  • In this lecture Design of Steel frame building with detailing is shown in detail
    Steel frame is typically consisting of vertical column and horizontal beams which are riveted, bolted or welded together in a rectilinear grid. Steel beams are horizontal structural members that resist loads applied laterally to their axis. Columns are vertical structural members that transfer compressive loads. It can be used to form the skeleton of a building.
    Steel beam
    A steel beam is a structural steel product that is made to support heavy loads like moments,shear etc.
    Steel Column
    A column is a general term and it means a structural member that is subjected to axial loads, bending moments and shear forces and is a vital part of any structure and supports it. If this column is made of steel (entirely, of steel, not just reinforced with steel bars) then it is called a steel column.
    Composite beam
    A structural member composed of two or more dissimilar materials joined together to act as a unit. An example in civil structures is the steel-concrete composite beam in which a steel wide-flange shape (I or W shape) is attached to a concrete floor slab using shear keys.
    Deck slab
    Deck slab is the part of structures which is constructed over the girders and filled with concrete in the presence of shear keys.

    Sir, do you have a tutorial to design a foundation of this steel structure? It seems that it's an open-ended design for me. I need to design also the foundation. What software better to use in the design of the foundation? Thanks a lot.

    I run more than 6 times with my model. it always shows "Analysis and design sections differ for 22 steel frame..."...how can I fixed it? add more sections in autobeam?

    sir why is it in 14:40 the section of beam is W250x38.5 then after you zoom out and in it has changed to W310x158.

    Thanks a lot! For steel frame design check, some beam members (A-Grav-Bm, auto select list) fail. What should we do in this case?

      Make the new list with different sections of high strength and stiffness

    can you explain difference between end shear and shear force ...because i designed a model of steel building in STAADPRO as well as ETABS ...During analysis stage the Shear force is depicted pictorially ...in both software but once the design is done in Etabs in reports i observed end shear value ...now I am confused which value shall I use to design the connection ......Can you elaborate on this....

      Normally at the ends of Staircase and at the landings.

    Where are Those Notional Loads? Stability Design Checks, Analysis Procedure For Second Order effects( P-Delta. P-delta). Load Combinations must be Modified. Check whether the Lateral load combinations must have notional loads or not? Read Chapter C of AISC 2010 and Please Make Tutorial then?
