Also, GRADING! I teach reading and students do lots of lengthy structured answers, so an iPad allows me to grade it just like I was writing directly on their Google doc or good slides. The Google classroom app lets you put an ink layer over the document, and saves the graded work as a pdf. When you’ve finished grading and marking the pages, It attaches the entire thing as a pdf right to the assignment your grading on GC. It’s just like grading with paper, and love the freedom to use editing marks and it lets me write comments directly on the document rather than depending on students to look over an attached rubric for details. Love it!
OK, I'm convinced. I've always been old school, paper and pen for most of this stuff, but the organizational aspect of using your iPad for all of this is undeniable. Thank you!!!!!
I got an iPad last Christmas and it's been a game changer! I take attendance, check in my lms, run class dojo, look at my digital planner (it's awesome! Thanks Michelle) and can quickly check my email without sitting at my desktop. 👏🏾 The possibilities are endless!
My favorite way to use my iPad Pro is to load PDFs of whatever text we’re reading to GoodNotes so I can put my guided questions, notes, answers, etc into the Marlins. It’s easier to hold my iPad then the novel, textbook or even several sheets of paper. As we read, I have all the things I need right there on the document.
I know this is an older video but I just need to tell you how much I appreciate you and Bridget! I am an elementary school teacher who has greatly benefitted from your technology videos. I'm heartbroken about Jamboard shutting down, as it has been my daily lesson board/slides since 2020. I'm going to search your other videos to try to find an alternative so I can plan over the upcoming summer. Sending you and Bridget so many thanks for the work you both do to help teachers! 🥰
This is an amazing video. The ipad and pencil have been life savers during remote teaching last year and I still use them this school year. Thank you for these incredible tips!
I love using my iPad in the classroom. The teachers at my school use a program called air server. It allows me to project my iPad on any computer and thus on the board for my students to see.
As a 4th grade teacher trying to walking around the class and show my work at the same time, I am excited to try the Jamboard to project on the screen. I use a doc cam bc I like these new ways to use the iPad. I've been trying to plan my lesson on a planner but it hasn't work, and I think this is my sign to use a digital planner!! Thank you!!
TY for this. I now have an iPad and have been trying to use it more in my classroom. These tips are great and I will put some of them into use on Monday. One thing I do use the iPad for is assessments and viewing my slides from the students view.
I was really thinking of getting an iPad or tablet - you've made it so much easier to make the decision. I love the idea of walking around the room and annotating on your room while students can see it on the board - this would help manage behaviour problems as well which tend to happen when I'm tied to the front of the room for majority of the day
I love how you explained these useful ways of using the iPad! Really obsessed with your iPad case! Thank you for sharing these ideas! I definitely agree the iPad is a game changer for my teaching and classroom productivity.
My Sunday morning routine. Watch the new Pocketful of Primary video while I eat my breakfast! Another great video. Thank you so much. I can't wait for Vlogmas!
Thank for another great video. I teach virtually -reading interventions one-on--one. I use my iPad on Zoom share my screen. I put the book we are reading on the iPad. It allows me to enlarge text. I also use split screen with Good Notes so I can write words we are working on and then we can read them in the text.
I am not an Apple person, but I do have a chromebook with a touchscreen that I can fold in half and use like a tablet. I think many of these tips could be used on my chromebook too. (I already use it for running Nearpod.)
I have an iPad mini. I think I will need to start using it more for student anecdotal note taking. I use it a lot for meetings, but not as much directly in the classroom. Thanks for a great video and Happy Thanksgiving!
For some reason it never occured to me that I could project the slides (or whatever) on the board from the regular computer and use my iPad to annotate or show work. Such a genius idea! I will definitely have to remember that.
I just bought my iPad last year to use the digital planner and love it! Thank you for thr additional ideas. The student data form you showed in the video, is that available for us? I would love to start keeping my student data on my iPad.
I also can’t connect my iPad to a projector, so my work around is to start Zoom from my work computer and join on my iPad and screen share my iPad screen. I can also record the lesson through Zoom. It’s worked great!
the local district in my area uses them, but it just mostly gets used to put digitized worksheets on it. They were never trained to use it as much as it could be.
I got a iPad Air last year and love it but only knew a handful of things I could use for school wise. Been slowly using it more and more! This video was Great and had some excellent suggestions!
