I think being a "true stacker" would be pretty boring. Just buying the lowest premium silver and relying solely on the price of silver to go up as a hedge is something I'm glad I never stuck to. Collecting has not only been far more enjoyable, but also far more financially beneficial.
@@CyberCurtainTwitcher right, if you’re going to do that you might as well trade paper silver. Nothing is more fun than watching your stack tone over the decades
@@Tracy-wr7mj Just sold some over the past month. I keep a check of what's doing well and what's not. For example, I bought the first issue of the two coin mexican proof & reverse proof set around 2015 for $200. Sold it a couple years ago for $450. The original outlay usually goes back into metals.
Collectors don't sell so unless you sell its not financially benefiting at all. Collectors suck at security as well and will end up robbed because they want to look at it because it's shiny. Materialistic mindset is for peasant class.
100% agree CCT! The trick is collecting the silver that both makes you happy and will also provide some upside potential when it's time to sell, imo. Thank you for weighing in my friend.
Great review SStruck. I think its good to stack both generic and collect high premium rarer pieces. Thats one way of diversifying ones investment. Cheers buddy and keep stacking 😊✌🏻
Appreciate the support, as always. You’ve got a nice stash of Everest rounds going now! I’ve gotta say, while stacking weight was initially quite important to me, I do believe I’m becoming more of a collector over time vs. a pure stacker. It makes stacking a lot more fun. 😊
G'day Silver Struck, its' always been collecting for me over stacking, the variety of coins, rounds & bars available is amazing, very hard to go past vintage silver which has a numismatic value depending on mintage & condition, I think that the majority of stackers would admit to being collectors, otherwise life would be very mundane, you showcased yet again some amazing vintage silver rounds in this video. I just picked up one of the Englehard Liberty trade units from SBS a few weeks ago. I guess Englehard, JM and the Mexico City Mint also made them. I don't go out of my way seeking vintage, but if I see a nice one... I will grab it. Thats what a base stack is for. Overpaying on something and only raising your cost average a few cents. SBS's top loader idea with his labeling is very cool and a box for them is available at any collector card shop.

Of all the collectables I really think vintage silver has the best upside over time. Aside from that, I love this older silver- nothing like it produced these days!
I've been stacking peace and 21 morgans at $30 for awhile now from my LCS. I'm okay paying the bit of an extra premium over a generic round (which currently is about $35-37 an oz) because I have the added insurance of the rarity if spot drops

I'm one of those on the list but I do not buy everything offered (you would need unlimited funds). He had 6 Engelhard Canadian Kilos come into the store four of which had sequential numbers- those have a heavy premium on them and you do not see that silver under the glass!

Based on what I have seen from you sir- your a vintage stacker for sure!! Nothing wrong with that label, vintage silver is awesome- best upside collectable, imo.
I found another BACHE bar last week near Flint, Michigan. I've also slacked off stacking because of the price. I still grab a bar or round if they're old enough or unique enough.
Those Bache bars are pretty scarce now. I have also struggled with the current silver pricing but I keep going because I believe silver has a lot more upside at this level.
Looks like you picked up a few of the same things I have gotten from SBS. I do a bit of both for sure. I mostly collect vintage silver and try to stack gold.

The LCS and I often obtain the values the same way, from past auction results (again similar to coins). I'll go on Ebay, Mineral X and others to see what the rare silver sold for. I lean on the LCS for coin values- grey book etc but not so much for rare vintage.
