy in January and it cannot be any more worthy in April.
5. Along the same lines when I was a Mormon missionary back in the 80s, I remember I was not able to baptize somebody that was interested in joining because he smoked cigarettes. At the time I didn't think closely enough about it. So the guy basically cannot enter into a covenant with the Lord Jesus Christ because he smokes cigarettes? He cannot make a covenant to the Lord Jesus Christ because he smokes cigarettes. I repeated that twice. The Lord God does not worry about cigarettes. Is only interested in the heart.
6. That repeats itself over and over within the book of Mormon which is a folly, is that when God blesses us, you basically only blesses us with riches. Is it fine clothing and jewelry and gold and silver etc. All the richest became slippery and lost them all. This is absolutely the worst folly or the worst false teachings in that book even though it's not what it's claimed to be. God does not bless in that manner exclusively. This is why Mormons all compete with each other. They want to be wearing the nicest clothing they want to be in the biggest house. Certain families in the world that happened to be more wealthy than the rest are looked up upon as if they are more spiritual than everyone else. They assume because they are richer than the rest that they are there for more blessed than the rest. This is absolutely false teaching and a tremendous folly in the book of Mormon.
7. When Joseph Smith was shot and killed, most members do not know the fact is that Joseph Smith was carrying a pistol which was loaded and Joseph Smith took the first shot before losing his life to the mob. He is portrayed as this innocent man going as a sheep to the slaughter. The fact is he had married many of other men's wives and people are not going to put up with that. Even if the man is on a mission he still has brothers sisters cousins uncles to witness these things. He had also divulged all of the secrets from the Mason Temple and installed them into his new Mormon temple rituals and death is the penalty of that.
I was raised Mormon and served a Mormon mission from 85 to 87 and was married in the Los Angeles Temple in 1990. The church sets his focus on the temple. Get to the temple get to the temple get to the temple. When it's focus should be on what the Lord Christ did for us. You can go on TH-cam and look at some video that was taken of the Mormon Temple rituals. The Lord Jesus Christ nor is apostles talk to any such rituals.
8. The Lord did not hang on the cross and then yell out that his work is almost done. He never said my work is almost done but there will be another guy named Joe Smith in a couple of thousand years from now that will come along and complete my work. No such words were uttered. The LDS church is not but it claims to be. It's member have been lied to and misled for all of these years. I have nothing against the Mormon church. I grew up LDS and I loved it. It's part of my heritage. I have one son that is very active in the LDS Church. Most of my friends are active LDS church members and have kids that have served two year missions, nevertheless this does not change the fact that church it's not at all what claims to be. You can share these things with love in your heart because LDS people need to know
They were just jealous of your beautiful skin tone. Jealousy is one of the main places that meaness comes from.
Thanks for sharing
The Church is Perfect. Only the members are not. It may be hard but I cannot let other people destroy my faith in Christ 👻
I greatly appreciate your bravery and strength. I am sure this was tough to make. However, you have mistaken the doctrine. At 4:40 you list 3 things you must do to reach the highest degree of glory in the Celestial Kingdom. The first 2 are correct, but the 3rd one is not correct. (1) You need to baptized. (2) You need to be sealed to your spouse. (3) You do NOT need to be sealed to your father (or any parent). Your fathers salvation is not tied to yours at all. Again, thank you for sharing your story.
You're not brave or strong. Thanks for leaving and for taking your weakness and confusion out from among us.
@@johnlee1352 I am not sure if you are saying I am not brave and strong, or Jill is not brave and strong. Your comment confused me. I assume you mean Jill. I think she is brave to open herself up like this. Clearly she is young, lost and uninformed about her own (previous) religion. But she is young and learning. She was obviously taught things incorrectly, I don't fault her for that.
@@johnlee1352 you speak as if you are superior , perhaps you are the weak and confused one that was offended because another soul disagrees with your beliefs?
@@johnlee1352 The girl who made this video is very brave and strong. She hit all the marks that I have concerning Mormonism, and I am a Mormon. I have experienced the same things she had went through, even with my Bishop. Congratulations to her for speaking the truth!
