This helped a lot . I’m studying for my asvab and don’t understand percentages word problems but you helped me a lot
I am happy that this helped!
victoria freeman does it really help bc im in the sixth grade and i really don’t understand
@@tiakenzo0120 Look up professor Leonard on youtube he has a whole playlist for pre algerba and its not boring. I literally knew almost nothing a few months ago Now I know how to do fractions and percentages thanks to him and algebra equations.
DudeThatsEffedUp um....thanks
victoria freeman
Same lol
Question 1. Quick way, 6000 minus 2400= 3600.
3600÷6000=0.6 move decimal over two times to the right.
Easy
thanks for the tip!!!👩❤💋👨👩❤💋👩😘😘💋💋

First week of school and theres a test in 2 days on percentages and vocab. This video helped me so much! Thanks!
YOO YOUR OUT OF SCHOOL NOW??!?!
Right answer but long way. Easiest way is to multiply
65.5 * 15/100 which will give you 9.825.
You then do 65.5- 9.825 = 55.675
then round to the nearest penny which will give you $55.68
Right .
@Your Tube of course.
Yea that way was abit long. What is used what I had discount 15% (85), Cost price 65.50 ÷100 and times it by 85. A method I learnt in math class after being so afraid of it, now taking it on after 19 years. When i pause the video to work it out for myself n saw i was correct,I felt super proud. :)
That’s what I did. Thank you for confirming
@@theinseparableleesbrooksle9244 im confused where did you get 85 from ??
thanks, this helped a lot. my math teacher is really bad at his job and didn’t explain this correctly. in 2 days i have a math benchmark, most of the questions are going to be about percentages. this strategy will work amazingly!
I can’t pay attention to these narratives … I just can’t.
You don’t understand how much this helped me. Thank you so much
Omg! This solved all my problems for middle school!! Thank u 🙏 ❤🔥
Happy to help!
Thank you so much. They helped me a lot. You were specific how to do things and why you need to do that🙏🙏
No probs
You're a good teacher Thanks!🍎
KeMeTaurus Thanks!
KeMeTaurus Yes😄🤑
Imagine having to endure three hours of math learning percentage compared to a 9 minute video with everything I need
I have a exam coming, and this helped me alot.
You could’ve just multiplied 65.5 and 0.15 then subtract the result with the original number
You know what ... he made that long .... people with ADHD like me dont need that at all lol !
Yupp
he literally did it the longest way and confused me
I'm confused, how did you come up with 85% for the second problem?
100% - 15% = 85%. 85%p/100%w
@@memos234 Thank you
Thank you so much this helped me a lot like you don't even know
Glad it helped!
This helped so much. I’m studying for a math test retake because I failed 😞 because it was Bajrem and I had no time to study or sleep
In the first example, you can just subtract (600-2400) then put the answer you receive over the toatal (3600/6000) and finally, multiply by a 100 (because it is percentage)
what if 6000 is bigger than 2400? thanks for showing the simple way too
Right!!..
thank you so much this is exactly what I was looking for
we can find 15% of 65 and then subtract that from the original price to get the discounted price?
I feel this is more simple .
thx
Eppalapalli Parinitha true!
Yes cause that’s the
ditto
Yea, I did 100-15= 85%
65.50 x .85= 55.675
$55.68
Wow! I totally agree with all the people who commented, this viedo was great! Thank you so much
Glad you liked it!
wrote video wrong ,your a failure
Good tutorial..learning proportions but find it easier to just take 65.50 X .15 (change percent to decimal)= 9.8220 rounded equal 9.82 which is the discount off of the dress, subtract it from the total cost of the dress 65.50 -9.82= 55.68
Sky M wow thanks! This was a helpful method! Do you know if this method always works?
Think your maths wrong on that my dude
How come it became 9.8220?
