- In this lecture Design of Steel frame building with detailing is shown in detail
Steel frame is typically consisting of vertical column and horizontal beams which are riveted, bolted or welded together in a rectilinear grid. Steel beams are horizontal structural members that resist loads applied laterally to their axis. Columns are vertical structural members that transfer compressive loads. It can be used to form the skeleton of a building.
Steel beam
A steel beam is a structural steel product that is made to support heavy loads like moments,shear etc.
Steel Column
A column is a general term and it means a structural member that is subjected to axial loads, bending moments and shear forces and is a vital part of any structure and supports it. If this column is made of steel (entirely, of steel, not just reinforced with steel bars) then it is called a steel column.
Composite beam
A structural member composed of two or more dissimilar materials joined together to act as a unit. An example in civil structures is the steel-concrete composite beam in which a steel wide-flange shape (I or W shape) is attached to a concrete floor slab using shear keys.
Deck slab
Deck slab is the part of structures which is constructed over the girders and filled with concrete in the presence of shear keys.

This "steel connections" section only available in Etabs ver 16
How to design column to rafter??
By the way, 125mm weld is so huge. If you use fillet weld that is really huge.

Connection features is only present in ETABS 2016 version
Now we finished the design of Steel Structure building my question is How we can design now the foundation of it? Can we continue the design of the foundation with ETABS?

Assalam o alaikum. Brother . I have Etabs 16.2.0 and after analysis and design i started steel connectn design and when it had cmpleted. Software is not showing any result ? Do u guess whats the problem ?

Why did CSI remove connection design in etabs later versions?
Connection Design is only available as per American code in ETABS?
Before the run, how to we decide the size of the bolt. the connetcion type, etc.? By trial and error or there should be done a calculation before working with the software?
In the preferrences... You can select strength and size...
2nd after running connection design...

It is available only in ETABS 16 Only

Sir , i have done steel building analysis using IS CODE, BUT WHILE DESIGNING CONNECTION I HAVE USED AISC CODE, BUT THE DESIGN DOESN'T GIVE THE CONNECTION RESULTS..
Most of the steel connection designing software don't have provision for Indian Standards !! Except for Ideastatica version 20.
