    I bought an 84 Bronco out of a junkyard. It has a Holley carb. I mainly have worked with Edelbrock carbs. So this video was very informative. Thank you.

    Very helpful video, Vince. Thanks for posting.
    The carb in my boat was rebuilt 2 1/2 years ago and there had been water intrusion in the fuel system. So I ended up replacing all four gaskets and gave the internal parts a thorough cleaning.
    The engine now starts right up and runs great.

    Nice job and good explanations on what, why and how. We have a 1950 Chris Craft U22 with a 1972 215 4bbl and my new Holley isn't streaming fuel into the first two ports. I am going to try your cleaning method. Please keep making useful marine videos. Thank you, Vince.

    thx vince. great vid. My carb on my '95 vortec only starts with starting fluid now. Guess it is time. Intimidating, having to strip it all down. Biggest challeng for me will be getting it tuned when all back together-- haven't messed with carbs since... 1995!

    Thanks. I see the secondary is missing the metal plate and the gasket... I guess with the blue gaskets those are not necessary, from what I have read.

    My venturis leak into the bowl. I will try this. My car has been sitting for a few years. I’m getting it back on the road now. I appreciate the advice. Do you have a video on setting the idle? I would like to find that. Thank you.

    I have a 4160 with a few years on it and must scrape stuck on gasket off with razor blade, now I have tiny bits in the metering holes if the carb body, I'm concerned about plugging up the circuit with this debris any advice on how to avoid this would be appreciated,

    thx for the good explanation video, one question. in my rebuild kit is a black SECONDARY METERING PLATE GASKET Holley PART# 108-27-2, does it belong betwee the plate and the blue gasket?

    Very nice, going to attempt my first carb clean up next week. Would you know if it is possible to swap the needle and seat for an adjustable set on that exact carb? I have the exact same one

    Would an Ultrasonic Cleaner bath with Simple Green clean a Holley carb without disassembling it?

    I installed a new fuel pump(carte P4389...) on my engine, PCM 5.7L, and when the pump primed, the carburetor was flooding badly(engine not yet running), guess the pumps pressure regulator was possible faulty, pushing way to much pressure. Wonder what parts might hav been damaged in the carburetor(Holley 4160)?

    Hey, question - My Holley 4160, 1850-2 series diagram shows a Metering Body Vent Baffle, but my carb doesn't have it. I've watched several videos of 4160 rebuilds, and I don't see this plastic Metering Body Vent Baffle secured by the blue gasket on the metering block. Any advice on this? It's not in the rebuild kit. I've already rebuilt this once, installed the carb, and then ran the engine. I am getting a leak in the back, but I'm not quite sure yet where or how. Anyway, I'm going through it again to see if I missed anything and I noticed the difference between having this vent baffle and the diagram of a 4160.

      I've got an 1850-5 and 80457 and neither carburetors had those vent baffles either. Both run just fine without them.

    Hi, I just took part my holly carb and when I pulled the metering plate off I had a metal plate sandwiched between two gaskets. Is that normal? I see yours didn’t

    Nice video quick question I didn’t have the white plastic piece on the front bowl what does that mean

    I have a question on this model carb....I tried a brand new Holley 4160 that was set up for my Chevrolet 4.3 V6 (OMC & Volvo used this carb after Rochester quit making Quadrajets). No matter what I did (tried all the suggestions made by the techs at Holley) it ran super rich, fouled plugs, etc. Finally in disgust I pulled off the Holley and took apart the 30 years old original Quadrajet (that I foolishly thought was too old to rebuild) and spend a few hrs with it cleaning it and putting in a good rebuild kit. Well it was 100% better, I have to say. But, it was still bothering me what the heck was wrong with that brand new Holley. I took it apart cleaned out all the passages, made sure the floats were adjusted right, checked the needle valves, etc. Then I noticed one thing on the secondary side....those clutch bolts...holding on the rear metering plate....were only finger tight...could that have allowed extra unmetered fuel to flow....causing the mixture to be way too rich? I put it back together and it's still sitting on a shelf in my garage....and BTW, have you checked their prices lately? Some of the 4160s are like up to $900 which is about 2x what I paid for this one about 5 years ago. Thoughts? could those loose clutch bolts have caused that rich running problem? I know that the Holley is designed to flow some fuel from the secondary side even when running on the primaries to keep the fuel in the secondary bowl from going bad, which is totally different from how a Quadrajet or Carter 4bbl works.

      @rydeyz312 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d question the jets. Seems the Holley’s jets may be too big for that engine.

    • @Luigi-pk8mk
      @Luigi-pk8mk ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rydeyz312
      Well here’s the thing. These carbs were different than the traditional Holley in that there is no power valve in the primary circuit as is typical but the main jets were made bigger to compensate. I never tried re-installing the Holley after finding the loose clutch bolts on the secondary metering plate. Still running my original Quadrajet.
      According to Holley this model # carb was specially calibrated for OMC & Volvo 4.3 V6 applications.

    I still have my 78 Ski Supreme and the Holley 4160 leaks out the 3/4" round disc?? on top of the float bowl near where the fuel comes in and the side disc on the secondary. Can I JB weld those? Open to suggestions
