Until they get rid of Lance, no one will take them seriously. Can't believe Honda teamed up with them. Good luck with that. Without an Adrian Newey they are doomed.
I mean who else were they gonna team up with? They likely weren't willing to try things again with Mclaren and they kinda set themselves up for this when their last president said they were quitting F1, which forced Red Bull to get Ford for 2026 as no one knew of Hodna would be returning at the time.
Yea but those parts have historically made the car far worse... Sure, takes time to make parts but when they get put on the car and its slower, of course Stroll is allowed to be upset and running short on patience with that development.
They'd probably double their points share next year if they picked up Sainz. Any performance upgrades make no difference if the number 2 driver is miles behind.
Alonso playing the team leader role perfectly. Put a rocket into them and ignite the passion. Must be a stressful environment to work in as Stroll comes across as a very demanding boss. If I were him and I am not, then I too would like to talk less especially to journalists come the following grand prix. Simply because little positive will be said. Wish they make a comeback fast.
Seems like Aston is becoming just like Mercedes: they are always super confident that they understand their car concept and can fix their issues, happen to have a few strong results there and then, get hyped up, and eventually slip back to periferia for many races to come.
I always find myself going back to Ocon's comment about Alonso contributing little to car development. While it should be taken with a grain of salt like everything, I do wonder if that's what Aston is lacking. We saw the team making a huge leap in 2023 after Vettel left by the end of 2022. Maybe that is what's lacking, an experienced driver how can provide critical input to car development.
I've always said that the the driver problem at Aston Martin is Drugovich. He's their reserve/test driver and the one doing the majority of simulator work on developing the car.
@@t-mar9275Drugovich can’t tell how the cars performing on track since he doesn’t drive it. All the actual on track data and feedback comes from the two drivers during race weekend. Everything Drugovich says is just theoretical at best.
Engineers Alonso has worked with have said he’s one of the best at feedback. That list includes James Allison and Andrea Stella at Ferrari. In fact Stella, an Italian and long time Ferrari employee, left Ferrari to work with Alonso at McLaren. In a recent interview one of the current top engineers at AM said the same thing. Ocon has zero credibility when it comes to talking about his teammates. Like he does on track, he’s trying to make himself look good and them look bad. It’s happened with 3 out of 4 just in F1, so it’s him and not his teammates. Remember the “l’m too nice of a guy” comment after Canada?
I agree. Honestly, I think he signed that very specific contract (post-driving ambassadorship, etc) to show Lewis that AM would give him everything he asked for - which was what Lewis asked Merc for - whereas Lewis had to go to Ferrari to get it. Yes, he is that petty. It came so soon after it got out that Lewis was moving and sounded like near enough identical conditions. There is _no_ way he was thinking that way a week before he signed the contract! I'm betting that he's quietly kicking himself since AM started sliding down the greasy pole.
I think they're on schedule.....2025 will be a turn around. Not sure on 2026. I hear that Mercedes has the best engine for new regs (2026). Renault the worse.....
The main problems of Aston Martin is that they hired the wrong engineers/directors. Fallows doesn't seems to be a good technical director and maybe the reason why he got sacked from RedBull. Also even if I'm an Alonso fan I think he's also a problem for the team because he isn't the type of guy to provide technical feedback all he wants is "give me a fast car"
mathematically each team has 10% probability of winning constructors championship. the fact that a dominant team exists, means that they have the intangibles that you dont have, and it's NOT development

Ironically, Force India seemed to do a lot better with a lot less funding.
They'd probably double their points share next year if they picked up Sainz. Any performance upgrades make no difference if the number 2 driver is miles behind.
They just extended Lance 😂😂😂😂😂
Why would a top tier engineer like Adrian join when the owner's son gets a free ride
Alonso playing the team leader role perfectly. Put a rocket into them and ignite the passion. Must be a stressful environment to work in as Stroll comes across as a very demanding boss. He's definitely not nurturing kind. I hope they get it sorted. It will be a cracker if redbull, Merc, Mclaren, Ferrari and Aston all were challenging for top spots in 26. Can you imagine?
the team need to get their heads out of their asses, stop telling us all how good they think lance stroll is, and just work 100% on figuring out the problem with their car.
Make sure to tell Alonso that, he thought Stroll was WDC-level 😂
If I were him and I am not, then I too would like to talk less especially to journalists come the following grand prix. Simply because little positive will be said. Wish they make a comeback fast.
Depends how the second driver’s They gonna back in the mixed soon it’s build around the first driver pick too drive
Seems like Aston is becoming just like Mercedes: they are always super confident that they understand their car concept and can fix their issues, happen to have a few strong results there and then, get hyped up, and eventually slip back to periferia for many races to come.
Can you make a chart of their super times deficit with a moving average since stroll took conltrol?
If Aston Martin is serious about it’s ambitions it should fire Stroll and give his seat to Sainz
By sheer coincidence, Lance Stroll announced his contract extension. Daddy is the best.
They started good in 2023 but 1 wrong upgrade brought them downhill. That's the magic of the cost cap. Can't correct the mistakes.
I’m starting to worry that maybe Fernando is starting to lose it. It happens to everyone eventually.
İdk it could just be a slow car putting the guy in a depresso as it has been the case for so long
He doesn't have many seasons left in F1... it's now or never.
Probably the car tbh
it's very obviously the car lol; krack et al have no idea how to make the car better
Remember, we are still working through the "Fernando Alonso in a new team" cycle
@@t-mar9275 Alonso also does a lot of work in developing
@@jathiyakhan720 Yes, in developing his bank account. Alonso does the least car development work of the three drivers.
Remember the day before Alonso signed his new contract he said right now Aston Martin are ahead of Mercedes. Crazy how things can change so fast.
