This was super helpful! I ran into this video looking for information on optimizing settings on this camera, and I never knew they had much newer firmware available- they have version 3 out now, and the camera I've borrowed from my university was still on V1. Thanks!

Thank you so much. You helped me update my JVC GY-HM250 just by following your instructions. I couldn't find any video on how to update it but I picked the hints from yours since the jvc gy 200-250 look identical.

Thank you for that description; you made my day! As it seems, not even JVC supports you with the correct update procedure anymore. Besides, my camera model is GY-HM250e, where it worked as well. Thx 👍

Can you have it so the camera doesn't slow down automatically so we manually slow it down in post? I rather have the control over it

I have been struggling with the firmware update, because nowhere is it mentioned that you shouldn't have an SD card in slot A. I managed to update the firmware, but I have a hard time making it work. I am not a professional (obviously), what resources can I use to learn how to operate this camera?

    Bonjour,

I just got 2 of these cameras 2 days a go - so i take it this Firmware upgrade will sort my problem?
I have problems recording to the SD cards on brand new JVC HM200E:
Sd card is in slot A and i get the message: "Rec Inhibited" on all my new cards!
All there is a exclamation mark next to the Card slot letter A!
Card seems to format ok and Card lock is off and I'm using Sandisk Extreme Pro 32 gb 95 MB/s brand new cards class 10 - the 10 is in a circle on the card!

+allister gourlay Try the firmware update. You sometimes find that 4K needs a 64gb or higher card with SDXC technology. So that might be it. I'm not sure with these JVC cameras though I'm afraid.

How good is the auto focus on this camera? Will it focus fast if I use it on a steadycam?

    • @ProAVTV
      @ProAVTV  7 ปีที่แล้ว

I'd say the autofocus is average, should work well.

      Hi Claudio
We recommend the SWIT S-8823 battery for the HM170

Good morning I use the battery "original battrry date and the swit that you mentioned, but the switch lasts 1:00 hs.
I bought it because it would be long lasting but it is not.

As far as I can tell, it's the same size sensor as in a smart phone but with less clever processing. You're getting a lot of professional features with the camcorder but the image quality doesn't seem to be one of them.
