    Thanks Joseph, amazing looking painting. I have just started painting last week and followed your video as a tutorial. Very clear steps and well explained. Way into the night I finished and absolutely loved the result! Had no idea I could do this! Let me know if you want to see my try and will send it over! Thanks again!

    What a beautiful bird, Joseph. I enjoyed the ugliness being transformed. It struck me that, especially on the body, how brush strokes for feathers are not that different to those for fur. Just needs the obvious context. Thankyou for your generosity in showing your process.

    • @JosephKoensgen
      @JosephKoensgen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are really great birds! And yes, there are some very strong similarities of the brush strokes for fur and feathers. It's nearly the same but the fur will have a more flowing quality to it, with deeper shadows between the hairs. Happy to share and I'm glad you enjoyed this one!

      @@JosephKoensgen Cheers Joseph - our kingfishers are a tad more colourful (if one is quick enough to see it! ) - but I like the one you've depicted.

      Yes! The turquoise and orange of the Eurasian Kingfisher is definitely more vibrant than our Belted Kingfisher in Canada. Hopefully one day I have the chance to travel there to see one and do a painting of it!

    Hello Joseph. I just finished a watercolour painting of 7 different types of Kingfishes and this Belted Kingfisher was one in my painting. It was great to see how you painted it in acrylics. I do love how you capture all the realism in your paintings. You are an amazing teacher, so soothing to listen to and so easy to understand. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.

      Thank you so much!! That is so kind of you to say! And that sounds like a wonderful watercolour piece with all those kingfishers. I'm happy to share and try to provide as much information on what I'm doing and how I'm painting everything. Appreciate you watching!

I have watched all your videos multiple times though I do love the snow owl film where you went out to try and find them. You are a fantastic teacher. Oh wow, thank you so much!! That means a lot and I am humbled to hear that. I certainly hope that my work and videos can continue to inspire. And I really appreciate that you love the snowy owl film. I'm currently working on another one like that, but for a Great Grey owl. It will still be a while before that one is ready, as these things take way longer to put together than my tutorials, but I'm hoping in the next 3-4 months it will be ready.

    Hi Joseph. Just wondering what you are painting on? Is that some kind of hard surface art board?

    • @JosephKoensgen
      @JosephKoensgen  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, I'm painting on board - a 1/4 inch hardboard sometimes called masonite that I prime with gesso and sand smooth. I really like that surface for painting the fines details I do. I'm hoping to make a video towards the end of the year that shows how I prepare these boards for my paintings!

    I've watched this video several times and pick up more tips every time. I love this style. Do you plan on starting a Patreon page or sell tutorials? I will be first in line if you do. I would like to learn more about painting with acrylics. Looking forward to your next painting video.

      Thank you!! I'm glad that my videos have been helpful! I don't have plans to do a Patreon as I don't have much time right now outside of creating paintings to be able to do one properly. But I am planning on creating more videos like this for my channel, and I hope to slowly cover a range of different subjects when I'm able to film them. Plus the odd vlog style video of my experiences with wildlife in nature. Appreciate you watching!!

      Thank you!! The brushes in this video are mainly a Round 1, and Round 2, where the bristles come to really fine point at the end. In upcoming videos I can show the brushes I use at different stages. I have a recent video about painting an aspen if you like to see that type of bark! And in time I hope to cover a range of different textures that I paint - different tree barks, rocks, snow, grasses etc.

      Can you also make a general video giving tips on painting wildlife , birds, animals, furs, feathers etc - how to approach painting such subjects.
      Also, can you please link the image you are painting, so we can print it and use it to do the same ?
      Thank you so much ! I am asking a lot, I know 🙂 but truly grateful for all the knowledge you are sharing 🙏🙏🙏❤️

      No problem, happy to answer questions and help where I can! I have been thinking about a general tips and info video about painting animals. But just need to figure out what to say and some good generalized info that would be most helpful. It may be a while as I already have 4-5 videos lined up that I'm currently working on, but I can certainly work on putting something like that together!
      I can link to the final painted image on my Facebook to work from. Should have enough resolution for the details!

    What do you mean by dry brushing?

    • @JosephKoensgen
      @JosephKoensgen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dry brushing is where you use paint that doesn't have much moisture or fluid in it, where the paint will come off the brush in a thin layer. It's sometimes called scumbling. This can be useful for acrylics when putting down glazes or blending colours and creating a gradient. It definitely takes some practice, but is a good technique to know.

    i was disappointed in the "VINNA", paint brushes. I am VERY CAREFUL IN MY USE , and to clean my brushes, never leaving sit in water, or let paint start to dry on the brush while painting too long. I store upright.in a container for brushes. BUT tips started to fray far too quickly, and I paid quite a bit.. It is possible where the brushes were stored before on sale to purchase in a store.. I did a pair of kind fishers I seen at a the park I use to go to , before the park planted all those wild plants, and then added the poison to kill the Ash Emerald. THEY warned people not to touch. NO BIRDS did I See this year. All where the TRILLIUM , lady's slippers, and others wild plants I did not see this 2023
