    It's very useful that you mention both the brush types and colors, as well as the medium, in your step-wise process. Cheers.

    I am a beginner and started painting about a year ago and I truly understand your process and method or procedure, when you talk about beginning a painting by blocking in and laying down a foundation and then being very aware of warm up against cold colors, light up against dark, the importance of color and tones and at last round it all up with details... all of this will bring life, dynamic or drama and 3d to your paintings or drawings.
    I love all medias from Acrylic, oil, pastels, graphite, watercolor and colored pencils...and I think that this way of awareness helps you no matter what medium you use, and especially if you like to paint realism. so it is not only when you paint birds but anything you wish to portray in a realistic way. Your two portraits are exceptionally beautiful and I appreciate your talent to balance color and tones, not all people are gifted like that. Thank you...

    You are so talented you make me weep with awe. I will never be as good as you but your talent inspires me to try and strive for a level of quality that you show really is possible. Thanks for sharing your talents through youtube and inspiring a wannabe painter who hasn't painted since leaving art school over 30 yrs ago:)

    I love your teaching methods every bit as much as I love your paintings & techniques, Andrew ! I would like to see you work on feathers that are more like those I work on, however. These birds have more of a hairy type of feathering & I'd really like to see you do a sequel - please - doing an Owl, or a Hawk, or an Eagle of some sort, close up ! I specialize in Raptors, so that's my personal focus & main concern.
    BTW - I'm now feeling much better about my Artistic direction & am getting some new work going ! I'm finding it's really helping me feel better emotionally & psychologically ! Not doing my Art generates a Black hole for me & I know it ! Thanks for your guidance , friendship & encouragement ! I've thought long & hard about your comment to go into Oils. I've decided I can accomplish much the same results using Acrylics & glazing mediums & not worry about having to become a chemist, as well as an Artist ! While I like what can be accomplished in Oils, I remember the works I did in college getting moldy & damaged in short time. I don't want that to happen again because I don't understand the chemistry involved - ie : " Fat over lean" etc. ! I prefer to be more spontaneous, which is why I went to Pastels in the 1st place. More recently, I've expanded to Graphite pencil - specifically & especially on Mellotex, then Colored Pencil - again on the amazing Mellotex ( Especially because I won my 1st award with it & that was a State level BEST OF SHOW ! ) & colored Pencil over Watercolor - enjoying the loose flow qualities of the Watercolor & then the tight detail I get with the Colored Pencil ! I also have Acrylics & firmly believe the same results can be accomplished in them, as I'd be able to attain in Oils. I'd love to hear your comments on this if they differ !
    Recently, I've decided to try my hand @ Scratchboard & I'm happy with how that is going so far. I'm stARTing with black & white , but plan to advance to adding Airbrush in the near future. As you can see, I'm already spread pretty thin in the media depARTment ! LOL !

    Thank you for hammering the importance of blocking-in into my head Andrew. It's so hard to stare at ugly blocks of color in the beginning stages, I just want it to look pretty from the get go! But it really saves time and energy later to get those colors down.

    This is probably the most worthwhile art channel in all of youtube. Please, continue to share your talents. If I may request, can you do one on techniques used in classical realism? I see the technique here somewhat delivering a similar ethereal glow you see in Carravagisi painters' work.

    • @AndrewTischlerArt
      @AndrewTischlerArt  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks!
      Classical realism? Sure thing. one thing am playing with at the moment is deconstructing the techniques of my heroes so I can replicate them... I hope to incorporate this into more free content as well as tutorials.

    • @janmichaelj
      @janmichaelj 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be amazing. There's not a lot of content that goes through the techniques via a demo. Your content format is by far the best. One that talks through techniques quite well on the topic of classical realism is Ceasar Santos.

    Thank you for the insight sir. Your precision is well skilled by presenting how our brain can see the pattern by sparing the amount of detailed present in the wing. Kind of like less makes more. How do you feel about hobby artists using reference photos that are not always detailed to a professional level? I.E. they are printing a stock photo from a home printer.

      How did you survive all that time without painting, Bruce ???? OMG ! I'd be dangerous to myself & everyone around me if I did that ! I'd sleep on the COUCH & use the bedroom as my Studio before I'd pack it all away ! I have much of my stuff in Storage because I didn't have room to bring it with me from Northern Minnesota to central Ohio this past spring. I've just bought a new drawing table & jammed it into a corner of my living room just to gain my sanity ! I'm horribly depressed & miserable if & when I can't draw & paint ! Granted, I live alone, but it wouldn't matter ! Anyone who loves me, knows this about me & would encourage it . ..if nothing more than for their own sanity ! LOL ! Make your work a priority ! You won't regret it !
