  • In November 2023, I switched from MotorCraft Synthetic blend to Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. Now end of February 2024, I’m at ~2,800 miles on the Ultra and in this video I show what that looks like.

I do 3000 miles oil changes on my ecoboost. Ecoboost Engines are very hot to maximize performance, also o il dilution is present after 4000 miles so good move. Oil is cheaper than an engine at 100k miles.

I have 32,000 miles on my 2020 3.5 ecoboost Raptor. Been using motorcraft synthetic , blend and Mobil 1 synthetic since new. I think I'll be switching to UP Penziol from now on to help prevent or delay the cam phaser design flaws.

Send your oil to get tested. You can't really go off of color. If you want the best oil for your and filtration for your engine is not motor craft. That's based of numbers not loyalty or talk.

Most of the Ford mechanics on TH-cam say the EcoBoost engines are dirty. I'd say the engine oil color proves that 100%.

My oil was half that dark after 6000 miles just saying maybe it’s the camera but it’s not. Maybe the engine is dirty due to poor maintenance in the previous time and now it’s trying to play catch-up which it’s already too late.

I do 4-5k miles changes on my 3.5 NA version. It looks nothing like this. it still mostly amber color. It just shows how much pressure Forced induction does to oil.

Absolutely. Different engine but a few years ago before vacation I change the oil with Pennzoil ultra platinum and use a Trd engine oil filter drove about 6500 miles with probably 90% of it Being highway miles. We came back and I changed the oil and it still looked honey brown.

Those eco boost engines really tear up the oil. Try some Valvoline, great job changing your oil. Don’t do extended oil changes on those engines they won’t last long if you do.. good luck

I agree with rick brown and JF. My 2014 EB is at 94k miles and to keep a long story short...stick with PUP/platinum or Valvoline oils and change at least 3.5k. Sure, there are other really good oils out there, but the Valvoline and Pennzoil lines i've used run much better in the ecoboost engines. My line of thought now is to alternate OCI between PUP and the Valvoline HM Max life.

Looking at used oil is a minor indication of how it is. For a true indication pay a few bucks for an oil sample. One firm is Blackstone, but there are others. Only way to really determine if the oil was still viable. Also, an oil sample will show if there is any indication of fuel dilution of the oil.

@@MidwestF150 I do not like too put down any brand. What I will say is that "All Motor Oil Brands On The Market Are API/ILSAC Approved!" The Owners Manual tells you which API Rating you need like API/SP and the Viscosity. most vehicles use a 0w20 now days, I feel this is too thin for summer use. If it says you can use a 5w30 or 5w40 then you can use the higher viscosity oils with no damage to the engine. If you are a COSTCO member you can buy their Kirkland Oil at a very good price, or Walmart´s SuperTech or Havaline. The same thing goes for Oil Filters, the cheap papper filters do just as good a job as the expensive ones. Keep an eye on the color of your oil, when it starts too get dark ...CHANGE IT AND THE FILTER.

@@MidwestF150 Valvoline makes good oil. What they mean by "Restore" makes me wonder what it restores?.....Protects! All API oils protect your engine. Remember, there is a balance btween Cleaning and Lubricating, Too much cleaning additives can affect the oils lubrication. The oil you buy has been tested for the right amount of additives for your engine. It should say in the owners manual which oils are approved like DEXOS APPROVED.

So this is the first full change of ultra plat? I think the detergents are working the garbage out off the parts. I think it will take a little more dilution to get all the black out. I would also look into Ford Performance part M-6766-35T it's an oil air separator aka oil catch can but made by ford so you keep your warranty. Btw if you don't have Ford ESP you can get it as cheap insurance.
