Well done on your first Vlog- that’s me just subscribed ❤ just watch the background noise, I know it’s your dog, ❤ Best investment is a wee microphone that is Bluetooth to help try and minimise that sound working over your voice. Got mine from Amazon under £25 and I’ll never look back, such a game changer! Love hearing about your makes and plans. Interesting to hear about the instructions on that skirt, so annoying aswell.
Lovely to meet you Ruth and Frank! Love your toaster top, I will take a look at that pattern! I am like you, love the vlogs and have my favourites I watch each month and will be adding you to that list. Good luck and thanks for sharing ❤
🎉 Hooray for taking the leap! I also love watching others, both new and experienced (particularly when I am doing my own thing!). Best wishes for having fun with your projects.
Really enjoyed that Ruth! You are a natural and I love your makes, especially the Bakerloo dress which I’m totally going to copy if it’s okay with you!!! 😍😂
Yayyy!! 🎉 Well done Ruth!! Fab vlog! I’m in love with your Bakerloo hack 😍. I definitely think you could pull off that FG fabric as a dress, perfect weight for this time of year too 👍🏼. Thank you so very much for the lovely kind words 🥲💖. Look forward to seeing you on Saturday 😊xxx
It’s always a pleasure to find a new sewing channel to watch. Well done you for taking the leap into vlogging. Lovely garments and looking forward to seeing the new makes. 🪡 🧵
Hi Ruth so glad I stumbled upon your video. You are a delight to listen to and watch and your style is similar to mine. Looking forward to binge watching your vlogs. Andrea x
Delightful listening to your lovely voice Ruth. I agree the light made it a bit difficult to see you in a couple of patches but I still enjoyed the vlog and look forward to many more. Congratulations on a great job.
Congratulations, Ruth. You are doing great. I love to listening to your sothing voice. So calm. Bring the sewing on. girl. Greetings and a thank you from Norway 😊👏🇳🇴🪡🧵
Well done Ruth a great first vlog ! I jointly share your problem with waistbands on skirts which are too short.....I fail to understand how the pattern designers let this happen ( my recent problem make was a New Look A line skirt ), so frustrating !, On a lighter note, I love your Fabric Godmother fabric and feel you should take the plunge and create a fabulous dress. I am looking forward to your next vlog.
Well done on your first vlog, you did very well. Your Bakerloo dress is lovely and it was great hearing about your outing and plans. I’m looking forward to your next episode.
Congratulations on your very first vlog Ruth! 🎉 It was so lovely to listen to and get to know you and I look forward to your future videos. Much love, Victoria ❤ xx
Lovely gentle first vlog Ruth, thank you, I’ve been vlogging on my little quirky channel for 3 years now, and still so understand that nervousness I felt in my first few videos. I watched so many Justin Brown’s Primal Video vlogs to help me understand the techno and editing side of it. Your makes are lovely, and the Bakerloo is gorgeous - I’d had a similar idea after I toiled the top a few months ago because I didn’t fancy a gathered skirt either, but I’d just not got back to it, but now you’ve inspired me to pick it up again 😊, looking forward to your next vlog, Susan x
Hi Susan, thank you so much for the tips, i'll be sure to check those out 🥰 Also hopping over to your channel now, look forward to seeing your Bakerloo soon x
🎉🎉🎉Fantastic vlog, Ruth. I really enjoyed hearing about your makes. You have inspired me to add the Bakerloo blouse to my list! I love the fabrics you got from the show and I look forward to hearing what you sew next! ❤❤❤ x
Fantastic 1 st vlog, you looked and sounded very relaxed. I hope you keep blogging.I’m in Australia and I’m so jealous of you ladies you have some really lovely fabric places at good prices; and all the sewing socials and craft and sewing shows Happy sewing
Hello Ruth, look at you on TH-cam with your 1st vlog absolutely fabulous! You sound and look as though you have been doing this for years! Love your outfits and sewing plans. See you on Saturday. Happy sewing 🧵 xx
Gday Ruth. Wonderful 1st video, yay, I have subscribed 😀Lovely fabrics you have there 🤩Looking forward to all your others videos. Thanku 'sew' much for sharing 🪡✂🧵🙂x
Hellooo 👋 Lovely first vlog Ruth, I really enjoyed it. Very interesting to hear your plans and your Bakerloo is beautiful. I’ve subscribed and look forward to your next vlog x
Excellent job on your first vlog. I really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to seeing more of them. Your Bakerloo dress is gorgeous, especially in that red fabric! I absolutely love it! That is definitely what I would have done to make it into a dress. The gathered skirts don't look great on me. I look much better in a shift dress style like that, and it's so easy to do, just extending the bottom of the blouse to dress length. I haven't really wanted to make the Bakerloo because it would probably look too 19th century on me. Somehow that style looks like I'm trying to go to a fancy dress party dressed as a pioneer, but with a shift style, maybe I could get away with it. I always think the collar looks pretty on everyone else. Having it all one fabric like you did would probably help too.
I know exactly what you mean about the 19th century look but I think changing it to an A line shape and having a sleeker sleeve really helps to tone that down. You should absolutely give it a go, I'd love to see it 🥰
Love your blog! Refreshing to have new face. Like you I bought fabric godmother viscose twill, so interested to see your make as I'm wanting inspiration.
Hi Ruth.. So looking forward to watching your sewing journey and thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to chat to us. We need people like you while we sew 😂
You’re off to a great start, congrats 🎉. I have had the tricky short waistband issue myself with other patterns. I have started just cutting out an extra long waistband for everything because it’s easier to cut off the extra than have to cut another. I also write on the pattern piece to add extra especially with neckbands.
So so wonderful to see your fabulous first vlog. You’re a natural and it’s so lovely to hear all about your sewing. I love your Bakerloo hack and will be copying that entirely!! ❤
Congratulations on your first vlog, loved it. Your bakerloo dress is amazing, I thought I recognised your dress on Minerva. I love an A line skirt and have made the Nina Lee Camden a couple of times. It has patch pockets but they could be left off and the zip goes to the top of the waistband.
What a fab first vlog 🎉. I've had the same thing with the waistband on the Ava skirt, really should unlock mine but at the moment I hide it with long tops 😅. The bakerloo dress looks so good 😊
Lovely relaxed style of vlog …. Have added you to my subscribed list of people I like to watch …. Really like your Bakerloo hack, much prefer it to the original …. Also love a pet plodding about and making an appearance
Congrats on your new vlog adventure. A couple things, there is too much light coming in the window behind you making you show up very dark in the video. Sometimes the volume seemed to go low, maybe some adjustment there. Happy Sewing!!
Nice first blog. I think that skirt could easily be a beginners second or third project. In the beginning, a beginner should aim to learn a new skill with each project. It’s the only way to quit being a beginner!🤣 As for the waistband- measure the skirt top, your waist, determine the amount of ease you want, seam allowance and you have the length you need. Look at the directions for various waistband installations and use the one that makes sense to your brain. You don’t have to do it the way the pattern “suggests”. Nice makes.
I really enjoyed your first vlog! I would say that the fault is with the Ava skirt pattern rather than you but if you like the rest of the skirt then you could just extend the waistband for next time.