@@harrisonlapahie3483 You need to get out of the church. Your weakness and confusion matches hers...hit your "marks" outside the fold. Thank you for leaving...wow
Great chat; good for you. Religions are like a cage; I "was" a mormon but didn't last too long.
(The worst memory I have have to do with jokes made by "Elders" about black people).
Oh yes. You can’t pick and choose which commandments to follow, we’ll do that for you. Like the word of wisdom, only parts of that are important 😂
Coffee isn’t drugs people! And the all or nothing mindset leads you out of the church when you open your eyes and look because there are so many lies and coverups and you were taught to value truth.
Thanks for leaving and for taking your weakness and confusion out from among us.
I love your power. You are so beautiful to me, you always have been.
I hope you’re doing okay these days. Be well!
Remember that band from the 1990's called The Presidents of the United States of America? Instead of "I'm moving to the country, I'm gonna eat a lot of peaches" How about this? "I'm moving out of Utah, don't agree with what the Book of Mormon teaches"
Instead of being a "woman of color," why don't you think of yourself simply as a "woman?"
💜💜
I was raised catholic, and I baptized almost 3 years ago. I guess because of that I have an open mind and some of the things that the church says doesn't make sense to me... I'm trying to center my life on Jesus and what he did more than what the church says is real or not. I like the gospel, but I don't like the culture or the things man says are right, I do it on my own knowledge of what's and what's not good. I don't know if that makes senses, but yeah...
Makes perfect sense! Welcome dude get ready for a wild ride and dont put things on ur shelf put it on the rock of reedeeming love!
Jill...you seem to be getting a lot of attention in describing your quest to find your authentic self. I hope you are actually able to leave the Church behind and begin a new life without it and not continually revisiting your life in the Church. If separating yourself from the Lord's Spirit and the membership in the Church is not good for you, then you should now feel less lonely, more safe and should be able to stop returning to your story about leaving the Church. Leaving the Church should being you joy and happiness....not a need to continue to revisit the trauma/negativity etc you felt as a member of the Church. If you can't find the joy and happiness away from the Church without constant revisiting your experience, perhaps you made the wrong choice.
You’re gorgeous! Wish you all the best for the future
Never met any Mormons in real life but I LOVE your exmo story. I wish you all the best and consider me subscribed. 🤗
We keep getting visits from Mormons my family got mad cause i shut the door in their faces i didn't know what to do
I understand. I feel like doing the same, but I haven't yet.
The amount of shaming I experienced in Mormonism is crazy but to hear your experience about that Bishop's tactics, it's absolutely heartwrenching. How is anyone supposed to trust an "authority" figure in the LDS Church if they just go and talk about your issues publicly? I didn't experience shaming to the level that you have (close but not quite), so I can't actually imagine what it feels like to you specifically. But like I said, still breaks my heart to hear that it happens. It's not just a "Mormon" problem. I've heard things about other people in other churches also, but not to the extent I've seen and heard about in the LDS Church. The Mormon doctrine and high-demand religious practices are the driving force of their culture. I was a practicing Mormon for 37 years, and even though I've been out now for 5 years, I still have a lot of emotional work to process through.
Thank you. Good for you for leaving.
"Jesus Chrsit Message to All Nations" (FLDS D&C) Revelation 3:14-16
“For that branch called the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, known by the world, has become corrupt, and broke away from my Priesthood authority, and they rejected my Celestial Law of Marriage, and I, the Lord, have rejected them. And they shall be brought low, and feel the chastening hand of God for all their abominations against the laws of God. And I say unto this people of this nation, repent ye, repent ye, for my judgments are already upon you, and will soon be poured out without measure, beginning at the house of God; those who have professed to know my name, and have blasphemed against me, and changed the law and ordinances of my Gospel, and submitted to the ways and persuasions of men.”
As an expo myself, welcome!
Ex mo, I freakin hate spellcheck sometimes. Welcome anyway
Just letting you know not everyone believes in God so you can't see it as a reality hate and believes are two different thing
At church they should have a guy get up there like a weather man forecasting sessions of judgement.
