- This instructional video is a Part 2 to our first one, 'Propagating Bamboo Using Cane Cuts' - • Propagating Bamboo Usi...
This new one shows the next step of the process - how we then plant these bamboo cane cuts 6 months later (after initially harvesting the cane cuts for propagation).
Please keep in mind that this process can only be done for certain species of clumping bamboo.

You are an excellent presenter - thank you.
Thanks!! 💛
I'm new to this but have been wanting to grow bamboo for a very long time. You're videos are helping me so much, thank you! I'm about to try and get some now I've found by a parking lot in a city near me. I've been trying to heal / help the soil at our new property and my well being and want it for privacy, listening to it, food, fencing / crafts and plain ol' beauty. Plus it will be a great addition to my back yard catio for cool shade for my furry dragons. Peace🕉️💜
Thanks for making part 2. Love your work! Question....we just came out of a drought in subtropical Qld, and my clumping bamboo died. Well, that's what I thought. We've just had some good rain and now my dead bamboo is going crazy and sprouting leaves everywhere! Is this a suitable timle to take cuttings? Thanks for your advice.
Awesome! We're glad to hear you're happy that we made this Part 2.
Whenever it is springtime is ideal for taking cane cuttings.
Love your vdo. How many day the roots will come from baby bamboo?
Thank you.
You have my dream job. Awesome!!! Where you located?? Would love to visit sometime.
Awesome! You should - we'd love that! We're in Sebastopol, CA, the north Bay Area.
A really good video, and I have watched all your videos twice now and looking forward to some new ones.
Do you use Gracilis there as its a popular Screen Bamboo in Australia. Cheers From Garry
Thank you so much! We just made a couple of new ones since this was posted.
Yes, we use Gracilis a lot. It is very popular.
Will Fargesia’s root from stem cuttings?
No, not well.
Just wondering how long was it from the cane cutting to when you potted them ? Also can this be done during winter to take cutting and plant them .
It was 6 months.
We're not sure about doing this in winter. We've never tried it. Might work in a heated greenhouse?...
great channel
Thanks so much! 😃
I have a question!!!! About 4 years ago I bought several 1 foot madake bamboo rhizomes they have really grown and spread and currently about an inch across. When will I see the diameter increase? I live in central Mississippi I'm hoping I wasn't sold some BS RIVER CANE! PLEASE HELP ME
It takes a while for the species to mature. 1 ft. sounds like a seedling. It'll take several years.
Mozart of bamboo 🎉
How many days it takes a shoot to come from a planted rhizome of multiplex- Alphonse karr ?
Depends on a lot of factors. Could be weeks, could be months...

Ever thought about giant gray bamboo
We have some, but that is a runner. You can't do cane cuts with it.
I have a nice patch and just made cuttings today. I didn’t know I couldn’t do it. It acts like a clump.
@@bamboosourcery how do I propagate grey bamboo? I’m in the mood to propagate.
Tre gì cũng ươm được à bác
We find that this method only works for clumpers.

Clumping bamboo only, not effective with bamboo that make rhizomes.😊
That's absolutely correct! (We do mention this.)