Why u complicate something so simple
Thanks u helped with my homework
For the second problem you can just use the equation:
New value = original value (1 +/- r)
So the solution is :
New value = 65.50 (1 - 0.15)
The reason why we used subtraction instead of addition is because it is a discount, if it is a sales tax then we would’ve used addition. r is the percentage but is converted to a decimal that is why 15% = 0.15
The final answer is 55.675. Hope this helps anybody:)
Mantashah Bawany he put 85% because it represents the percentage cost of the dress or what was left because you already have a coupon of 15%. So if you look it in another way i think he put 85% because 100% - 15% = 85%. Hope this helps i dont remember it much anymore because this was during my first sem. Goodluck:)
@@faithysaThank you so so so so muchhh!!
Wow, you really crate comfusion not learning. It a way to solve it much easy way
rite. like just plug it into a calculator this is a sure way to confuse somebody that really is trying to understand this math.
In the second problem what determines when to divide I understand stand by looking at the out come why we would divide but how do come to that ?
I'm crunch studying before my test today thanks for posting this
5:44 how do you come up with 85% i am confused
Is this correct 100-85 = 15 ?? Or 100-15= 85
Do 65.5 times .015 u get 9.825 and that minus 9.825 is 55.675 rounded to nearest penny is 55.68 I know sometimes u can’t do this type of method like therefore when they ask u what is the price before in some word problems but I’m just trying to simplify it for u guys having a hard time btw percent increase/decrease is percent of change
Studying for finals in my summer program for kids to try to get them into independent school. I know another quick way to do it

No problem!
Awesome video! Oh, this made so much sense!!! :D
thank You!
You're welcome!
I feel so bad this was taught to me the same way. But I finally get it now.
Man by the time I watch and master this my "Achilles" heel will be non existent
It's correct but it is easier to multiply by the multiplier
exactly like just plug it into a calculator. why is he doing all this extra work.
Wow thank you soooooo much for explaining this Sir! I get it now!!!!!!! 😆😆😆
I got all correct answers in this exercise.
THIS HELPED ME SO MUCH! Thanks. ;)
Glad it helped!
I did my homework
Hey it’s been 5 years
this help me to solve some problems using percent
OoOoO! WOW thank you! #Staysafe
You're welcome!
Wow finally a video on percents thy actually made sense this was really helpful i needed to do this for my pre-algebra class thank
Wow... this is really making it seem SO much more complicated... First question, just figure out 100%, 50%, 10% and 5% of 6000 and make 2400 out of it for the 40% approval, which means the disapproval is 60%...
it easier to just take 65.50 X .15 (change percent to decimal)= 9.8220 rounded equal 9.82 which is the discount off of the dress, subtract it from the total cost of the dress 65.50 -9.82= 55.68
This is the simple solving.
Base= $65.50
Rate= 15% to get the decimal ÷ 100 = 0.15
65.60 x 0.15 = 9.825
65.60 original amount subtract to 9.825 P = 55.675 Part.Pennies 5 cents round up to 7 is 8. 55.68
Good Job this actually really helped
THIS IS CONFUSING ME SO IMMA HEAD OUT BYE
Good thanks. (Brit alert: how come you use an "x" in your manual multiplication to the side, and don't use it in the expression, replacing it with what to me looks like a decimal point?)
Thank you
Primary work, much?
What's the name of the formula you used called??
Attention 🔴⚫🔴
so the easy way for the first question is an easy formula which is : original value - New Value/ original value × 100.
Solution:-
6000 - 2400 = 3600
3600÷6000×100 = 60%
Thnx for ur time!
Thanks it really helped me
Good
I love you man
THANK YOU.
You're welcome!
Thanks dude
Can't front. U explain it better than All others. Copy???
is it like this math in cfat exam ? Please leave an answer
In the second problem why did you have to put zero in it's place value at 7:36? I am a bit confused by this.
Using this for the asvab wish me luck
very helpful
This is helping me so much thank you. I have a test tomorrow and I can’t fail So thank you so much
divide 65.50 by 100 and you get 65.5 * .15 to get 9.825 and subtract that by 65.5 to get your answer 55.675
What about
A refrigerator at Canyon View Appliances cost $2200. This price is a 25% mark up f on the wholesale price. What was the whole sale price?