I never use my iPad bc I hate writing or typing and prefer paper/pencil. We plan as a team, using Planbook so I wouldn’t need a digital planner, but I do like the idea of being able to notate and work through problems on the screen in real time with my students. The digital note taking of student data also seems helpful. I just need to get into a habit of picking my iPad up and actually using it. Great tips!
Michelle, I love so many things that you teach, but please can you tell me where you got the cabinet with the drawers, the tall one behind you as you video? I love it. It would be a great place for me to put some things. I will keep looking, but hopefully you could let me know. Or, if anyone else on here knows that would be great. Thank you soooo much! I am a veteran teacher of many years and you have taught me so many things.
If you have an iPad and have a newer smart board you can wirelessly connect it and then move the iPad around the room and still handwrite,no school pc or Mac required
I am so happy I came across with your channel! I am an elementary teacher and I would love to use my I-Pad Pro and I-pencil more to simplify the workload that I have. I was wondering if there is a way to take a picture of the writing responses and then convert it into a pdf so I can then make annotations to grade. I have checked other videos in such matter but it requires an app that is costly. Any ideas? Thanks!
Couldn’t you paste the picture into Good Notes for making annotations? I think I’ve seen that mentioned in several videos, although I just use Adobe to convert pictures to PDFs. I don’t love the price point of Adobe, but they do offer discounts for students and educators (including homeschoolers).
This is the perfect tech tip video! Thank so for the helpful information Michelle! I’m definitely sharing this with my teacher friends! Running my own tutoring side hustle over the past two years, my iPad has been a game changer! I can digitally plan approaches (knowing where districts are in their instruction), I can model problems inside GoodNotes! I don’t data track because I want students to feel open to discuss any issues they have, but I do take detailed notes to help improve my tutoring!
I’ve been using my iPad for 3 years now to teach math. I have an Apple Pencil however I don’t use it at school because it’s too expensive. I bought a cheap one from Amazon and it works just as good. If I lose it I won’t be too heart broken.
Thanks Michelle! I've got an idea to work on now! I have two questions for you, what's an Anchor chart? (Growing up when I was in school, we never heard the term Anchor chart) Do you have a video about making a digital anchor chart?
I join myself in a google meet on my laptop and ipad, then just screenshare my ipad screen. This allows me to create/model note making in Goodnotes and then upload the final pdf file onto our class webpage. You do not need to buy screen mirroring programs/apple devices (which werent as good as I hoped) so long as you have a wifi connection to be on google meets :)
Btw the difference between the gen 1 pencil and the gen 2 in case anyone doesn’t know. The first gen works with any iPad with a lighting ports. The second gen Apple Pencil works with any ipad with usb-c minus the 10th gen ipad. It connects with magnets. The second gen also costs 30 more dollars then the first gen.
Hello here ! This is extremelly useful, thank you for sharing! If you are thinking about a video about what kind of app would be useful for teaching, please share it with Us! ❤
I haven’t used GoodNotes, but have the app. I’m familiar with Notability. Does it matter or should I used a digital planner in GoodNotes because it’s best?
I know this is off topic but I can’t find an email address to send my question. Which video is it that you talk about think marks? I was binge watching you the other day but didn’t note which video I was watching. Thanks for your help.
Hi, I have a Google Doc that I print out to take note of my students. Is there a way that I can make it into a template where I can use a stylus and make digital notes
Older ipads don't update, or connect to Google classroom. I have an old district ipad but can't use it because it won't update. I bought a Samsung tablet (which I love) but have trouble saving the digital planner to the Google drive because the file is so big in Xodo. Next year I might try the Google slides version instead so I can access it from anywhere. I like the planner, but have to work out the compatibility issues.
Heads up note I found out the hard way: not all Androids connect to HDMI, even with the right adapter. Before you buy, insist that the sales person do an in-store trial connection to a computer on display
Also, GRADING! I teach reading and students do lots of lengthy structured answers, so an iPad allows me to grade it just like I was writing directly on their Google doc or good slides. Now I just need an iPad…
lol! this made me crack up 🤣
I got an iPad last Christmas and it's been a game changer! I take attendance, check in my lms, run class dojo, look at my digital planner (it's awesome! Thanks Michelle) and can quickly check my email without sitting at my desktop. 👏🏾 The possibilities are endless!
I needed this. I’m a new TA and I have been brining my iPad in everyday to try and use it more. This will help a lot. Thank you !

