I‘ve been looking forward to see a walkthrough on this one and only non-flybridge N68 in the world.
As it was mentioned in a Nordhavn webinar, the owner even paid extra money to eliminate the flybridge to make the boat 100% suitable for his own use. To lower the profile definately helps a lot to improve the stability in heavy seas.
After watching the walkthrough, now I even admire the owner more. There are numerous small changes throughout the boat which epitomize the owner's remarkable understanding of long-distance exploring yachts. He's not just a great voyager but also a magnificent yacht designer.
Also, great thanks to Nick for spending the time and effort to show us all the fantastic details which reflect the perfection of this wonderful wonderful boat.

    • @MrCobb-rq8iv

I would eliminate that wasted big saloon and choose the safety of both walk arounds and even yet more center of gravity. Why do you need a wide saloon for two? Not me.

I have watched a LOT of yacht videos of many brands, and I feel that this is the finest boat I have ever seen on video. Bar none! The owner's informed decisions based on untold years of Nordhavn experience and boating experience have resulted in a finalized build that, to me, is flawless. Absolutely perfect in every possible way. I usually find myself thinking that I would do this or that differently when viewing boat layouts. There isn't a thing that I would change on this build. Amazing! Thank you owners and AQUAHOLIC for this wonderful share! Safe Journeys!

Your attention to details, your understanding of natural people flow in a space dictating placement of controls, windows, etc. is always spot on, and your appreciation for exactness in the build execution and high quality materials being used is a very much welcomed aspect of your in-depth coverage of these boats. Beautifully Done! Very Much Appreciated given the time and effort that you are putting forth to offer these highly polished video presentations.

Honestly this is the best engineered yacht I've ever seen. On top of that the quality of living spaces really does make it a dream for owner/ operators. Nordhavn and the owner hit the mark with this boat. The only thing I would change is the engines to Cat but thats just personal preference. Fantastic tour. Thank you for showing this.

Engine choice is an option too. A few of these have Scanias, per owner request. Cats are nice, but their heat rejection isn't so good, hence why they haven't been too popular a choice for Nordhavns.

    • @Ulbre
      @Ulbre 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I think i'd keep those engines. If you look across the whole range of Nordhavn boats, they use so many different engines. I am sure they have got where they are by knowing what is the best fit for whatever particular boat. Just my opinion, yours is also a good one :)

@@howardwilson3821 these luggers are so incredibly durable and the fuel polishing system is so sophisticated that you don’t need the redundancy of another 400 hp engine. Doubling the horse power on a displacement hull won’t really add performance either.

What an amazing tour...as a Kadey Krogen enthusiast I can say that there are so many similarities between the two manufacturers...and I know how much both manufacturers respect each other. I still can't be moved from the Kadey Krogen 52....in terms of homeliness and beauty. I was once a Nordhavn fan...but I have moved to Kadey Krogen....after 20 years of research....but both manufacturers are just awesome. They are the go to manufacturers for anyone interested in live aboard exploration. As you say Nick this boat is the expression of the owner...no flybridge...and the interior reflects the owner's taste. For me a flybridge is an absolute priority...the tender sitting on the owner's cabin was also odd I thought...but wow...what a fantastic yacht. This owner is a lucky couple indeed!! The engine room looks like something from the ISS. Every buyer of these yachts gets the boat they want....we can only salute their good fortune and wish them many years happy cruising. Superb vessel.

I know that (except winning a rather large lottery) I will never be able to afford a vessel like this.
However, due to the quality of the work, the design, and that engine room, the multiple systems of safety backups built in, this vessel is worth every penny of the selling price.
What a great cabin top to add solar panels to, plus that lazerette has enough room for another rather large chest freezer!

My favorite Ship/Yacht/boat that I have seen on this channel, a proper ship, with all the backup systems and space , absolutly first class, hats off to the owner for showing us this boat/small ship and chapeau to the owner for choosing such a great design.

