In this video I'll be showing you how to set up the Eufy S380 HomeBase and integrate it with your existing Eufy security camera system. This new hombease gives you access to Eufy's advanced BionicMind AI features, and much more! Including the option to upgrade the storage from the built in 32gb to any size you want! Yes that's right; ANY SIZE HDD as long as its the 2.5in formfactor. In this video I also show you how to install/upgrade your storage by installing a Hard Drive in this HomeBase3. I purchased the 4 TB Samsung 870 QVO SSD, but you can get any 2.5" HDD that you would like and the installation process will be the same when upgrading your Home Base 3. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for your video…I had trouble connecting my new cameras to the new HomeBase and couldn’t find any help from Eufy online…watched this video and it was very easy!
So glad I could help!
Thank you for this, I am just about to start my Eufy camera setup for a new home build and your videos have been very helpful 👍
I'm so happy to hear that! I have a ton of Eufy videos, so I hope that they all come in handy.
Have fun building out your setup!
Likewise. I too had issues setting up the hard drive, and this walked me thru it! I really appreciate your help.
So happy that my video helped!
Excellent video. Thanks so much.
So happy to help
Appreciate the video. Doing the upgrade tomorrow. What’s the yellow and black radio in the background?
It's a Baofeng HAM radio I found hiking in the desert. I got a charger off ebay. I just listen to it scan sometimes.
Great video, I appreciate you taking the time to make it. I do have one for ya. The floodlights (e340) allow for continuous 24/7 recording to the HomeBase. What size hard drive would you recommend? I only have the floodlight and the doorbell. I could probably buy the 2TB Samsung qvo but not sure if that would fill up too quickly.
Eufy has a really efficient compression algorithm. 1 TB will likely last you 3-5 months.
The S380 HomeBase 3 comes with 16GB of built-in storage. If you want to expand the local storage, you can add an external hard drive with a serial ATA (SATA) interface, supporting capacities of up to 16TB. Popular brands like Western Digital, Seagate, SAMSUNG, Kingston, PNY, and Crucial are recommended. Just ensure that the hard drive meets the specified requirements, including a 2.5-inch size and a maximum power of 6W (5V/1.2A). After installation, you’ll find the expanded storage in the app under HomeBase > Storage Management > Storage > HD
That's what this video is all about
Great info. how about a 1TB WD blue SA510 drive. would that work? Also i am buying the Home base 3, E340 and solo S220 . After installing app what should i connect 1st? The home base 3?
As long as it's a 2.5in hdd it will work, and I'd set up the home base first, thatbway the s220 can connect to the homebase.
Thank you. I just got my new Homebase 3 with a couple of 4K cameras. I am upgrading from Homebase 2 with 2k cameras and a doorbell. Was your “old” Homebase still connected when you did the upgrade?
Yes. Unfortunately because my doorbell is older it only works with the homebase 2 so they're both still connected.
@@GrantButler Thanks. I was hoping to leave it connected until I see if everything works / connects to the HB3.
I will be back with questions I’m sure waiting for it to be delivered
I'll be here
Suggestion for future video's: (1) Connecting other camera's (like HikVision) and (2) how to setup recognition for those cams. I have seen a couple of video's now but I've not seen a web-interface. So more about the app please. And maybe: (3) how to download a section of a recording to send to the police. Is it easy, cause with Hikvision it is DRA-MA :) (that's why I'm switching).
I don't know if it does work with other brand cameras. And downloading videos can be done within the app. Then shared from there
Hi thnx for explaining. Two questions: we have a notification about a "USB for back-up" , is that required (we have a 380Gb HDD inside)?? And: it looks like nothing gets recorded on the HDD, how can we see the footage from it?? Ps:We have no camera installed yet, only a doorbell.
Is your doorbell using the HomeBase3? If it's one of the older doorbells they may not be compatible with the HomeBase3
Yes, Homebase 3 and doorbell bought in one package.
@@TheNvdvijver so I've started doing some investigating and I'm not totally sure, however I think that once the storage on your camera is full it will then send the older videos / overflow to the home base 3 storage
No way to transfer videos from doorbell to homebase? Just bought the homebase months after I bought the doorbell.
@scott-88 from what I'm learning, once the devices internal storage is full it will then transfer the overflow/old videos to the homebase
@GrantButler I was hoping to transfer all my existing videos and only use the homebase but seems you can't. Which is very odd. Never mind 😢
Be cautious on expanding the HD over 1tb, i have read numerous discussions on reddit with people having issues when expanding over 1 to 2tb max. I guess there are latency issues as well as corrupt data issues with some expanding to the bigger drives.
That's why I said stick to reputable brands, and even gave recommendations.
Yeah, That issue might be with the brand your right but, the other issues they are having doesn't matter what brand you use. I guess it's more of a issue with the homebase 3 port itself. More that a few have had to be sent back for replacement, great thing is I haven't seen one case where Euphy didn't replace them at no cost so that's awesome. I'm still looking forward to mine coming in the mail. I ordered a 250gig HDD to go with because that is all I'm going to need w 3 cameras. I would die of old age before I could fill a 4tb lol... thanks for the video BTW I'm surprised how easy it sets right up and transfers cameras over!
