Very nice collection my friend. 1878 is a cool year when you think about who could have spent one. They could have been in a poker game in a saloon somewhere in Dodge City. It could have been taken from the loosers pocket of a gun fight. If only they could talk.
Yes Sir- that's exactly why I like collecting coins. You get the know the year and the mint they came from and then...who knows where the coin has been! Thanks for watching John!
Thank you Anna T! It took awhile to collect all the 1878's that I wanted, especially graded. I've seen your BU Morgans on your channel and they are fantastic!
Those Morgan’s are stunning,I love the reverse especially in nice grade as it really stands out,I don’t have any Carson City ones,Have a great day 👍😎👏👌
I'm glad you like the coins! The Morgan's are starting to get very pricey and harder to acquire in good grades. It's a bummer because it makes it harder to collect. Take care- I hope your lock down ends soon.
Nice video, cool coins! Thanks for sharing! I cant afford the grades you show but do have 78's with 8tf, 7/5 (7/8)tf, 7tf 2nd and 3rd Rev., a S and a CC all in at least AU to MS feell quite lucky and pleased to have them. Looking for 1879 S' s in 2nd (78) and 3rd (79) reverse.
Always nice to meet another collector! Thank you for taking the time to watch this video. Glad to hear you have a great collection of 78's going! For the 79's the big one is the CC of course. I haven't worked on that part of my collection in awhile, so this comment is a good reminder to look at the 79's!
That sounds great Aloha Stacker. It takes a long time to finish off a book. Nothing wrong with buying what you like! Thanks for checking out the video and leaving a comment!
Gorgeous DMPL, looks like ms62-3 is your sweet spot! I love Morgans! The price is going up now! I just finished ms64 year set, anyway CC set is coming along...
That's awesome! MS64 full year set- great accomplishment. I just purchased the last coin I need for the CC's tonight. Got a 1892CC MS63 on the way. That one cost a bit. With the pricing going up, it's been hard to acquire MS64 and higher for a lot of the coins. I always enjoy your comments- thank you for watching!
@@SilverStruck nicely done on CC set- the most popular mint marks of Morgans! The value is definitely going up! Good for you, buddy! Ive just started cc , gotta long way to go, but I do have my base Morgan set now and feeling a little bit better lol.
Of 1878 I only have a CC, but after watching your video it would be pretty incredible to have the complete first year. My CC is slabbed by PCGS, somewhat shy on buying raw unless it was in person. Cool collection!
I hear that-it's hard to purchase raw unless you can hold the coin and examine it. I prefer graded coins- less risk. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Nice collection. I have a year date set collection of Morgan’s. But not graded or as nice as your collection there. I’m starting to transition to more graded ones but it’s so expensive. Guess I will see how it goes. Love the DMPL’s you have, all those coins look great. Nice video 👍
HI Spokane Silver Stacker! Having a date set like yours in any grade is a great accomplishment. I have all the fist year (1878) and last year (1921) of issue and all 13 Carson City years for the Morgan dollars. Not sure if I will go for the whole set. As you know- the Morgan dollar market has exploded making expensive to collect. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! I subbed your channel just incase you ever decide to post some of your collection. Keep collecting! 👍
Nice channel intro! Never got into Morgans as someone I know got a fake one as I was just starting with stacking and was dissuaded from getting them and just stay with modern bullion. Even if I didn't take that advice, I don't think I would have a Morgan collection as impressive as yours, nor would I know the detailed facts on each released coin. Great vid, as always!
HI Dude! I collect almost all slabbed Morgan's that are authenticated because of the type of experience you had with a fake. It's really too bad there are a lot of scammers out there. I love the history behind the coins. When I was double checking some history facts for 1878 I found that was the year of the Lincoln County war out west. Next thing I knew hours went by as I read of that time period!-lol. Thank you for your continued support!
Surprisingly, I have a few of the 1878s. I recently I got a 78-S PCGS ms65 and a ungraded 78-CC. I been thinking about getting the 78-cc graded. I want to say it’s a MS62. Just not sure if it’s worth it or not.
I have a P coin, no mint mark, 1878 coin, has some scratches, but look kind dark on reverse side. Is it steel valuable. I love any coin that is Morgan.
The 7TF are the more common variety, so for your coins to be worth more- you would need to identify a more rare vam. Other than that, the worth of Morgans are largely judged on their condition- so a high mint state makes the coin worth more.
I'm new at this and I got a Morgan coin but in the back it has goloid metric in stead of the eagle. Haven't seen much of these but I did find one on ebay for about $4.000+ I need to do research on it. Not really looking to sell it.
Awesome video I also have all of the 1878 Morgan‘s including the 7/8 tail feather certified by in. G. See. ENM. S. 63 in my opinion San Francisco has a lot better strike than all of the rest
Excellent! 1878 is a really fun year in Morgans to collect. Your right about San Francisco being known for better struck coins in the Morgan dollars and other numismatics as well. For 1878 I like the Philadelphia coins due to the vast number of Vams, not the strike so much. I really appreciate you watching and commenting- thank you!
If you would like to email me, I can take a look at your coins. A trusted local coin shop (LCS) is another way to go, they should be able to help better because they can hold the coins.
I’ve got one on hand that I picked up from somebody owed me a couple dollars and it is a San Francisco 1878 liberty let me know what you think it’s worth I’ll send you a picture if I can