Lovely boat. Terrific interiors. There is a catch. The davit and tender is mounted on the bow. Once the tender is brought over the bow someone must descend a ladder to board and bring to the stern. It is a two person job at best and in weather it doesn’t look very safe. I have a Fleming 65 and the davit drops the tender off the starboard side. Single handing is a breeze. Again, a great boat.

I'm fairly sure Nordhavn is going to set you up in your own little ship for doing such a fantastic job of showing us around. Just a small 65ft or so. I can see you at the helm now motoring around the ice while live streaming your TH-cam channel subscribers. Thanks for showing us around a boat that dreams are made of.

Is this a stretch 63, or a 68 with the flybridge lopped off? It certainly looks remarkably like a 63 without the flybridge!
Edit: From the interior, it's obviously a 68 with the flybridge chopped off :)
Also, if it's going to Scotland, the bug screen will also ensure the midges don't get in :D

68 without Flybridge. correct. Owner plans to operate in northern waters. Seems he had a Nordhavn with flybridge before, but never used it.

Were I to ever have the means a Nord is all I'd ever want or need. Even if I had 100's of millions or more a Nord as wonderfully laid out and outfitted as this one would be my home on the water. This is how I'd want to travel the worlds oceans and Great Lakes. A Nord truly is a home on the water that you can feel as safe as if you were in your home on land and IMHO be just as comfortable. The owners of this one have had built a truly spectacular vessel that is very well laid out and I know I definitely would not want for more.
Thank you for bringing her to us, talk about dream fuel...

I was once onboard the latest N96 at it's finishing stage, at their yard located in Xiamen China. Absolutely stunning yacht and awesome work they do to produce these beauties. I specifically walked through the engine room to check their layout and it was just clean layout with everything over engineered in a good way for owner's convenience and safety. Very impressive.

I adore the levels of engineering, redundancy systems, and "the little engine that could" feeling that these Nordhavn vessels will literally get you anywhere, and back, safely. The "little ship" moniker is never more apt than with Nordhavn vessels, as there is a level of industrial, work-horse, feel to all these vessels. And despite all of that, and my adoration, I don't think I'd ever buy one even if I had the spare millions just sitting around. And it is down to that industrial feel. So much of the space is dedicated to the engineering and industrial reliability, the vessel designed for working, that it loses a lot of the 'home from home' feel, and instead, gives you the very, very expensive feel of what it feels like to live on a professional fishing trawler with a better lounge.
This is a 68 footer with all the comforts of home of many of the equally capable (for the world-travelling use any of us would likely ever give them) of a 50 footer like a Grand Banks, or a Hardy, a Seaward, or a Flemming, etc. I recall, Nick, you doing a tour of the wonderful 2007 Hardy 50, that seemed to have all of the same levels of cabin comforts, just as much living space in most regards, and cost far less than a tenth of the price. And you'll be paying the extra harbour costs for the extra 20 feet of ship over a 50 footer.
I'm certainly not saying that these are a rip off, or not worth the extra money, because that extra engineering really is superb. I just wonder who it is for. Because these often do feel more like a working vessel than a live aboard one, where the reliability to get anywhere takes huge precedence over the comfort and experience of the time on the journey. They feel as if the ship itself is given more importance than the reason for being in it.

This boat is built for me.... a techy who would sacrifice luxury for redundancy and reliability any day. I could never afford one, but this is my dream boat. I boat that isn't about getting me to the mediteranian or the bahamas, but getting me to the norwigien waters, Alaska, Cape Cod, anywhere in the world with the knowledge that any engineering failure wont result in a call to the coast guard, even if poorly planned and caught in a storm.
I love rough weather boating. There's a thrill to being where the comfort yachts can't go.

"Classic Nordhavn", "real little ship stuff", "Miele", "very, very comprehensive", not to mention the mirror waves. What a beautiful boat. It's nice to get an idea of where I could shovel my millions if I had any - this gives me a very good one.

31:48 that polishing system for the fuel is a quality idea on a boat with such a large tanks. Because as we know marine diesel really likes to rot when you leave it to stand. This will save a lot of money and a lot of hassle cleaning tanks and fuel lines And of course on wasted fuel
