    This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new Lexus LX600 body-on-frame, large, luxury SUV. The LX has been totally redesigned from the ground up with new exterior and interior styling plus a new powertrain. This body-on-frame 3-row SUV has a 3.5L twin turbo V6 with a 10-speed automatic transmission, 409 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque with full time 4WD and active traction control. Gone is the V8 engine and the 8-speed automatic transmission, this twin-turbo V6 offers an extra 26 horsepower and 76 lb-ft of torque compared to the previous model. The weight of the Lexus LX600 has been reduced by over 440 pounds compared to the previous model and body rigidity has also increased. The new electronically controlled brake system and electric power steering gives the vehicle more control in off-road and on-road situations.
    The LX has a front double wishbone suspension, rear coil springs, available front and rear air suspension and active height control for improved ride comfort. 22” forged aluminum wheels, the largest size in the Lexus line-up are available for the first time to improve off-road performance. Multi-terrain select with 6 drive modes and crawl mode features are also available including advanced technologies that support off-roading such as a multi-terrain monitor with LX’s first dual display to give drivers the confidence they need in harsher environments. The instrument panel features Lexus interface with a 12.3” touchscreen which shows navigation and audio controls, the lower 7” screen features climate controls and serves as a driving support screen for the multi-terrain select. The camera image gets displayed on the upper screen while showing the real-time vehicle status on the lower screen. This allows the driver to monitor off-road conditions without having to switch the displays. The LX 600 comes standard with a 12.3” touchscreen, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a wireless charger, heated leather steering wheel, power driver and passenger seats with memory, heated and ventilated front seats, leather upholstery, heated rear seats, a power rear door with kick sensor, 20” wheels and Lexus Safety System 2.5+ and blind spot monitoring. The LX 600 can tow 8,000 pounds and has a starting price of $106,950 CAD/$88,245 USD, Premium $96,345 USD, F Sport Series 1 $119,950 CAD/$102,345 USD, Luxury $127,200 CAD/$104,345 USD and our Executive test model is $151,200 CAD/$127,345 USD.

    Thank you guys for the excellent review! I would add a few things to this since I am an LX570 owner and a big fan of Lexus/Toyota. As an american/Middle eastern guy, I know very well what this SUV carries underneath its skin. There is a famous saying that says it all " If you wanna go for a Safari, it is either the land cruiser or the land rover. But If you wanna come back, its' a just the land cruiser". I want to explain here that most of the other brands that have capable 4WD systems are not truly off roaders because they break very often on the first day of off-roading. The Lexus/Land cruiser cars are expensive because of the way they are overbuilt! For Example, the Sequoia is larger than the land cruiser but in the same time much cheaper, isn't that weird! But once you get to know the details of the huge difference in the build quality, you will understand the cost difference. This car is built like a tank! It defies Physics laws! That's why they sell like cupcakes in the middle east (for desert off-roading) while no body uses a range rover for the same purpose! (No body wants to die in the desert with dehydration!). On a different note, I love how they fixed almost all the problems of the old LX570, the excessive weight, the very heavy stearing, the bad MPG and efficiency, the loud and noisy Crawl control system, the outdated Infotainment system, the relatively disproportionate breaking power, and the annoying body roll. I still didn't like the 2-screen infotainment system and I prefer the land cruiser' one over this one. And above all, the new Tundra infotainment system, which is the best ever! Also the Ultra luxury model is very overpriced for the that Massage package esp. that it is only for the rear seats and so falls short to all the other brands. Great Job guys for nailing it! I totally agree that the best trim level is the F sport or the luxury trim ( in the U.S.) not the Ultra luxury one.

    You guys are spot on about the customers who buy these, we don't CARE if it's not the best tech, screen setup, storage space etc. We know it's reliable, smooth, luxurious, off road capable and has that lexus badge to prove it. That's why people get em, and that's why they sell very well despite the ridiculous gripes.

    Great review as usual. If money is no object and I want the most reliable upper luxury SUV in the world, Lexus LX has always been my top choice. Its a pity it no longer offers a V8, which is more suitable for its utmost character. The split screen infotainment system's aesthetic isn't as well coordinated as the system in Land Cruiser.

