Multicolor 3D printing with single extruder, manually

  • This is my second video where I am talking about multicolor 3D printing with single extruder and manual filament changes (multicolor can be even in a same layer). In previous one I explained mostly two color printing: how to prepare the object in Fusion360, settings in Prusa Slicer, 3D printing..
    • Two color 3D printing ...
    In this episode, I am talking more about the advantage of this method. It can be very useful to 3D print two different materials too, not only plastic with different colors. In second part of the video I am 3D printing a heart box where I will put a valentine gift for my wife. She liked the box better than the gift in it.. I had to buy some flowers next day.

    I think this video in combination with CHEP's video is game changer for those of us balling on a budget. I ain't got $500 to spend on some fancy automation.

    Great technique. This one will go into the helpful toolbox. I tried the M117 to add a comment on Ender 3v2, but it didn’t on very long. So I used a M00. It pauses the machine and leaves the bed and hot end on. This gives me time to stage the filament before staring the M600. Instead of ( M117 Red ) I used (M00 Red ). And it works great.

    Although I had to swap out the filament 6 times and baby sit the printer, your method works!!! Thanks for sharing and I will wait for the time where I really need this ability but the results are great and looks amazing

    really enjoyed playing around with this technique, very useful video. It might also come in useful for printing PVA support interface layers for prints than have large supported areas

    Very nice work !!! I used this technic on my Ender 3 pro and it works perfect!!! The biggest adventage is basically no limit for the layers what allows to thicken the layers for very contast collors and they are not interfering togather. Thanks

    Agree with others, VERY NICE VIDEO!!!! As a comment, on my printer, using Marlin 1.8 , the pause command that works is M0. But you have to add some extra codes to move the tool away from the part. Thank you for sharing this!

    Hey there thanks for this video. I'm trying this out with Cura but it switches between the "extruders" within each layer, not doing several layers on one model then switching to the other extruder to finish that model.
    Seems to be leading to many more "tool changes"

    Great video!
    I'm having issue where my primary color is being changed after "intro line"; and it's the color that should be printing first? Should I edit gCode or I am missing something?

    Köszönöm, nagyon sokat tanultam ebből a videóból, teljesen megváltoztatta a nyomataim feliratait!
    Nekem az vált be, hogy nem bántom a retraction alapbeállítást és kikapcsolom a wipe tower-t. Igaz így néhány másodpercig még nem tökéletes a flow, de a kész nyomaton ez alig, vagy egyáltalán nem látszik. Kísérleteztem azzal is, hogy egy demo line-t nyomtatok filament csere után, de azt nem az asztal szélére nyomja már, mint a nyomtatás elején, hanem oda, ahol befejezte a nyomtatást. Ami még picit bosszantó, hogy a demo line után, a nyomtatás kezdete előtt is csinál a Prusa Slicer valamiért egy tool change-t, ami plusz 1-2 perc időveszteség.

      Igen, arra már rászoktam, hogy az első M600-at törlöm a gcode-bol. És úgy látom, ezen sokat dolgoznak. Másképp viselkedik most 2.3 PrusaSlicer mint korábban. Állandóan kísérletezni kell vele.

    Impressive approach.imoressive results!
    I have an ender3, an with filament changes I get a bad layer adhesion and a thin wall using a pause, any tips? The best I have found is to cut and load without pausing, but with a Boden tube, timing the change is really hot n miss.

      @MyTechFun  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have experiance with Ender3. Have you tested M600 command? Or you pause manually the printer? If M600, it is important to add it to proper position, try to insert it using some online tool or directly from slicer. If only the adhesion is the problem, raise the temp by 5-10°C or add a little extra flowing to extrudation.

    I have a ELEgoo neptune 3 pro printer. I use Cura. The printer has 2 options when printing. 1 is pause and other is abort. The slicer creates STL files. I think I can use GCODE files. How do I modify the gcode for message to change filament??

    • @MyTechFun
      @MyTechFun  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Try to insert M600 command to some layer. You can do it after slicing.

    ok kind of late for the video but still... I tested... works amazing but... I'm doing a text inlay in a black piece. The text sometimes is small so I need to print the text before it starts to print the piece so I'm 100% sure the text will show p ok. How do can I control that in prusa slicer

    Hi, i have one a question. How did you export all letters in one stl from fusio?. Because each letter in fusion is a new body.

    • @MyTechFun
      @MyTechFun  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. But you can export the whole project, not one by one every body.

      Not yet, but I didn't try it since that. Maybe after new firmware it works(?) I just added a beep sounds. That works.

      Hi thank you for replying me, the problem solved already. Just cut the first filament and insrt the 2nd. Since it cant automatically unload filament

      Magyarul nincs meg nekem, de Walter Reéb csinált hasonló videót magyarul. Az a bajom, hogy most már nem tudom eldönteni, hogy melyik nyomtatóra csináljam. Túl sok van a piacon ami népszerű (és sajnos nem egyforma)