@@SilverStruck I started collecting back in 2017; primarily coins with a few rounds, with the goal of testing the theory that they will appreciate on two fronts: numismatic and pm values. while watching the market I am bewildered; i.e. APMEX vs. EBay pricing. guess I won't know until its time to sell. 8)
Yeah, I just bought some Buffalos on Friday. Those are probably my least favorite rounds, which of course, is why I bought them. I'm always mindful that I need to be buying some Silver that I don't like to buy, so that if I never need to sell, I do have some significant portion of my stack that I won't mind getting rid of at all. I know that the last time I was forced into a selling position, I went through my stack and picked out my least favorite Silver when it came time to turning it in. I think there are something like 13 or 15 different mints that are making Silver Buffalos, and some people have even begun to collect Buffalos from all the different mints. Definitely not my thing, but I think it's funny that so many different private mints are producing virtually identical rounds. Unless we go full Mad Maxx, I suspect that there may always been some kind of collectible market in which to sell some of these rounds and bars. The question will be what collectible rounds and bars will be considered? Certainly, not everything will make the grade, particularly if there is a larger crisis afoot in the U.S. and/or around the world. The good thing about this is that Silver's general trajectory continues to be up, and you will always have a minimum melt value to fall back on. That could mean a loss for you, but it will also mean that you can't ever experience a total loss. The fact that you're stacking both the boring Silver and the kind that you like to collect really gives you the best of both worlds. In an ideal circumstance, where the bets you've made actually pay off for you, your boring stack will provide you the liquidity and utility that you need to get through any crisis, and your vintage collectible stack will remain behind to either be sold, as you like, in a recovery period, or will be something that you'll be able to leave to your children or as a donation to a worthy cause. I'd say it's more likely to be a win-win overall, depending upon the adequacy of your stack relative to the crisis it becomes relevant to. Whatever the case, these were awesome looking rounds! They will likely never make their way into my stack, but I'm glad to be able to get a look at these beauties. Out of curiosity, what year did you actually start stacking for the first time? When you picked up your first piece of Silver, did you ever conceive that you would have the kind of stack and the size of stack in both Silver and Gold that you currently possess? I certainly never thought I'd have what I do. I was just trying to get my hands on something that would retain value, and I thought my time was very very limited. Perhaps not so shockingly, truly cataclysmic crisis was averted, and I've just continued to stack under the storm clouds for as long as I could. So far, it's been just a relatively light rain, though I keep seeing the dark clouds with a green hue, indicating a terrible storm with hail on its way. We'll see, if we both escape it or not, but in the meantime it's fun picking up new items & adding them to the stack & collection. Great video! Thanks for sharing these rounds.
I enjoy these detailed conversations. Sometimes I wonder if anyone other than you and I read these because I share a lot with you here compared to many friends on YT. After my childhood I attended some business college courses. In short- I flunked out pretty much as I'm a poor book learner. One of the professors was a retired carpet company owner. At one point in class he said "always go against the grain" and he was buying gold because gold wasn't moving. Cira 1998ish is this time frame. His words stuck with me. I could not afford gold then but I could after awhile and so I purchased a three gold coin starter kit from Monex Metals- around 600 per coin. I later sold them for 1200-1500 range- can't 100% remember. Never owned silver at this point as an adult. In 2008 my father passed away and that very same year my father in law had gifted our family a Morgan dollar. I put the Morgan in a drawer and there it stayed until 2018. One day in 2018 I found the coin and started researching my 1889CC Morgan, lol! I still have that coin- it's in my CC collection videos but now it's slabbed, graded and CACed. Well anyway- I found YT stackers in my research and the rest is history. First silver at that point- all Morgans and nothing else. Then I discovered Engelhard of course and at that time they were sold as generics, so I was stacking those hard. I still couldn't pass a collage course today but I run a pretty successful small business, lol!! This is my 29th year at a company my dad started- still going.
@@SilverStruck Really great hearing a bit more about your back story. Something you should remember is that intelligence and education are NOT synonymous with college. I went to college and got a degree in American history, which I'm faithfully NOT using in my job in law enforcement as a police dispatcher. Truthfully, most of my education didn't come from college or formal education of any type. Yeah, a lot of it did come from books on topics that interested me, but a great deal of it just came from conversation and life experience. There are a lot of smart and brilliant people who never set foot in any educational institution, and there are a lot of people who have all sorts of degrees today but are morons in a practical sense. My dad was always a would-be entrepreneur when I was growing up. We had a RadioShack franchise/office supply store when I was growing up, but of course, the early 80s recession kind of killed his business and we ended up declaring bankruptcy. But having his own business was always his passion. He never really liked working for others. Congrats on 29 years in the same business! That's really quite an accomplishment, especially in today's environment. Keep up the good work & thanks for responding. I hope people do read these discussions. The personal discussions about how you came to be where you are today are often some of the most interesting. We'll do it again soon...take care!