Hello everyone. I have also been using the Homebase 3 with a total of 3 cameras for 2 weeks. I have also installed the 1TB hard drive supplied by Eufy in the Homebase 3. About 4 days ago, I suddenly heard the fan roaring very loudly. I then took the Homebase off the network and removed the hard drive again. However, it was only lukewarm and the room was only 20 degrees Celsius / 68 degrees Fahrenheit. So, I reinstalled the hard drive and restarted the Homebase. After 2 hours, the same problems occurred again. The fan noise is so loud that I can hear it throughout the entire house at night. Does anyone else have this problem? I have installed the system version 3.5.0.9 / subsystem version 1.4.0.8. Is there a solution for this?
I haven't heard of this issue yet. Have you reached out to Eufy's support?
I’m having the same issue ! I’m running on 3.5.1.8 subsystem 1.4.0.8
I don’t see that option for me to connect my camera to the homebase
Not all cameras are compatible with the HomeBase3
@@GrantButler my camera came with a bundle of the homebase3 so shouldnt that work. i have the s330
Mine ssd did not come with the screws, Can you tell me what size screws this Samsung 870 QVO takes . Thanks.
My home base came with the screws. 4mm long M3 screw.
You can find kits like this one for super cheap.
amzn.to/3KARx3a
Just search Amazon for SSD screws
If you are upgrading to homebase 3, what will happen to homebase 2? Do the homebase 2 will still work separately from the homebase 3?
Mime is still online because my doorbell isn't compatible with the HomeBase3. So they're both still online
What was the screwdriver that you were using in the video? It didn't look like anything I have seen before.
It's a SOG Q4

@@GrantButler Perfect! Thank you for the quick response. I will definitely check it out.
Can I use my Homebase 3 without the expandable hard drive until I get one?
yes. it comes with 16GB of internal memory.
Where can i buy 2.5inch,16TB memory SSD?
"SSD" most manufacturers aren't making them yet from what I've seen. But I recommend looking at what there is in Amazon. I have a link to the one I recommend in the video description
Is this a special package deal with a 1TB hard drive?? Everything euphy says everywhere said they only come with 16gig new.
Edit... Nevermind, i didn't get one with a kit. I need to install a HD myself!
I have only seen a drive included with the E330 kit th-cam.com/video/L4_nol8Xf4I/w-d-xo.htmlsi=745MreBopoTT_tiF
Do you know how can add my eufy doorbell??
Not all of them are compatible with the HomeBase3
Hello !
Since I installed my SSD the fan from HB3 is blasting 100% every time… do you get this as well ?
Mine does not do that. Is the location it's stored in direct sunlight or a hot room? Or by chance could it be the disc from your hard drive making that noise because it's constantly recording data (video)?
@@GrantButler No it's not a warm room on direct sunlight and I said I installed an SSD not an HDD..
Does this home base 3 allow for cross camera tracking?
Yes, but only on the E330
I have issues with the system. I see the clips, I play it and see the motion. I go back later and it’s an empty clip of just the scenes where the motion happened. Even on the continuous recording it’s gone motion it’s gone.
What camera are you using?
@@GrantButler eufy security 2k wired outdoor camera. What’s funny is I shared the camera with my wife, I’m the admin and the events shows on hers. I played them side by side and same time frame on playback and motion clip mine are Blank but her plays the same time stamp. The motion play back is clips are 5 seconds ahead and missing the motion in the frame on my app. But it takes the screenshot like it’s supposed to but not action is in the clips. This is disappointing and frustrating.
I had spinning platter Toshies in a NAS in a 4-disk RAID5 for about 5 years before I replaced them as a matter of course (with considerably bigger Ironwolf Pros). Never missed a beat. But empirical evidence from a small data sample is not much evidence at all.
While there are some that make it their lifetime. I run into so many issues with only Toshiba that it's pretty clear. It doesn't matter the brand of machine I work on. I've been doing it for 8 yrs. The only ones who fail consistently are Toshibas. I'm pretty sure it's not a coincidence if it's over 8 yrs & 2 different sides of the country.
I have a jerk of a neighbor to say the least and I need a video doorbell that can record when I need to start recording. Motion detection is great but if the person is out of frame I still need to capture the audio and manually start the recording.
Is this possible with this product? I can't tell if the bundle on Amazon with the e340 and the home base 3 has the hard drive included or not.
If you get the bundle with the e330 the homebase3 will come with a 1tb hdd already installed. It looks like thr e340 doesn't come with the expansion drive. However the homebase3 comes with 16gb of internal storage
@@GrantButler 16gb may not be enough. There is always a lot of shady things going outside my door that I need to record. Normally 16GB would be fine for a normal person in a safe neighborhood.
@FLOODOFSINS you may want to get a external drive
@@GrantButler which eufy outdoor cameras can 2247 recording with audio?
What screw driver are you using?
It's a SOG Q4
amzn.to/454Kjhd
is this available in 220v/240v?
Yes, the HomeBase3 power adapter supports universal voltage, including 220/240V, making it compatible for non-USA customers. This means that customers outside the USA can use the HomeBase3 without the need for a voltage converter. The AC adapter for the HomeBase3 is designed to work with a voltage range of 100V to 240V, ensuring flexibility and convenience for users in different regions.
The format doesn't work. What could be the problem?
Is it not giving you the option to format, or is there a specific issue or error you get after you format the drive?
@@GrantButler I did the install all over again. And it is good now 😌.
so glad to hear it
YOU DIDNT MENTION HOMEBASE 3 stopped and you lost all footages and all security Cameras !
What?
