In this tutorial I take you through the FULL PROCESS showing you just about every stage, through to completion. Working with live birds and collecting reference and HD video certainly helps. I wanted this Eagle to be sitting on a branch with sky behind, so I took it through a DESIGN process with this in mind. The final result is a little more painterly than my usual work; it will hopefully give you a few expressive techniques to refer to and try in the studio. ENJOY!

Would love to see the full version on dvd! :D
I'd love the full tutorial and it would be an honor to support your work!
Yessssss!!!
Count me in! Linda UK
Yes please
Last year I drove from Uluru to Melbourne and was lucky enough to see about 9 of these magnificent raptors along the way.
as an animal artist, I highly appreciate the work of Andrew Tishler. His drawing, the ability to find the position of the bird, which is visible in its character, possession of color and brush - is the work of a talented artist. I wish you success and further development of the master.
For me your lighting is what makes it - your talent to make the paintings almost 3D is amazing.
This was amazing! I’m just starting a painting of a bald eagle that landed on a tree in our back field. He stayed for 20 minutes, so I got lots of pictures and even a sketch. Your tutorial helped so much....thank you!
Another alternative to the grid method is to just project the image and chalk it on--but I paint in acrylic, and that's something to consider. I use an Artograph projector; this isn't an advertisement and they're actually kind of expensive, but you basically get the same result with less hassle. In any case, I love these tutorials. Andrew T. is the most versatile artist I've seen yet. My paintings have improved immensely. Thank you A.T.
Been painting for 30 years this channel is great. So strong in keeping to the basics, many things I simply have taken for granted and have grown careless with I have been reminded of while watching Andrew.
Thank you so much.
Lovely Andrew! Nice to see the finished painting of Quil. Incidentally the white patches on Quil are not 'missing feathers' but rather a characteristic of Wedge-tailed eagles who have two distinctive white patches across the top of their wings. Its quite visible from a long distance away and may have a signalling function to other eagles. Cheers. Martin (Quil's human 'husband!')
Oh Andrew! Thankyou so much for this wonderful tutorial. In the 80's I visited Australia and saw these magnificent birds flying in the outback. Then, on the s!ow-moving Ghan, the train passed a wedge-tail feeding by the side of the track. I was literally feet away and when he saw me looking at him he 'hooded' his food with his wings- a typical raptor stance. Still my Number One wildlife experience! I have tears in my eyes remembering, and I am going to have to give this tutorial a go ASAP! Linda UK. PS would love a full tutorial to purchase. Many Thanks
I like that you include the processes that you've gone through to get to get this result. A lot of times, I am anxious to finish a piece as soon as I can, but the reality is that it takes time. Im enjoying the process as much as the end result.
I love your artwork of animals/ wildlife/birds because your genuine passion and love for them comes through in your paintings
Your bird pain.tings are so beautiful and you're a wonderful teacher too. Thankyou.
you are really something else..as in your years of experience to create such stunning paintings just takes my breathe away..i dream of being that good but the years are ticking by..stay young my friend
I have really enjoyed your explanations of why you are doing what you are doing. I too appreciate the need to loosen up and not go tight and detailed too soon. I love the use of the way you are using few colors and brushes and yet accomplish believable paintings. Thanks even us older painters can still learn and improve our work.
I guess I should have said, I’m totally enjoying your paintings. I hope you get the support you need to continue your tutorials.
Beautiful painting! It's great to see your words in action as you mentioned that detail is an illusion accomplished by a few brush strokes and the viewer's brain fills in the pattern. I always need that reminder.
Beautiful Andrew, you are my favorite painter
Thank you Andrew...I have painted on Wedgetail at the moment in acrylics over a long period of time...some of the question that you raise in this tutorial are the same that I was faced with when I was in the process of the painting my picture..I really liked the discussion about the 3 dimensionality of the feathers on the wing and capturing the correct light angle and tone...Much appreciated....CHEERS
Thank you, once again, Andrew. I so look forward to seeing one of your tutorials appearing in my Inbox! Birds are among my favourite subjects, as well, and I've always used multiple photos to work out my compositions. I also love what you said about detail. People always remark on my 'attention to detail' and I can never explain to them that I don't really fuss with detail, it's all an illusion, it just LOOKS as if I've put in a lot of detail! Now I can use the word 'illusion'. xxx
You captured the attitude of the bird, it looks alive. You have the unique ability to sculpt with paint. Thanks for another awesome video.
Stunning painting, camera work, sound, lighting... you keep things upbeat and fun yet informative, thanks from Georgia, USA.
Thanks Brian! I appreciate the feedback. :)
You make it look so easy, how I wish it was. All my respect Andrew.
He looks like a Noble Majestic King. His colours are Magnificent.
The lighting in the painting is absolutely breathtaking and gorgeous!!!!
It`s a verry interresting process, you are showing…. i could look and listen all day long… !!!---Thank you , for this inspiration !!
This video is fantastic. Very well explained. Showed the reference. Sam Earp does this and it helps. You also painted the birds attitude very well. Great job. Thank you.
So cool!! When I see the eagle it connects me with the supernatural!
You are just amazing young rarely famous painter artist, I enjoy all of your preparation right to the end of the painting.
Your approach to art is amazing. All the preparation you do, finding the best composition. I watch few painters here on youtube. They are perfect but you add touch of art to your paintings. I like the atmosphere of this painting. Such a dedidication to details. Your block in is good enough for most of people.
I love the rich colours and the dramatic lighting in your paintings. Thank you for a very useful tutorial Andrew. By the way, love the bad ass bottle!
wow! thank you, I've never painted birds, but in your process of painting this eagle I want to start learning more paint some birds, your the (my) best! Bravo!