What wrong is going on with AMR I don't understand. Very frustrating.
And they’ve re-signed Lance for multiple years showing, once again, that Lawrence isn’t serious about winning
It doesn't help they have a banana driving one of the cars. Teams need driver who can help develop the car.
Also even if I'm an Alonso fan I think he's also a problem for the team because he isn't the type of guy to provide technical feedback all he wants is "give me a fast car"
mathematically each team has 10% probability of winning constructors championship.
the fact that a dominant team exists,
means that they have the intangibles that you dont have,
and it's NOT development
I’m mostly just shocked that it took this long for ALO to start throwing shade at his own team. The honey moon is always over at some point and the ALO starts spitting friendly fire.
Hi I'm Lawrence Stroll, CEO of Aston Martin and emperor of the galaxy. I am certain that with Mike Krack running the team and Mike Hunt in the cockpit, we will be undisputed masters of the universe within 3-5 years.
They said start of season, they didn't keep up in development last year, it wont happen again. They're now slower than the alpines
Maybe lance is not giving enough data for the engineers to work on..
Not Stroll but Drugovich. He's their test/reserve driver and the driver putting in the most development work.
Nah it’s Alonso - he’s historically been a poor development driver as nearly every team he’s been in gets worse the longer he’s in it.
Aston Martin need to do the opposite of whatever he says.
Alonso: “The car needs more understeer”. Make the car more oversteery!
@@paperplane-db8qf worst take I’ve ever seen he’s currently got triple the amount of points as stroll
And in 2022 when the car was competitive he scored on the podium in 8/9 of the first 9 races and stroll was barely getting the car in the points at all
@@MaljigYou mean 2023, 2022 was Vettel/Stroll.
@@paperplane-db8qfThe development of these cars is much more complicated, than just “good/bad” driver feedback. I’m all for admitting the ire Stroll receives is rarely warranted, but let’s not start tearing Alonso down to balance it out. The man is a monster behind the wheel, he has 100% earned the respect he is given.
That would be expecting too much of Aston Martin. They're just not there yet.
And now they've just extended Lance Stroll's contract - pathetic
When you only have one driver that can give real usable feedback and genuinely help develope the car, the car will definitely lag behind the others on track, Aston really needs to ditch Stroll from the other seat asap, let Sainz have it or even Lawson if that's possible, you need someone who actual does something other than act like he hates being there and doesn't give a toss, every interview is just him gurning his way through talking bull.
No doubt Aston Martin is a big name with big ppl recruitment all over also new factory n wind tunnel and who is planning to take part in Le Mans also soon due to which Alonso felt to continue with them but d problem is he is short of time before he is retiring permanently n he wants to win a championship before that if not a win atleast... which he is unable to do with them ... thus feel a bit of regret to sign up a extension with them now ...😬😬
I think the Aston Martin team is very pleased with their performance as a new team. And I honestly think they dont have the ambition to be number 1.
That's an understatement
@@dislikebutton4981
Well... It may cost another 100 million a season to contend for the top 3 spots.
They are the only team that seems to bring "downgrades" to their car.
You will have to see at least two more cars come out of the new factory and wind tunnel before we can honestly say this team is lost.
On the other hand how can McLaren go from 8th fastest to fastest in less than 2 years why cant other teams do that..
8:20 Ignoring basic facts is a legacy of Otmar Szafnauer.
This wasn’t exactly a dire warning. They’re showing dire pace though. Their new wind tunnel hasn’t come on line.
How could they not knowing their own car well having both drivers experienced and highly professional, oh wait...
Understanding the shitshow AM is now is understanding the father and son dynamic presented to us last year
They don't even have the wind tunnel operational yet. We can't talk about their big investments not making a difference if they're not even operational yet...
I'm calling it (I've not seen the whole video yet), bye bye Dan Fallows, hello Mr Newey.
(( Fernanso Alondo ))
No more waiting for you to come back & make us happy again
No more defending you, and putting the plame on Ron Dennis & McLaren ( 2007 )
Theres only 1 long corner on the austrian track.....
Get well soon, Edd!
So it wasn't just me that thought his voice sounded abit different, not as Edd Straw-dinary (Sorry, I just had to)
Please remove the music from the background, much much better without it…. just like the on grid
Aston Martin’s biggest problem is that they don’t have 2x Lances. He’s a real weapon!
Ah, for the next year, we'll hear all the blame put on the new wind tunnel not correlating with the CFD models and the real track performance.
Correction 1:30 " It's a stroll way short of achieving its objective "
Dan Fallows can only work well under the genius of Adrian Newey. Alone he does not have the knowledge. Sadge.
Honestly if Lawrence was my boss and his son was promised a driver seat indefinitely while also not giving a shit about the car, I don't know how keen I would be to "rapidly improve" at the rate of the other teams
The biggest issue is playing to your kids dreams mate. Ruining a teams potential, employees futures, and everything else that stems from the fact that you won’t tell your kid he’s not meant for this sport. Big bad business man too scared to have a sit down with his own kid is worrying
Lance is happy with a mediocre car as if its fast, Alonso would eclipse his performance.
Well Aston does need 2 drivers to develop a car. Instead they're too busy paying for the windows licker's damage and trying to glaze daddy stroll
C’mon let’s be realistic they have never been a top team since Racing Point. So they having a decent car in the past year might ve been development fluke.
Lance is not the problem - seems to me that the team is top-heavy with unproven talent. Fallows was aero-guy at Red Bull, but is this showing that he did not have much to do with their success?
Contrast with McLaren's TD - Aerodynamics, Rob Marshall. He leaves Red Bull for McLaren in Jan 2024 and by the first upgrade they have shot to the top of the pile.
