Toyota is the king of the blank "poverty buttons". This has to be some kind of record. I checked out a fully loaded TRD OR and it still had blank buttons (not counting the aux ones). Maybe you need to step up to a pro or trail hunter to get rid of them all. Sure other manufacturers use different trim peices for different trims, or combine buttons in the same space, but Toyota really wants you remind you every time you drive that you're a poor piece of shit after dropping $50k on a midsized truck
Pretty disappointed in these new toyota trucks. Tundra issues, dumb cargo space in the Sequoia, overpriced land cruiser, and this new Tacoma is just so meh. Guess we'll see what happens with the updated 4runner.
Plus don't forget, this new Tacoma has a VERY weak front diff. if you do ANY offroading be very aware that the front diff is practically made of glass with how easily it breaks.
I love how the front air dam is 2" from the ground so it can be used as a snow shovel to plow your driveway.😆 Who came up with that great idea? Nice truck but that would be the first thing I'd remove. Just looks stupid & might save you 1 mpg.
@@GPG7754 funny I've seen a few of those in the back. So curious why it isnt enough. I get it if you're a family of 6 footer+'s but average height adults can fit in back fine (especially if for shorter periods of time like sub 2-3 hour trips etc).
Trucks way too small for a growing young family. You'd have to be a real taco fan to want one. Id honestly get a Tundra or a 4Runner for family space especially if you got kids
I think Toyota did a great job. I do wish they offered 1K more in towing capacity, but otherwise I’m sure they will be great. I would likely hold out for the Trail Hunter (which you didn’t mention!) because it’s the TRD Pro Off-Road for people who aren’t running in the desert and is really more of a “Rubicon” vs a “Mojave” to put it in Jeep vernacular.
Like Evie said, I hate when manufacturers make a ton of really obvious "poverty blanks". At least cover it with a single plate that just says "TOYOTA" on it or something to hide the fact its missing a lot of options, that's what Nissan did on my Rogue on top of where all the blank buttons would have been.
I don't know that I would definitively say that the Ridgeline is an overall "better midsize", because there are some things the Tacoma does better. However if the question is "is it a better midsize truck to accommodate a family?" then absolutely I think the Ridgeline is much better due to the increased interior space and storage space both under the seat and in the bed.
I’ve towed boat and utility trailers for several decades. In my experience, No, a unibody truck based on a front drive biased architecture doesn’t work as well as a ‘truck’ as the body on frame rear drive biased competitors, like this pricy Taco. But yes, the Ridgeline does a great job on the street as a family commuter compared to the rest.
@@theoutdoordad7395 a bed is one of the key defining features which makes a pickup. I dont think the chassis or frame situation have much bearing other than for traditionalists stuck in the past.
I like the styling of the Tacoma, but that mileage is stupid. Not what a truck buyer really cares about, but I do. Plus I just saw the reveal of the little Rivian R3X and fell in love! Its everything anyone could need IMO. Probably won't even buy a vehicle until I can get that! Thanks Muzios!! Always a pleasure....and Lady Muzio's voice is delightuful. Haters be damned!
Not really a fan tbh. Yes Toyota builds decent vehicles...and yes it is an improvement on the last gen. But way too may compromises (visibility, Tonka truck janky style) when compared to the GM twims, mainly the canyon. Will be interesting to see how the new Ranger compares. TY Micah and fam for the content!
They could be used for that, but definitely not in this case. It’s a manufactures cheap way of eliminating options while also not adjusting the interior to match.
How hard is it to make different plastic molds so the trims that don't have those fancy features have the molds without those dummy buttons. It looks so cheap.
I love y’all’s reviews. Between: Micah’s almost talking too fast, but the annunciation and tone make it easy to hear, Evie’s slower and contrasting voice and the random “Hey child” flavor, the best family reviews. I love Evie’s voice BTW. Also, minor opportunity could be to include a 6’ ish male. I know Micah “has a long torso,” but I would love to see remaining back seat space and subjective driving position comfort.
Micah is the only TH-cam channel that does the rear window test. As a dog dad of two Golden Retrievers, I LOVE IT!
Reliability will be the question. Good luck with Toyotas built last 5 years
I'm just gonna tow my 5k lb boat across a couple states with my 4 cylinder turbo what could possibly go wrong.
No one really does the Tacoma review for a family....awesome insights Micah!
Not in the market for a car. But watch ur videos to support u ❤ u bro
you forgot to put "#nohomo" so Evie doesn't get jealous
The back seat is a joke…let’s be honest
Sweetie's voice sounds like a sweetie's voice and anyone who says mean things is a big meanie
We SO appreciate your kindness. Cheers!!
Seriously who complains about someone’s voice. Geez. Talk about petty.