I target these as well. Nice work. Those DMPL’s are beauties.
Thank you for checking out the 1878's! I still have all of these in the collection. Take care- SS
So awesome!! Like 25!!

I have a 7 feather maybe 8 1878 she still has some shine and the long arrows cool vedio
HI Janet, thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed the video. The 1878 Morgans are really fun to collect, lots of varieties.

Wow what a beautiful collection. I just started collecting Morgans about 5 months ago. I love them.

Love the Morgan and yes I collect them as well... I just buy the ones I like for now, but I plan to work on finishing my book next year...

Thanks GD! Those 1878's are fun to hunt down and collect. Tons of Vams as you know.
I learned something! I need to break out my 1878 morgan now!
Glad you liked the video Stacker Dude! I appreciate you watching and commenting!

You may want to research your coin to see if you have a variety or VAM. If you have a coin with a variety, it may be worth grading it.
I have a P coin, no mint mark, 1878 coin, has some scratches, but look kind dark on reverse side. Is it steel valuable. I love any coin that is Morgan.
1878 is a great year of Morgan dollar to collect! Glad you hear you have one in your collection👍👍
I have two 1978 Morgans, however they are raw/wild. They have a grayish tone. Can old Morgain be valiuable, w 7tf.
The 7TF are the more common variety, so for your coins to be worth more- you would need to identify a more rare vam. Other than that, the worth of Morgans are largely judged on their condition- so a high mint state makes the coin worth more.
I have a 7/8 tail 1878 how
Much is it worth ?
It depends on the grade. You would have to have the coin graded and then look up the values.
I'm new at this and I got a Morgan coin but in the back it has goloid metric in stead of the eagle. Haven't seen much of these but I did find one on ebay for about $4.000+ I need to do research on it. Not really looking to sell it.
That's very neat. I have never had on of those in the collection or nor have I ever seen one up close.
I work at a 7 eleven, so my eyes are peeled lol

I have a 1878, 7 tails third (1879) reverse Morgan dollar, with CC mint mark. I don't know if is valuable
It's easier to figure out value once the coin in graded. If it's a min state looking coin, you may want to consider having it graded.
I have one of this coins. Can you tel me by foto if its a normal one or a special one?
I can try if you like. Email a good pic of the Obverse and Reverse and if it's a vam, I will be happy to let you know.
I have 3 1878 and two 1879
Would like to know about it
If you would like to email me, I can take a look at your coins. A trusted local coin shop (LCS) is another way to go, they should be able to help better because they can hold the coins.

Glad to have your support my friend!
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Appreciate you checking out some past videos- very cool
Soooo your 1878-CC also looks to be a LONG arrow, 3rd arrow down is long!! For CC that could be a big deal! 😮
I'll take a good look at that coin and the VAM! Thank you for leaving a comment and letting me know, much appreciated 😊
I’ve got one on hand that I picked up from somebody owed me a couple dollars and it is a San Francisco 1878 liberty let me know what you think it’s worth I’ll send you a picture if I can
HI Ron, Thanks for checking out the 1878 collection! Sure, if you email a pic, I can take a look at your coin👍
