Your videos really warmed my heart and made me excited for my camino. The strange thing is that I've seen all of your Camino Frances videos yet it never felt for a second that it 'spoiled' the experience of actually going. I barely recognized anything, only after rewatching I understood where you were.
I found your videos first in 2023 when I was prepping for my first Camino. I did the Camino Frances in 2023 with my exe and this April, I will be doing the Portuguese, alone .. I can’t wait! I love watching your wholesome content, it’s such a joy! 🫶🏼
After a long day, I finally got some free time to watch this episode. OMG!. You are so freaking good… the storytelling, the sensitivity, everything is perfect. I truly thank you for the effort. There is a lot of work behind this: the trip, the physical effort of the Camino, the effort to create such beautiful videos, the edit, the selection of the music. Thank you so much for giving us all this.
Stephanie, thank you so much for this beautiful video! I am loving it so much! I cried a few times watching it! I am actually about to leave to walk the Camino Portugues with my 80 year old father. He walked the Frances about ten years ago and fell in love with it. He wanted to now do the Portugues but at 80, he was nervous to go alone, so he invited me to go along! I am so excited. This is not something I ever thought I’d do but I cannot wait. I’m leaving behind my husband and three kids at home to have this experience with my dad. My bag is packed and I’m ready to go! ❤❤❤. Can’t wait for part two!
Thank you for another beautiful Camino video Stefanie! I'm currently having one of those insomniac nights, and your video just brings me closer to the peace I felt on the Camino Portugues two years ago. It's so wonderful seeing all the familiar corners and cobblestones. excited to see how you guys cross Rubiães:') and thank you for those raw emotions and observations on how to process grief...just let it happen and walk
Aw wow, thank you so much Katarina!! 🥲 Such sweet words, I really appreciate it!! I hope you've been able to catch up on sleep 💖 And yes getting to Rubiães was intense! Hahah but probably our proudest day
If you recorded every hour of the camino, i would watch it! Your mom is really funny and sweet. I am so happy you get to do this with her! You already visited more of the North of Portugal than I did, and i am portuguese 😅 can't wait for part 2. ✨
Stephanie, another fantastically curated video. So good to see a Camino family member sharing the path with her mother and with the rest of us via your video's.
fell into Part 1 of your beautiful narrative of the Camino Portugues and am looking forward to Part II. Been thinking about doing the Camino. Looking forward to being able to walk the ancient Camino and grounding yourself back to the earthly elements. We have to make a greater effort today to step out of this daily bubble saturated with consumables; to step back into nature’s ground, and connect back with ourselves again.
Thank you so much for sharing, Stefanie. I really appreciate you talking about your dad and your grief. It's funny (in a deeply unfunny way), but I was planning to do the Portugues this September, but my dad has also been recently diagnosed with cancer, and I realised a couple months back that there's very little time left now. I've pushed the camino back to next year, when life will no doubt look very different. Whilst dad is still here I'm trying to make the most of that, but I know that the grief is coming, and I'm frightened. We're a similar age, so I can't really express how comforting it is to see you talking about the hurt of losing a father so soon, but still finding joy and strength. Thank you, I really wish you (and your mum!) the best x
When I tell you this comment had me sobbing yesterday 😭 I have so many things to say, I don't know where to start, but mostly I want to give you a big hug!! When I started sharing things about my grief, I figured it could be relatable to people who had been through similar things. I never imagined it could comfort someone right in the thick of it. Thank you so much for sharing this. I'll be thinking of you. Please email or dm me if you ever need someone to talk to! ❤
@@StefanieHurtado Thank you so so much ❤ I might take you up and dm you some time, but for now just wanted to say your video really did make me feel less alone on a really bad night. Thinking of you too, and remembering your dad - he sounds like he was a great guy x
Good video Stefanie. Thank you for sharing, beautiful to see the relationship with your mother and the sharing of your inner struggles. I am Portuguese and I am planning to do the Camino Portugues next year. Looking forward to seeing the 2nd part. I wish you to overcome your inner struggles, learn from them.
Portugal looks beautiful, well done to your mother for trying and surprising herself on what she can achieve, in 2 days I start my 2nd Camino frances from SJPDP, really looking forward to the entire adventure.