    • @Flying-Fox19
      @Flying-Fox19 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Money isn't an object for me but I do not desire to drive these large luxury homes on 4 wheels. Prefer compact SUV class with the handling and mall parking advantage. A V8 paired with $2 gas? For me it's driving to a gas station to fill it up weekly vs the $$$ that is inconvenient.

      @GreyMatter-what a clown comment you made. If money is no object then add a LRA tank. I did to my Heritage 200 and now can travel 470-490mi before fueling up. My 200 is better then EV on the environment. My 200 will be around for 30yrs while EVs will be disposed of long before that and I won’t be part of the problem that’s occurring in 3rd world countries where rare earth minerals are being stripped mined and toxic chemicals being flushed into the local water system. Look up how much earth is stripped to create just one ev battery. It’s pretty disgusting. Windmills kill one million birds per year. So please, get off your high horse because someone drives a gas guzzler.

      Most people buy them with long term loans and never actually own it. Pretty sad, as if you’re buying any vehicle you should not spend more then 15% of your net income on a vehicle. People are idiots and have horrible savings in retirement and car companies like colleges continue jacking up prices because borrowing is so easy

      Money rolls in easily for these owners. I was told by a banker that a lot of people earn enough to buy million dollar homes and can over bid 200-300k. Luxury vehicles on the road are a dime a dozen. Buying resale doesn't hurt either.

    • @gs98999

      @@yerbamate86 maybe they care a great deal about the environment and for example have no kids. Having no kids (or limiting number of kids) saves the earth way more than having a large gas suv. However that’s a topic that would get no one elected so it’s not a conversation option in the race to save the planet.

    Great job guys! It's a mixed bag for me. Aside from the Lexus reliability and the strong V6 I'm not loving it. It looks a bit cartoonish from the rear with the huge taillights and the front grill screams "steam train cattle catcher" as Zack pointed out. Yikes! For a vehicle in this class though the biggest let down is the way the rear cargo is configured with the dual height rear floor and the adjustable "tray thingy" to try and offer a normal flat loading floor for cargo. Very strange setup and overall rear passenger space along with cargo space is compromised compared to the competition. Again, great engine, fit and finish, reliability should be class leading but given the cost there are better packaged alternatives, I think!

    LC 600 MOTORMOUTH
    They could completely wrap the Escalade interior with 360 degree screens and I still wouldn’t buy it. The reliability is so low you may as well dump your money into a fire pit. The Lexus interior looks rich and luxurious. The exterior looks handsome and strong with the exception of the rear. The rear looks Durangoish.
    The front grill and lights do look a little like a falcon. I like the wood versus the aluminum trim. The vehicle dynamics screen below the infotainment looks cheap and very 2005. The recliner looks cool but buying a bigger vehicle for fewer seats would be counter productive for me. The room behind the third row is a punch in the face to the buyer. Don’t most modern vehicles have like 99 station presets? Do we still require tuning knobs or volume knobs with all of the controls on the wheel? More & more vehicles intended to stray off the path now include screens with off-road details like torque split, axle travel and things like that. I don’t know how many of these will be used for serious off-roading just due to the sheer size of the vehicle but I don’t think the people taking the vehicles off-road will be triggered by the information on that screen. The panoramic roof would add some brightness to the interior but it looks Lexus went with torsional rigidity as a priority. That Nissan QX80 is about $35K overpriced. It rides like a prairie wagon on squishy flip flops. I definitely think people that buy these will love them.

    Nice but they should have used the New Sequoia Size the measure the new LX. However it will sell because it’s new and a lexus with reliability. If they would have used the size of the new Sequoia, the option engine in the sequoia, add Panoramic roof and updated the dash design, it would be a great fit.

    There are TH-cam videos of folks returning new Escalades because of reliability and constant repair. I’ll take the “Older Technology” of Lexus which is tried and true, over the flashy new technology that ends up being a headache! AND, since my SUV’s are used for extensive travel throughout the US, I like the peace of mind of Lexus!

    Tech or reliability, id say you need both, like what good is the tech if its not reliable and breaks often, it then becomes a headache and not luxury. However not enough tech will make it boring. The LX could have more tech however again reliability is the focus here.