Stacking and collecting are two very different paths. Stacking is the purchase premium that is essential but for collections, the value is the condition and rarity. Some bronze coins can be more expensive than a gold coin. Nothing comparable.
There have been many times I regretted buying my 2nd piece of silver a vintage 1kg engelhard. afew years later it’s worked out the same as any 1kg bar. Nowdays I’d like to collect say 100 silver kangaroos which are well priced here in Oz
I've had similar regrets but have found that it all works out well over time! The Kilo bars are harder to move as silver goes up in price the smaller amounts do better, imo
Definitely NOT a rip off! Even the f it was it’s your money SS and who can tell another man how to spend his hard earned money! StackCollecting is the way! It’s like being married for a long time ya gotta mix it up to keep it fun and exciting, lol. Keep Hustlin
I think if you are willing to be patient and sell peer to peer or sell EBay / IG etc... premium rare vintage stuff can be a great investment. If someones only a emue to sell is a coin shop, then it is a horrible investment with little potential for return. For the smart collector (like you) I think they are great and will pay dividends for you Struck!
This type of silver is not good for trading to the LCS, very true! The collector market is doing very well and certain silver pieces will command a steep premium. Of course, I might have to sell most of this when I'm older like Skully did- that way the LCS doesn't get everything at spot, lol!
Profit is definitely a bonus. Truthfully I started filling Witman book's when I was younger My grandmother got me interested but I got lazy. 🙄 Nice looking Stack of Silver. I got a few Buffalo Rounds. Keep Stacking 👊
Yes sir, keep stacking! I started out pretty young in coins as well but when I hit my teens and twenties I was too busy with cars and girls to care about silver anymore, lol! Back on track now😊👍
I believe it is almost impossible to be a true Stacker these days. To many goodies out there. Even if it's one special piece in the stack. Vintage silver over Novelty for me. Vintage definitely has that extra layer of value. I don't think I've seen a TRUE STACKER in the community in a long time
For content creators there are not many true stackers here anymore- totally agree. There are always some comments in the comment section leaning to the stacker mindset tho. Vintage is my fav too!
when i have had to sell i would not get anything more then spot for most rounds including kooks..thus its more difficult to recoop the higher dollar silver..but i get the desire to go beyond simple buffalos
That's an interesting question. You could clank a couple bars together, silver has a unique sound. For me, I use a metal analyzer. so I verify the silver bars on the analyzer.
I haven't been into the modern collectables as much as the older silver. There are certain areas that have large followings like you talked about. Libertad's come to mind as another good example!
Congratulation of being a collector (self admission to being materialistic (opposite of wealth) you will wonder the afterlife for eternity continually searching for material items in a non material world. (Hell)
Well this is a cheerful comment, lol! Silver and gold is gods money and used against the future mark of the devil (opposite of Hell). Having a reasonable amount of material wealth to support a family is not a sin.
@@SilverStruckI would consider getting them regardless of my politics if I thought they were a good investment. However, the premium is sky high right off the bat and I don’t think it will ever sell on the secondary market for anywhere close to that. Rather they will probably end up in the melt bin in a few years. They’re more of a campaign donation than a collector’s item. I won’t be buying one.
The 100k watches are interesting. I did a little research on them because I know nothing about watches and couldn’t fathom how one could cost so much. It turns out a Swiss made watch of the same type can fetch something like 50k, and it has 30 grams of gold and some tiny diamonds, so it’s not entirely a hunk of junk. But from what I’ve read, watch experts have said the mechanism is likely assembled in China with only a few parts being of Swiss origin, making the watch much closer to melt/diamond weight value. Again, appears to be more of a donation than a product worth anything near the asking price. I just hope no one buys one thinking they can flip it ever.
@@Tracy-wr7mj I agree with you that they’re probably meant to be a donation, but if so, there is fraud going on. According to the website where these are being sold, “The coins are not political and have nothing to do with any political campaign.”