1.25 * x =2200
Solve for x.
2200/1.25=1760
@@mrmaisonet why 1.25 and not .25?
the only thing i struggle with is just setting it up. If i learn how to set the problem up I can no problem work it out...the hardest part for me is just reading the stupid confusing problem and then figuring out how to set it up. And mainly because with every problem it's worded different and it changes every time...if anyone has any tricks or tips or can help me itd be greatly appreciated, I am getting ready to take my test soon and i REALLY REALLY cannot fail...I have been studying for weeks and i still struggle with these stupid word problems. I only have a couple weeks til I take the test....PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN, i can shoot you my email or whatever and would be willing to pay you or whatever
what if there is no 0 on one side and there is 0 on another side? please answer I am confused!
its really hard because
Because it's math
This is a helping video
Very complicated
This is rediculous. Why didnt you just divide the difference from the whole amount? That's all you had to do. No cross multiply or anything
I agree. That is how I would of done it. However, different people see things differently. In my 20 years of teaching, some kids that struggle do better using proportions as a tool. What may seem easier for me or you may not be for someone else. Thanks for the feedback.
The Judy question can be done in simply way than dat long method
Sandy needs 30 liters of a 30% HCl solution but only has supplies of 25% HCl solution and 40% HCl solution. How much of each must Sandy mix to get the desired solution?
how do u find this out
Angie Petrossian u dont
Why not 2400/6000=.40 or 40%-100%=60% disapproved? It may be me, but I am trying to review math at an elderly age; I find some instructors go around the world to get an answer.
I agree. However, some younger students need a different process before they can view the work in a more simplistic way. Half the time I instruct, it is not in a way that I would personally solve, but a way that may cater to the way some individuals think as a bridge to approaching a concept more simplisticaly.
GREATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!TYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYSSSSSSSSSSMMMMMMMMMMM
yeah
I
You and I are the complete opposite 😂
Why you confuse me like that .... lol .. appreciate it though
How did you get the 85 percent ?
Because if you get 15% off, you still have to pay 85% of the original amount. The original price is 100%. So I subtracted 15% from 100% to get 85%.
But nearest penny means 1p, so you only move it once? If you said nearest dollar then I would understand you moving it 2 places because 100p = $1 I get the rest except the last bit, please help!! Much love💛💛
I'm still very confused
STUDYPUUUGGGG
I want to ask a que
why not use a calculator
10.00
i dunt get it ;-;
Good
Where did the 100 come from🤔
Quickest way to do it is add 0. Infront of the decimal
I'm confused why he multiplied 85% as 85 I thought it should be .85 first before multiplying it to 65.50 in 8:29
kids have no excuse to be bad at math today...adults too (guilty*)

My grandma who doesnt go to school solves this faster. Why makes it so complocated
Where the heck did you get 3,600?
Rissa Robertson There is a total of 6,000 people that were polled. The problem states that 2,400 people approved, however the question wants to know what percent DISAPPROVED. Subtract 6,000 and 2,400 and that gives you 3,600. So 3,600 out of 6,000 disapproved. Convert that fraction to a percent.
Sir,if 60% of the students in a school are boys and no of girls is972 how many boys are there in school?
I interpret this problem (first one) as 6,000 is 100% of people. 6,000 = 100%. I would then find out what is the percentage on 2,400 approval rate. Since I do not know the value (%) I will name it "x". 2,400 = x.
6000 = 100%
2400 = x
6000 times x = 2400 times 100
6000x = 240,000
x = 240,000/6,000
x = 40%
40% is the approval rate, which in turn leaves me with a 60% of disapproval rate.
I always had problem solving x this was certainly different you worked out the approval then figured out the disapproval.
Easiest way = 100% - 15%=85% 85% is same as 0.85 so 65.50×0.85= 55.67
Nearest ten is 55.68
Question if anyone can help me when do you use percent like how you know its a percent problem ?
Idk how you got that 85%

Ammmm
my teacher dose it another way he when u put 85%right there he would do 15
