As a dreamer consuming more than my share of nordhavn youtube videos, your videos are fantastic. Your experienced maintenance and “lessons learned” perspective is refreshing and a new angle from the typical TH-cam sales, or vlog formats. In a good way, you have insight to say things that we are not hearing in other formats. I will watch as many as you are willing to produce so please keep them coming.

As long as they dont tip over and become like Tony the mechanic (actor Brad Garrett) in Seinfeld. That would be a sight, James K running away with your Nordhavn at 9 knots, being overtaken by pontoons.

@@pflaffik Differ strokes for different folks. Nothing wrong with pontoons. :)
I'll take a tri over a cat any day... nothing wrong with a power boat either... it just depends on what you like. Take look at the FPB designs... maybe some day. :)

I spent 30 years working on police cars, as a fleet mechanic, and, can really relate to your experiences, intimate practical knowledge is invaluable and is why your tours are the best I have seen on TH-cam relating to actual ownership / maintenance of these high end boats. Pulling up floor panels, climbing into bilges, explaining the electrical systems, stress points, failures of the heads, etc are fantastic things to know, and things that are rarely covered in “sales” tours. A salesman is never going to tell you the black water hoses are way your boat smells like farts.
I was especially liked you pointing out some of the “hidden gems” like the DC relays hidden in the master cabin (horrifying to me I might add)

The one thing I see with these 62s is that they remind me of the old jaguar XK ease long Slurpee fronts bulbs on the back. I will be looking for a forward layout if I can ever afford it. Great talk of this 62.
My dad and I had a 30' Bayliner with twin Volvo Penta 280 in board/ outboards. The wires in the fly bridge were corroded and problematic. The older boat was not used much and the Gasoline had turned the intake into a gooey mess. So much so one of the valves stuck and pushed the rocker stud out of the head. Hot dipped the heads, installed a new stud and was ready to go.

I have seen a few videos of Nirdhavn boats and are generally impressed. As a retired field engineer in the pharmaceutical industry I often came. Across the problem of the operators wanting to know how full the many tanks in their system were at the operations room. Generally.we solved this problem by installing pressure transducers in the bottom of the tanks and running a signal wire back to the control room to a calibrated gauge calibrated in litre Of course we had to adjust for the length and internal resistance of the readout wire. Generally we installed two transducers and controls. Accuracy was within .1 of a litre with a 10,000 litre tank.

The short comment is great content and great editing. The longer version, the editing was entertaining ( the warning, the fast forward counting and the jeopardy music) but not to over the top. The walk through is probably the best and most honest product ( be it cars, boats or breakfast cereal) I’ve ever seen. Your knowledge and passion shines through along with your attention to detail it’s outstanding. I’ve been a nordhavn video watcher for awhile and I’ve seen pretty much all the TH-cam yacht reviews out there and YOU are the first one not leave that used car salesman taste in my mouth. We actually just bought the B-Knotty Californian that can been seen right behind this 62 in some of the videos. You are amazing! Watched your video on the 63 before seeing the 62. In my opinion, the stern on the 62 is butt ugly. The engine room on the 62 is not in the same class as the roomy 63s. I have been looking at and drooling over Nordhavns for years. I have learned more, and know more about them by simply watching 2 of your videos. I do plan to watch the 57, but it is the 63 that has grabbed me. Thanks, James for your attention to detail and for sharing your years with Nordhaven with us. Be happy, be safe.

These videos are simply brilliant. Sharing knowledge like this is invaluable for people like me. Our plan is to look at 55/60s in the next 4-5 years and so we are already accruing loads of research so we know what we shoukd be looking at for what we wang to do. Walk arounds rarely give the in depth knowledge I am looking for. Simple stuff like the battery banks/cost per unit.. potential voltage drop etc I thought was so interesting. I would love to see you do the same length walk around on a 60 fly and explain where the pros and cons are versus the 62/63..especially on the aft vs forward pilot house debate etc. Great stuff.

YES! You should keep talking! Absolutely THE BEST walk-through ever produced. I’m watching the 57 next.
A 62 or 63 is a dream, attainable ONLY if I can tear my bride away from her 4 bedrooms and backyard.
However... if I’m successful...I am calling you & ONLY YOU! You sir...are THE Nordhavn God! Your motto should be the “5 P’s”...Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance. Should be mandatory viewing for anyone contemplating investing in a piece of equipment like this with many, many systems to monitor and maintain. I’m 40 years in heavy equipment maintenance, acquisition & disposal...you have even opened my eyes at 05:00 to the stark realization that it is rarely hop in, turn the key, pull in the spring line & go!

Cant wait for you to get on an 86 or 96. Nordhavn advertise them as operable by an owner without crew, would love to hear your thoughts on that during a walk around. Either way its fantastic that you point out the good and the bad. Absolute best sales technique is to just be honest, please keep up the outstanding work!

Terrific walkthrough and great insight - particularly as it relates to the trade-offs and compromises inherent in owning a Nordhavn 62. As a practical matter, with only 36 made, you have to take whatever comes onto the market when you’re ready to buy. Having said that, there are no poor choices in N62s and these boats are such gems of seaworthiness that you learn to love any idiosyncrasies (even the engine room ceiling height).

Awesome intro with the skate board! Loved it and the video was incredible! Most info I've ever heard, great content. Was onboard the Grey Pearl more than a decade ago in the Seattle Boat Show. Been in love with the Nordhavn brand ever since. What a valuable asset your knowledge of these boats are. Great job!

those back railings u can pull off or add back can hve a ladder like new tents hve that just extends down when u need it & compresses back together in on itself when u don't. Just need a way to hook it on hand rail as needed.