Huge respect for anyone who has left any sort of a religious community, these communities and institutions usually do everything to make you feel horrible for doing that
How does the church make the get your own planet when your a man. God doesn't work like that and if he does then why would that be a wonderful place to end up?
Joseph Smith had to get creative coming up with these crazy ideas as a way of differentiating HIS product from the competition (other Churches)
The laity priesthood, the temple ordinances, the sealings, the plural marriages early on, the whole Mormon cosmology, the Adam-God doctrine, etc… All were carefully created to entice people to join and make them feel like they were joining this truly unique and special organization. Something that those other churches don’t have 🤨
Hello Jill. I just wanted to drop a line because it kind of caught my attention on how an experience with a ‘man’ lead you away from your relationship with the Lord.. I personally don’t go to church but I pray and read the scripture on my own everyday. I hope that you stay in faith no matter where you are. The mormon church is irrelevant. Don’t let a ‘man’ lead you astray from our Lord. He wants an intimate relationship with you not for you to force yourself to be in the mormon church. God bless.
FYI to all people. Jesus was Jewish. Aka middle eastern. Not white. I hate those white depictions too
What happen if black person in church

God is for you and wants you to live the fullest and happiest life you can. Thanks for your video you made several great explanations as to why the church is so damaging. At the end of the day we all leave because the church is false. And has been proven by facts and history. Lead the life that makes you happy. I hope you heal completely and become the best version of yourself. Thanks again.
Well done. An excellent video.
my take away: so you thought something was wrong, but you lied to yourself and pretended nothing was wrong.
i hope that's what you're saying because that's the way i was and i can really relate.
and i think everyone else in mormonism must feel the same things.
but not everyone quits. now there's a mystery. everyone has to lie to themselves to stay in mormonism, but not everyone leaves.
and what does that say about you? you want to be a real person? what is a real person? a real person feels their own real feelings and acts like a real person with real feelings.
so what are our real feelings? you mention sex. you have real feelings and desire to have sex. you also have real feelings that come out after, that you never thought about. i did. i still think about my first girlfriend of 60 years ago. is that possible? is that what you want from a sexual experience? it's not what i wanted. i want to be with my first time love forever and ever and ever and not share her with anyone. but that's not what i had in life at all.
so what are real feelings and what is being a real person and what's wrong with mormons that they don't want to be real?
imho to be a mormon you have to constantly pretend to be something you're not and pretend to believe something that's impossible to believe.
for example, the book of abraham. or for example pretend the book of mormon contains any distinctive mormon teachings at all.
anyway, i am listening, but i don't even know if i'm hearing anything you're saying or if i'm just recalling things in my own life.
I don't really get what you are trying to say. I get a lot from what this girl had said. I understand.
🤟
Let's get sealed in the san diego temple, bay bay
I left the Mormon Church and started attending the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, it's way better
🤔
perfectly said - it may be disillusioning to realize it’s necessary to know the difference, but then again it’s likely a sign of spiritual maturity and at some point, yes, it is necessary to live the distinction...
Same here
The "Mormon Church" and "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" are the same. The same with the "LDS Church". It was just recently that Russell M. Nelson said that it is now more proper to say "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" then to call ourselves Mormons, or "The Mormon Church". Mormons had called themselves "The Mormon Church" before, but now call themselves "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints". But it's still the same Church.
hell ,there is gnashing of teeth. I can't create my own heaven.and you don't want to see hell by not receiving Jesus in your heart.
People don't believe in Joseph Smith for one of only 3 reasons: 1. They learned most of what they "know" about him from his enemies and not from the Holy Ghost (see John 14:26); or 2. They committed some sin that drove away the Holy Ghost; or 3. They never learned anything about Joseph Smith at all and don't want to. If you've read the Old Testament then you know that to reject one of God's prophets is to reject God Himself. Read about what God did to the people of ancient Israel who rejected Moses! Joseph Smith is a true prophet of God. I know that because I have been taught by the Holy Ghost and you can be taught the same way. I love you all and will pray for you.