@@TheFlooringInspector82 are you basing that on anything more than a single reported and documented incident?
It will be trash too. You know why? Because people still buy them over msrp for years after release and Toyota doesn’t care about feedback anymore.
Do you want the price and fuel economy of a fullsize truck with the interior size of a midsize truck? We have a Taco for you!
Toyota needs to make a smaller pick up truck like the Maverick
I heard they were. Called the Stout. At least I read that somewhere. I am pretty sure they will because the For Maverick has done so well.
justice for evie’s voice
Thanks for the review. Now i decided not to buy tacoma. Not for me
Great review!
I’m surprised for the trim level no power seat.
The interior is hideous. So is the dumb tablet glued to the dash.
Micah's kid cracks up! Picking their nose and prob wondering "what am I doing here?"

Watched your review on the convertible M440i and ended up buying one. May have to get one of these too once they are more readily available.
Great video.. I will definitely keep my 2021 TRD off-road.!!
Back seat space too small
How so?
@ALMX5DP not enough legroom. Less than old model even.

No it’s not big enough for a family. Barely big enough for me.
Best car review channel by far!!
Every new vehicle i see makes me hope my 2018 GX460 never dies..
it will never die
MUCHO DINERO 💰.
WITH ALL YOU WANT IT WILL COST A FORTUNE.
C4MM! Midsize truck prices are ridiculous
What's its approach angle with that plastic beard? 2 degrees?
This thing smokes everything else in the segment. Ranger was a huge disappointment. Frontier is still 10 years old. Colorado is a distant second.
Except for the lack of power, front diff made of glass, and less towing capability when compared to the GM midsize trucks.
Yeah, that front lip would have to be removed. It looks so awkward.
Happy belated birthday, Micah!
That price as tested looks a little off with the premium package.
ill pass on the 2024
The voice 😂. I thought that I was the only one so I said nothing. Anyways. Hats off to you!
I don't get what is wrong with her voice? Is that an inside joke I missed?
The blue accents are sharp, i hear it drives better and has better torque
Driver's seat... "Take a run at it and leap!" Lmao!

pretty cool how much plastic they can make these vehicles out of these days. lol. whatever cuts cost for Toyota!
Bulbus, a bulb-shaped anatomical structure, including: an archaic term for the medulla oblongata...
Sounds good to me.
Ridgeline is a better midsize. More usable bed, more usable back seat, has a smooth V6, can tow 5000 lbs, drives better and yes, it's a truck.

As long as you don't take it offroad because the front end fails lol
They should make a hybrid version with better mpg for city dwellers or distance overlanders.
Hey man, how tall are you? maybe I missed it...
5' 10" with a long torso!!
Are you guys gonna do a video on the new Ford Ranger and the Nissan Frontier Hardbody?
Overpriced
No.

Excellent review!😸
Thank you for watching and commenting!! 😻
Humor in the review is fantastic
Just subbed
More small and mid size truck reviews please! These are super helpful 😊
Awesome video. Haven't seen any videos from you guys before but seeing the video really helped me decide if the Tacoma was for me.
Glad we could help!
I priced out a SR5 and it was $45K, ridiculous!
Me gusta toyota tacoma para la familia
Glad to see you were able to finish the review without it breaking down.
Aw, c'mon...your voice is fine:)! Great review as always...
Appreciate your support! 🎉
The answer is not really. At almost $50k, uh, I dunno man....
To bad for the real axle

Smoke screen, oil slick 😂 Taco Sunday
The Honda Ridgeline is more of a direct competitor than the Santa Cruz.
Only fault I give Toyota is with pricing, otherwise this is a perfect truck with the Chevy Colorado

This is the perfect review for this truck for me anyways as I am very much in the market for one with a small family of 4!
Nothing wrong with her voice she sounds very nice. Great review, thanks!
I'm so confused. So are regular trucks normal size and older trucks giant models now? (Ex. Rams) 😂
Wireless CarPlay and android auto are standard

Those empty buttons are for after market accessories like lights, etc.
It only has like 2 accessory buttons. The rest are missing features that this didn’t come with like rear locker, sway bar disconnect….

no one is buying this as a family hauler. So do a realistic review and ditch the winey chick. Its a Tacoma for crying out loud.