Perfect timing! I’ve been trying to figure out which ipad to buy and how I can best use it as a teacher ☺️ TY!
Guess I’ll be putting my iPad to good use when I student teach next semester! Thanks Michelle!

Very helpful, a compatible online whiteboard combined with IPAD gives an amazing results ...
🍀
I love using my IPad for college! Also pretty shirt and nice organized background!! (like always :) )

This was incredibly informative. Good place to start off from.
Thanks a bunch.

Woooow I remember when you were my teacher!! You were the best teacher!
Will you be releasing a 2022-2023 calendar? I'm in the mode to start getting ready for next year and would love to use yours!
You could do a calendar with Numbers, just choose the month and export it as PDF.
I also can’t connect my iPad to a projector, so my work around is to start Zoom from my work computer and join on my iPad and screen share my iPad screen. I can also record the lesson through Zoom. It’s worked great!
You’ve probably figured it out already but use a dongle with an HDMI port to connect directly to the projector or Promethean Board.
Great video. I have the iPad air 4 and it's amazing! Can't wait to try some of these ideas out on it.
its essential for providing feedback.. i love using noteshelf 😊😊
very helpful. new ipad user. thank you!
the local district in my area uses them, but it just mostly gets used to put digitized worksheets on it. They were never trained to use it as much as it could be.
This was literally right on time!
Thanks for all of your expertise!

Looks like the Alex drawer units from Ikea.
@@theredemu Thank you! That is exactly what I was looking for.

If you release a new planner, could you do one from September-August for us UK girlies who don't start summer holidays until the end of July?

Could you please add in a Jan to Dec planner?
Our January to December planners release November 1st!
I have an iPad and use it so much more with your lesson planner!
I love this video so much. Thanks!
I’ve been using my iPad for 3 years now to teach math. I have an Apple Pencil however I don’t use it at school because it’s too expensive. I bought a cheap one from Amazon and it works just as good. If I lose it I won’t be too heart broken.
The office clips 😂 that’s how I feel learning all this. Just like the first clip
So helpful yet again!
Hello 👋
Can you guide us how to write daily lesson plan?
Thanks Michelle! I've got an idea to work on now! I have two questions for you, what's an Anchor chart? (Growing up when I was in school, we never heard the term Anchor chart) Do you have a video about making a digital anchor chart?
This video is fire! 🎇🎇 Thank you so much!
What software application do you use to design your lesson planning templates?
Is your planner for secondary teachers too? I’m interested.
I love that student data sheet. Is that in your TPT?
How do you use your Apple Pencil to write on your Google slides teacher planner? I just got my Apple Pencil but not able to write on Google slide
Where did you get that white storage drawer behind you?
I’m a music teacher, and I use my iPad for sheet music and recordings!
I just need to be a teacher now
I have an iPad propert you helped me so much.
Could you please do Symbaloo for your next video?
When you were using jamboard to model were you mirroring your computer and iPad or was your computer plugged into some type of projector
Btw the difference between the gen 1 pencil and the gen 2 in case anyone doesn’t know. The first gen works with any iPad with a lighting ports. Awesome presentation :)

Tqvm for information.terbaik(very Good)
Enjoyed this! Thanks for sharing! I would love to see a “day in my life” episode now that you are not teaching.
I know this is off topic but I can’t find an email address to send my question. Which video is it that you talk about think marks? I was binge watching you the other day but didn’t note which video I was watching. Thanks for your help.
Which ipad would you recommend? I teach remotely from home. Thanks!
Where did you get the black holder for your pencil?
I love your glasses
Hi, I have a Google Doc that I print out to take note of my students. Is there a way that I can make it into a template where I can use a stylus and make digital notes
Very good for my wife(teacher secondary School) from Malaysia
Just curious, do you plan under your personal email? Just in case you switch schools? Or do you edit under your school email?
Came for cotton and found gold!
I opened the free planner in GoodNotes and notability and I am unable to type or write in it. I only can see the plan
Older ipads don't update, or connect to Google classroom. I have an old district ipad but can't use it because it won't update. How can you use your ipad with the smart board?
Good for smartschool