I have a very long way to go before I can paint in the way you teach. It certainly inspires in me to strive to reach your level of excellence. You are so inspiring. Thank you Andrew!
This is by far the best painting channel on the tube.... very helpful to amateur painters like myself. The only thing id like to see more of is mixing color.
Hey Casey! Thanks mate. I'll do my best to make more vids about this. :)
+Andrew Tischler thanks man, I am an avid landscape painter, but i have trouble with green and manipulating the value/ saturation to create atmospheric perspective. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Very intelligent and constructive instructions of very talented artist Andrew Tischler ! Big thanks from another artist Danuta Plyer.
Every time I see your videos I am reminded how much I am in love with painting. Cant believe how lucky we are to have this. Thank you so much for your amazing content! I tried retouch varnish once on a painting with relatively thin layers that was about 4-6 months old. The blue in it got smeared all over, and so I havent deared to try again, but really want to now!
Beautiful Painting and awesome video Andrew 👌😍...... Looking forward for more awesome content..... Good Luck 👍

Wow! That was fantastic! It’s a beautiful Autumn day here in Ireland. What a great way to spend my time - watching a Master create beautiful art. I agree with a earlier comment- showing a painting from start to finish is very beneficial.I love your skull bottle too!
Andrew you’re the best love you tutorials
Another great tutorial. Thank you Andrew!
Just brilliant, as usual. It's a privilege to watch you work
Brilliant work! True nature of this beautiful bird is captured on canvas.Great as allways Andrew!
Wonderful job Andrew!thanks for sharing. It's always a pleasure to watch you playing with colours.
Great subject, powerful statement. Beautiful painting. I wish I could paint everything I love about this world, and I wish I could help our friends with paws, claws, hooves, and fins by painting them. All artists should stick their brushes together and paint these amazing animals and make a statement across the world. Let us make a day for animals, where all artists in the world no matter medium they work with, paint an endangered spice, that could be so much fun.
Hi Andrew, great video. Thanks for sharing.
Lovely! It looks awesome even with closeup
Alan: thanks a million for the board, detailed and high quality explanation and tips. Dagger brush is definitely the best friend to count with in this work! This is helping me to improve my work when painting brids. Greetings from Mexico City!!!
As always, great video Andrew! Although I´m a watercolor artist and our mediums are pretty different obviously I get so so much out of your videos in terms of how you approach your paintings and the methods you use! Very helpful and just as much entertaining! Keep em coming! :)
Andrew, I like that you're not pushing realism to the point where it stops being a piece of art and turns to just a copy of something. Thank you for all your hard work, and thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
P.S. By any chance you gonna show us how to draw kids? I have 2, and I wanna paint them but don't know where to start :)
Hey Oleg! YES! I will be next year. I have plenty more tutorials on the way. :)
I must say.... I think you are an awesome artist! I love your work and I can't thank you enough for sharing your knowledge so generously!