@@veritasfiles Thank you for sharing as well good sir! I look forward to our next conversation!
Stacking and collecting are two very different paths. Stacking is the purchase premium that is essential but for collections, the value is the condition and rarity. Some bronze coins can be more expensive than a gold coin. Nothing comparable.
HI NC! You have a great collection going. It's fun to watch the progress you make! Collecting the rare stuff is challenging but very fun as you know😊
@@SilverStruck That's true. Besides, I've neglected collecting a bit too much in favor of stacking.
I'm both stacker and collector, more of a collector, generic is just to boring, very cool additions 👊👍
Yes, I love what you hunt down for collectables SAW, good work!
That's my view as well! Collecting keeps things interesting while offering a big upside gain in the future for certain pieces👍👍
Shoutout to silver bar stacker
Great store! SBS does a great job with what he does.
@@SilverStruck most definitely but all of you stackers on TH-cam do a great deal by educating us virgins😂😅
@@goldsilverjunkie 🤣🤣
Profit is definitely a bonus. Truthfully I started filling Witman book's when I was younger My grandmother got me interested but I got lazy. 🙄 Nice looking Stack of Silver. I got a few Buffalo Rounds. Keep Stacking 👊
Yes sir, keep stacking! I started out pretty young in coins as well but when I hit my teens and twenties I was too busy with cars and girls to care about silver anymore, lol! Back on track now😊👍
@@SilverStruck I can relate with The distraction's 😂
I believe it is almost impossible to be a true Stacker these days. To many goodies out there. Even if it's one special piece in the stack. Vintage silver over Novelty for me. Vintage definitely has that extra layer of value. I don't think I've seen a TRUE STACKER in the community in a long time
For content creators there are not many true stackers here anymore- totally agree. There are always some comments in the comment section leaning to the stacker mindset tho. Vintage is my fav too!
Awesome stack-ollection!
Thank you! Still collecting the vintage stuff😊
when i have had to sell i would not get anything more then spot for most rounds including kooks..thus its more difficult to recoop the higher dollar silver..but i get the desire to go beyond simple buffalos
If I can, I sell peer to peer to help retain the premium verse selling to the coin shop.
How do I ping test my 10 oz bars? 🤔
Start by putting it in between your legs and........😂😂😂
That's an interesting question. You could clank a couple bars together, silver has a unique sound. For me, I use a metal analyzer. so I verify the silver bars on the analyzer.
@@SilverStruck thank you
is there a big market for obscure rounds vs the more popular like perth or the somali elephant.
I haven't been into the modern collectables as much as the older silver. There are certain areas that have large followings like you talked about. Libertad's come to mind as another good example!
Great video
Thank you for watching!
Silver is silver.
Thank you for the comment!
I guess I call my self stacker collector lol
That's a good way to look at it- stacking but some silver with a collectable upside 😊👍👍
Yup, it’s a rip off. Don’t pay 39$/oz anymore
Thank you for weighing in with your opinion, much appreciated 😊👍
PRETTY COOL SS
HI James! Thank you for watching my friend!
@@SilverStruck AND FROM A HOSPITAL BED LOL BUT TRUE
Congratulation of being a collector (self admission to being materialistic (opposite of wealth) you will wonder the afterlife for eternity continually searching for material items in a non material world. (Hell)
Well this is a cheerful comment, lol! Silver and gold is gods money and used against the future mark of the devil (opposite of Hell). Having a reasonable amount of material wealth to support a family is not a sin.
That's a bit extreme 😂😂😂
@@AGAUaddict I get comments like this every so often🤣🤣😊😊
First!!!
Jk in the house!
Will you be buying the $100 1 Oz silver Trump “coin?” 😂
Not sure on that only because it's a modern collectable. Good question tho!
I just hope no one buys one thinking they can flip it ever.
think its meant to be more of a donation to his campaign.
@@Tracy-wr7mj I agree with you that they’re probably meant to be a donation, but if so, there is fraud going on. According to the website where these are being sold, “The coins are not political and have nothing to do with any political campaign.”