"Sit down and cry by yourself if you need to, and then ... keep walking." What a great way of looking at life. I'm a 45 year old guy, so I'm not into all of this weepy emotion sometimes expressed by modern youth. You seem like a more sensitive soul, but clearly you've still got your head screwed on and your shit together. Congratulations on another terrific film.
Haha thank you!! I've learned I get oddly aggressive if I don't cry every so often 😂 and the release feels so good! Highly recommend haha! Thanks so much for watching ❤🤗
What a wonderful record of your journey with your mom and yourself. I thought it was sweet how you worried about her when she went ahead of you that day. How the roles were reversed from when you were young or even when you went on your first two Caminos. It was also refreshing to see your vulnerability in missing your dad. This video was so full of the love you have for both of your parents. And all of this with the images of the Camino Portugues! So enjoyable sipping coffee on a Saturday morning in North Carolina with my two dogs. Thank you for this gift to us all!
Kelly, this comment felt like a warm hug! Thank you so much for watching and writing such a thoughtful message and painting a picture of where you are ☺ soooo cute! ❤
So wonderful to catch up to you on your journey and meeting your delightful Mom is the cherry on top! Thank you for sharing your beautiful walk and your heart with us. Hubs and I started from Porto in May, but health issues caused us to head back home. We are going to wait till next year to complete our Camino walk.
just like a great book, I didn't want this video to end ... so looking forward to the next part so I can "walk" the Camino with the beautiful two of you
Hey Stefanie, I'm just back after my very first Camino (Frances from. St Jean Pied de port till Fisterra in 40 days). Your film about you 'Walking through fire' was for sure a great inspiration. Especially the way you showed how a 'Camino family' works was for me a revelation. I decided to write from day one on every persons first name and where they were from in my Iphone. In the end I apparently had chats with 213 people from all over the world. I had 3 Camino families ( because i took a rest days in Burgos and in Leon) . I'm still in full Camino blues, but it was for sure one of the most beautiful expierences of my life. That you can do it with your mom is sooo cool. I wish you a 'Buen Camino' for your life. And keep on filming your Camino's. Your the best!
Brilliant video. I love the fact your mum is with you doing this amazing Camino. Really looking forward to part 2. Your mum is an amazing lady, we can see where you get your strength from now. Even the strongest of us can have anxiety and emotions that overwhelm us from time to time and that’s okay.. as they say, it’s ok not to be ok. When those days happen, take your time and be kind to yourself. Your videos help in so many ways. Buen Camino always
I love your camino videos! You've been part of my inspiration to go on my own grief walk after loosing my mom. And I completed the portuguese route in July of this year. It was very hard, blut glad I went through with it. You and your mom are so cute together 🥰
...loved this video so much, Stefanie, and its been so nice finally meeting your mom (and can't wait to see Andre again in Part 2)... the flow of you weaving your inner camino, thoughts, feelings, anxieties & happiness, into your outer camino, is so touching and spell-binding... I feel so much empathy for you... your thoughts and feelings about your parents remind me very much of my own journey (my parents both died within the last 4 years)... yes, we become aware of how life can feel like a fleeting moment, and when our loved ones go, there is no turning back of the clock anymore... and eventually we will get there ourselves, at the crossroads of life and beyond... you also touched a very crucial reflection of today's breathless culture: to get nervous, when there is nothing left to do... like hamsters in a wheel, that don't know what to do, when it suddenly stops... I think, thats why meditation is so hard for us... and so important... ...if we would meet on the camino (my 3rd one is still waiting to come, maybe next year) I'm sure we would have a wonderful and deep conversation, and quite a laugh too (life's paradox: its serious, and at the same time also not)... thank you so much for being so open, vulnerable and enthusiastic, Stefanie... sending you a heart-felt 'ultreya' 😎💖🌈
Stefanie I am so excited to see you have a new camino documentary up!!! Your walk through fire documentary inspired me to film my camino Frances last year. (But I had 0 videography skills!! I’m still pleased with the outcome and want to say thank you for the inspiration!) I’m just getting cozy to watch part 1 of your video all the way through, but wanted to comment at the very beginning! 💚 Buen Camino!