She can make a larger size that is noww baggy in the hips amd fits in the waist or figure out how to adjust the waist (if she sews) or throw out her $20 pattern, her second $20 pattern that didn't fit either along with her expensive fabric and vow to never sew again When I was in my 20s I had a 25 inch waist. When my skinny tiny waisted daughter was in her 20s, hers was 28 inches female waists are becoming larger and less defined waists but designers are still designing for tiny waists or models who are half starved So women turn to elastic waists, which is an optio. Thank you so much Jeni 🥰 I have just posted my new vlog with a different camera angle so hoping the light is improved this time 🤞 x
Well done. I find that the waistband patterns are too short as well, 😂. I like the idea regarding the invisible zip, something to remember.
Thank you, yes I will definitely give that a go next time 🥰
You should absolutely drape yourself from head to toe in that last fabric! It's stunning ❤❤❤
Thanks sis, I’m not sure yet so watch this space. Might have to tie it around me like a toga for a bit and see what I think 😂 x
Congratulations, Ruth. You are doing great. I love to listening to your sothing voice. So calm.

Great first vlog. That fabric in the Bakerloo is gorgeous. Look forward to seeing what you decide to make with that last fabric, it's stunning.❤
Thank you so much 🥰 I've not quite decided what to make with it yet but I think I might be leaning towards a dress x
Hi Ruth, a fab first vlog!!! I love your bakerloo I think extending the top into an A-line dress works beautifully. Xxx
Thank you Claire, I cant take the credit but I do love the outcome 🥰

Thank you so much 🥰 I'm hearing lots of people say they had the same issue with the short waistband so you are probably right x
That sounds like a serious flaw in the pattern to come up with a waistband that short!
xXX👍👍👍
Good luck with your channel. Unfortunately as you are quietly spoken, Frank tends to dominate the sound.
Thank you for the feedback, I will try to improve the sound on the next one 🥰
