After years of reading on my iPads, I switched 2 years ago to a simple Kindle Paperwhite. I love it, it is much gentler with my eyes, which is good because I can read for hours. I also find it way easier to hold, as the iPad is a lot bigger and heavier.
my life hack of the week: I use my ipad air with an origami style folio case and I just learned that when I‘m in the kitchen, I can just stick the ipad to the door of my fridge. The magnets are absolutely strong enough for the door, it doesn‘t stick to the side though. But if you use this type of case, give it a try, it‘s been a game changer the past couple of days
I went from an iPad Pro 12.9 to a mini and I’m in love! The mini is so convenient and goes everywhere with me. For reading, my kindle paperwhite is kinder on my 👀
I have a Kindle Scribe as well as a Paperwhite. I enjoy the Scribe way more than I anticipated especially since I like making notes on books when I read. The paperwhite fits right in a bag for trips. Battery life is amazing. I have an M2 iPad Pro 11” rn for all my digital planning needs (and let’s be honest, any other thing in life). It gets a lot of use and I love it. Had to downsize from the 12.9” because that thing was huge.
I have two iPads too - iPad Pro and iPad Mini. And I have a Kindle - I totally prefer reading on my Kindle than my iPad Mini. It’s so much better on my eyes and I feel like I am less fatigued!
I would highly recommend using an actual kindle for reading. I find that it is gentler on my eyes plus there is no distractions as it is solely for reading.
ipad has a focus feature you can set up to force you to get off, or force ONLY reading time or any chores you need done. And you can bring the brightness way down along with nightmode, and making the screen yellow which helps eye strain ;)
too expensive to buy both ipad and kindle. If you are only buying it for reading then go for kindle I guess but if you are doing writing, notes and assignments too then ipad
I have two iPads (Air 5 and Mini 6), and I use them both for different things! I do a lot of work on the Air, and media consumption on the Mini. But I also have a Kindle Paperwhite for reading. I tend to read on the Kindle the most in the evening or when I'm outside, but I'll switch to the Kindle app on whatever I'm carrying. I can make a use case for all of them!
How do you balance screen time guilt with productivity and entertainment? Between work, journaling, and entertainment, I could be on my iPad literally all day. How do you handle either the guilt or the health factors of it?
I only have a mini and love it ! It’s a little small for the planning . I had an original iPad Pro that I used a lot at first then then never touched it. When I decided I wanted an iPad again I couldn’t decide and went with the mini. I have a kindle paper white for reading and it is so awesome. I had an oasis which was ok but gave that away and got the paper white
Now, I only use an iPad 10. I put my desktops in storage along with my laptop. Everything I do can be done on an iPad and keyboard case. My accessories include a micro SD card reader and Logitech stylus. I also use Procreate. The app replaced all other graphics apps. I switched from Office to Pages, Keynote and Numbers. I have lost nothing and I am just as productive. The iPad has made my life easier and everything I need to do gets done. Great video, keep going.
Hey! Hi.. I just wanted to ask you.. as you’re work on ipad don’t you get neck pain by drawing on it. Like you said you use procreate. I’ve been using procreate since sometime but I get tremendous neck pain by constant using. What do you do to avoid the pain? Coz putting on stand and using procreate isn’t convenient at all.
I also use two iPads. I have the iPad Air that I mostly use for grad school work and occasionally in my job and the iPad Mini that I use for digital organization and just like you, for reading. I also felt it was redundant to have a Kindle and an iPad and I actually love reading and consuming video content on my mini.
I would be interested in…. do you use a laptop as well? With your business does the laptop play a significant role? Are you creating the digital journals on your laptop/desktop or are those created on the iPad? Well done video, very enjoyable and informative!
On my business channel (I don’t want to self promote, so I’m not sharing it here), I did a video showing you can create a fully-featured planner from the iPad Mini. Using the Mini because it’s the least “powerful” in the lineup, and even it can do it. There are some frustrating differences between Keynote for MacOS and Keynote for iPadOS that will make it faster & easier to do on a computer (primarily, page linking) - but it’s all completely doable from the iPad family. But depending on which iPad you have, you can expect things to start to slow down once you hit the ~250 page mark or so, because the file starts getting so large. That’s where it started to strain on the Mini. The M1 never blinks an eye. Because my brand is built around replacing computers with tablets (for personal life - so you can spend more time off the leash of a power cord), I create all my products on iPads. I won’t lie, though… it does take longer.
this made me want an ipad. i have a ipad mini (second gen i think) but rarely use it unfortunately - especially now since i can't get any newer updates. however watching this video i could see myself looking into the ipad market again & actually using it for a more productive, organization; creative purpose. now comes the question should i go back mini, or get a bigger boy ipad
I have 2 of them too but one mini and one is the 9th generation. I use 9th generation mostly for home use and note taking on good notes. Mini is more for journaling, reading or planning 💜 I like my kindle too but sometimes I’ll go back and forth depending on what I’m doing.
i currenlty use my ipad mini to take note and read. i already had a ton of books that i bought on the book app and i felt like it was just easier for me to get an iPad over a kindle. I've set it up to when i'm reading at night that the screen get more of a warmer tone and i haven't had any issues with it.
I have a 2018 11” Pro and an M2 12.9” Pro - I was close to getting rid of my 11” but now that it’s older I find it the perfect device to take on a holiday or other trip where I may need access to a computer. With it being older now I’m less cautious about it being damaged or lost compared to the M2 Pro, so it’s a nice device to keep around. Considering they are barely worth anything used anymore it’s probably worth just keeping it
I do not have an iPad, but I would recommend you to use the kindle to read. It helps me to just read and do not get interrupted by social media notifications or something else.