I am so happy for both of you that you were able to walk the Camino together. Maybe your father was an angel? He didn't just leave you behind, he gave you something so beautiful as the Camino.
Oh Stephanie! Again, I sit here with emotions stirring after watching your video!! I literally cried with your last Camino!! You are one fantastic storyteller. Your mom is as beautiful a soul as you are, she must be so proud of the woman she raised. This time together will be cherished forever. It’s obvious how much you miss your dad - have that cry and walk on!! Buen Camino from Orlando, Florida!!! God’s blessings to you both.
Ahhh that was so beautiful! Happy and sad and everything in between! I had tears and was smiling while watching along! I loved watching you walk with your momma and it was so good cherish your dad’s memory while you walked, or sat (with those uncomfortable feelings). I’m sure your videos will be helping others as they process memories and work through their own grief. Blessings to you!
🚶🚶♂🚶♀👍Another great Camino video. What a special experience to be able to do this with your mom at this time. A big shout out to your mom. "WAY TO GO MOM". I really enjoy your narration. Yes, Portuguese Way looks like a really nice route. Nice scenery and enjoy seeing the different villages. I also enjoy seeing the felines😺 along the way.🐾 They appear to be very people friendly.🌅From a sunset/sunrise junkie I Love love the sunsets at 7:40, 13:38, 21:29.🌄 That was so sweet to hear about your anxiety and worrying about your mom. I just had to smile. 😀 Nothing wrong with caring. Thanks for sharing and keep on trekking. ✌n ca usa😎
Stephanie - thank you for your sensational videos of the Camino de Santiago you have inspired me to walk the Camino Frances with my wife next April. I watched your video of your first Camino, the one you dedicated to your father, and I forwarded it to so many people. It is a beautiful tribute, so I can’t wait to watch your Camino Portuguese with your mom! Quick question: what lightweight but versatile camera did you settle on for your videos? There are so many choices. Please keep making your wonderful videos - we all love them! Buen Camino!
I have done the Frances, Norte and Primitivo. Planning the Portuguese w Spiritual Varient next year, had been focusing on the coastal so thank you for showing the central as an alternative and why. And please tell me all about that scarf on day 2 or 3......I am obsessed. Love that you gave the camino a 2nd and even 2rd chance and got to do it with your mom.
So funny how we are so concerned on taking care of our parents or grandparents..kind of forgetting they were here before us and they did just fine. I definetly have the tendency of being over protective of my mom, since I also have just one parent alive. Than I rememeber that she carried me in her belly and, well, sometimes :)) it hepls. ❤ from Romania . Hope to meet you on the Camino next time
I was completely inspired by your first video! I start my own Camino at the end of September... less than 4 weeks away! I only have 2 weeks or so... so I am beginning in Leon. Leon looks so beautiful! And it's only a 13-14 day walk to Santiago. I've got most of my gear... I've over packed on a few test hikes... lol... and I keep editing down my gear. I have a 38L Osprey with a 3L water bladder, and currently it is around 22kg fully packed. But I still have a few last minute items to get... like a power bank... maybe? Would you recommend walking sticks? Instead of a fanny pack, I got a small chest pack. It's about the size of a large fanny pack, but the 4-way straps wrap around my shoulders an back and the pack is secured to my chest. In my test hikes my main pack belt is completely free so I hope it will be an easier walk. Does your fanny pack ever "get in the way" of your main pack belt? Or am I over thinking it? lol... I love your spirit and determination. What a blessing it is to bring your mom with you this time, great relationship between you and her... and your Father... he seemed like a wonderful man. He was a Bad Ass man. But you are a Bass Ass Daughter! Thanks to you, your father's memory is shared with thousands of people all over this globe! I Can't wait to see part 2 Any advice on where to stay between Leon and Santiago?
Wow, thank you for sharing this journey with us! I already loved your other Camino videos but this one I had to comment 😊 I am going to do the Camino Portuguese in a couple of months and now I am even more exited! Looking forward to part two. May I ask which Camino app you used?
