    In this series I am converting my stock wltoys 12428 buggy to a trail buggy, I am doing so mostly with all the stock parts but the motor and I will change and lock the diffs and do other stuff to it and after the build series is completed I will then test run it in the mountains in the spot I run my other rigs.

    Great job Steve, I appreciate the sped up parts (we all know how to unscrew stuff). This is really cool to see too...converting to make it a trail runner on a budget is awesome! Who couldn't stand to save some money? Thanks for the tutorial. 😃👌👊👍

      I think you are right! It has been a long time... My Traxxas Summit has a smoked motor that needs replacing (thinking of doing a double motor mod on her but haven't picked up the parts yet) but I do have two new high output LiPo batteries that I got for it at the end of last year. I could use one in my HotRod and the other in my Stampede. Kev made an adapter to go from Traxxas plug to Deans that I could borrow. Thanks for the reminder to get out and have some RC fun again. 😃👌

    Hi Steve, hope your staying safe in this current crisis. Wanted to ask you if putting larger wheels on my 12428 would it put any strain on that 540 motor.

    • @ShenRC
      @ShenRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Yes larger tires will put much more strain on the motor and drive train, a larger tire does much more than changing pinion gears, you can use a smaller pinion gear if you want to use a larger tire... I have a video showing what I did with mine. Thank you and stay safe.

    • @ShenRC
      @ShenRC  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea the jjrc and the other desert 03 red colored model had metal gears .. don't know why this one don't but they do sell cheap hop up metal gear sets for it. 😊👍Thanks for watching.

    hi Shen! this is the inside specs of the buggy out of the box when you purchase it? Do they come with the aluminum shocks? Thanks!

    • @ShenRC
      @ShenRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      😁 Hi the new version has all metal gears now, the shocks are stock but not oil filed. Thanks

      @@ShenRC this buggy is pretty solid. It can withstand some good jumps and a bit of bashing..maybe this can do with 8t brushless motor with 3000 kv plus. 😁

    I thought the more turns the less rpm.

    • @ShenRC
      @ShenRC  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi yes your correct the more turns the less RPM but more power, I want this to be moving slow like a fast as you can walk speed or so and it will give you better throttle control for when you walk behind it when crawling through the trails.👍😊👍

  • @mikeymike3240
    @mikeymike3240 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Steve, nice instructional video, i just hot glue the bevel gears without cleaning, as it comes off easily when you want to open the diff. The hot glue is so easy to do and it never let's me down.
    Great video. 😀 👍 👍 👍

    • @ShenRC
      @ShenRC  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      😊👍 Thanks , I tried that in a diff a long time ago but for me it did not work.. I guess it depends on how fast or big your RC car is mine just loosened up.

    This is on my list too! As a Semi-Pro Crawler, I KNOW that plastic welded Gears can't possibly stand up to a lot of abuse...
    I would make "Positraction" instead. Use 500,000wt or even 1 MILLION weight Diff Grease. You'll still have a little differential action (VERY little!), and both sides will still pull, HARD!
    I can definitely appreciate your willingness to experiment! Nice trait to have. It's also good to see you up to a point where you actually have Commercials now!!! You just got one more Subscriber!!
    Carmine 💥 ⛽

    • @ShenRC
      @ShenRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      😁👍 Thanks very much. They do make metal gears now for this model I actually have them but I never broke mine yet so I did not install them. Look at my latest up dates on this buggy I did a lot to it now and it's working just as good as most crawlers!

    • @CarminesRCTipsandTricks
      @CarminesRCTipsandTricks 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would do it, just because.... Even though I'm dirt Poor. 😢
      I mentioned in another of your Videos, that I live MILES from any decent Crawling spots. We try not to have to bring too many spare parts with us.
      I looked it up, the Metal Gears are CHEAP! I would just have to have the patience to WAIT Months for it to get here from China!!! 😱😣😫
      There's quite a list of hop-up Parts for it, from China. Fully adjustable Metal Links, Shocks, Tires... Lots of stuff! I may have to try to get one.