Ahhh thank you so much Lena!! That's amazing! I used the app called Buen Camino. I like it for planning the stages and checking out albergues along the way 🤗
Stephanie, I enjoyed your France to Spain video. I have been looking forward to see your Portugal to Spain video. I did the Lisbon to Santiago Spain last September 2023. I only stayed in one hostel. It was at Mosteiro de vairlapo. We had private rooms. The staff volunteers were very nice. I've been thinking of starting a TH-cam to post my Camino. But I don't know how to go about it? Thank you for sharing your knowledge and adventures.
Wow, Lisbon to Santiago in only one hostel! You're tough! 👏🏼 Maybe look up tutorials on how to upload. You should definitely share your Camino, I'd love to see it!
I did my Camino with 8 others all from Portland, Oregon . We stayed in apartments, hotels, and the one hostel It took us 25 days walking We did take two night breaks. Both were in Portugal before we arrived in Santiago. You got me motivated. I'll work on posting my Camino in utube. Thanks
Lovely to see another camino video from you. Although I would have prefered it to be a single long video, instead of being split into several parts. But I still like and look forward to the next part.
Sometimes we just need a hug and sometimes we just need a good cry. Did your mom do a lot of walking before doing the Camino? My husband is actually starting the Camino Frances tomorrow.
Hi Tim! We started on September 8th. I put a breakdown of our days in the description, if you'd like more info. I definitely recommend some kind of rain gear! We each had a small travel umbrella (for both rain and sun) and that was enough for us 🤗 Buen Camino! ✨
How far are you going per day? Your mom appears to be close to my age, and I’m wondering what a good distance is for her. I worry myself about walking long distances when I go (next year).
Hi there! I put all the details of our daily distances and destinations in the description. Hope that helps 🤗 We tended to keep it between 10 and 20km per day.
Loved your Camino Frances video! I Gave it an A+! Was really excited whn I saw you made another camino video but U did not in any way capture the spirit the camino the way you did before. I give it a C. ☹ Oh well., like what I have to say matters to anyone at all .
Just an FYI, in case you frequently leave rude comments on TH-cam videos... The creator gets sent the original comment. So even if you edit it to make it less rude, the first thing they see is what you wrote first (how much this video sucks).
Thank you so much for watching! ❤ Part 2 is available now on Patreon: www.patreon.com/stefaniehurtado

I Can't wait to see part 2
Any advice on where to stay between Leon and Santiago?
A beautiful story. Thank you for sharing it.
Happy Friday!. Looking forward to watching the 1st episode!
Yayyy TGIF 🥳
I am so happy to see this! I love your Camino videos Stephanie and finished my first solo Camino July 11…so happy to be watching this!!! ❤️❤️
That looks quite familiar:) was there 2 years ago in May.. lovely view out the back of the Monastery the following morning!
We stayed in apartments, hotels, and the one hostel
It took us 25 days walking
We did take two night breaks. Both were in Portugal before we arrived in Santiago.
You got me motivated. I'll work on posting my Camino in utube. Thanks
Lovely to see another camino video from you. Although I would have prefered it to be a single long video, instead of being split into several parts. But I still like and look forward to the next part.
Muito obrigado pelos vídeos.
Espero te encontrar em um caminho.
Um grande abraço
Parabéns estão muito bons
💖
Sometimes we just need a hug and sometimes we just need a good cry. Did your mom do a lot of walking before doing the Camino? My husband is actually starting the Camino Frances tomorrow.
WONDERFUL
Thank you!
Beautiful ❣️
Thank you so much Jayne! ❤️
Miss your face!❤
omg hiiiii!!!! Jody Joe, what the heck are you doing here? 😂 I miss you too! How are you?!
Hello great video! Can you share the names of the places you stayed?
Really enjoyed your new video. Pretty sure my mom wouldn’t do that!
Haha thanks! I didn’t think mine would either 😂
25:01 - Stefanie walking fast. 😂😂😂
😂🤣
What month did you do your camino in. I'm starting mine mid September and still dnt know if I need to take rain gear..
Hola mi primita desde Envigado Medellinte te saluda Willian Hurtado.
Un abrazo
Holaaa William!! 🤗
What was the liqueur at the end?. Porto?
Yes, it was Port!
Wao... U r again on the road... I also want to go ... Pls help me
Loved your Camino Frances video!
Thank you for sharing this. A beautiful video .❤
